How Do You Organize Your Bag?

Recommended Posts

I have a 6-way Staff bag with my clubs arranged as so.

image.png.8ddb500a1f54f001c239397a76ab6ec7.png

Like many of the respondents to this post I am OCD about where the clubs are in the bag. I even put the bag on backwards when I ride in a cart, so everything is just the way it is displayed. For me it is based on shot selection, when teeing off, take the cover off the driver, store the cover on the OW , tee off replace cover and move on. Most of my second shots will be one of the three groupings of clubs. Finally, I take a wedge and putter to the third stroke and when all goes well, I am in with par or better. I even have head covers on my irons to protect the face as well.

I usually am pretty consistent with where my clubs go. If I put my clubs in a different order, I usually can’t find what I’m looking for. My driver & woods go in the back. On the left I have my high irons, on the right I have my wedges & in front is my putter. I don’t think I’m ocd, just that every club has its spot. No deviation is accepted.

I have bag divider envy after reading this. I just purchased a new bag (because SALE!), but I am really wishing I had more dividers. I have a 3-way divider where Driver, 3w, & 4h go in one, All numbered irons go in the middle, and wedges & putter go in the last. It's divided horizontally at least, but makes for a crammed bag experience. I'll just continue to follow this thread and live vicariously through your bag set ups.

I put my driver in the one of the shortest slots. Keeps the driver from banging around on the cart roof when I'm riding. Also makes it easier to put on/take off the head cover. Then, two metal woods. Then, two hybrids in a wavy, s-shaped pattern. Please don't judge iron head covers. My sticks are in excellent shape even though they are not new.

I like the iron covers. I wish I still had that many that matched.

The first bag drives me absolutely crazy, should be organized and easy to pick a club.  Like most left to right starting in the very first slot at the top of my Titleist cart 14 bag, going longest left to right until we get to the last wedge.  Putter goes in the putter well.  I can almost pick my clubs with my eyes closed.  When I use my Titleist Tour Midsize same order.  Commend Middler on such a "great example".  If you are going to do something, do it right, on the other hand, life is about choices.  Hakuna matata.

I have a 14 way divider bag. Putter in front, woods in back. Anything else goes where ever it ends up. I never panic when reaching for a club and I always find it  😁

This game is tough enough. Golf Club arrangement in my bag is the very least of my concerns out there

I’m a fan of the 14 way bag personally, a spot for each club just keeps my OCD in check! Just what works for me but I also like putting the club back in the same exact spot after each shot kind of like a reset for my brain.

top: 2-3 Hybrid, driver, 5 wood

I would really like the organization for a cart bag to be the same as a stand bag so I don't have to shuffle clubs when I switch from walking to pushing to riding. Put the longest slot for driver/3w on the same side as the storage pockets so it works for any method and the irons don't clank on graphite when on a push cart.

I'm 73, with a 14 divide cart bag.  From putter front, 6,7,8,9 up the left side.  20, 23, 27 degree hybrids along the top, right side top to putter SW, AW, PW.  Using middle 4 not normally in use.  If I play a course over 5,500 yds (which I've been told is where my skill level is now) I'll bring my 3 wood.   Short grass, means uncomplicated enjoyment.  Since golf ruins a good walk, I ride...shade, seating and cup holders rule!!

I have a Callaway Org 14. I also wouldn't be without 14 holes so everything goes in the correct spot. My only difference is I have animal head covers so instead of the driver and 3 wood going on the top, they are off to the left and right side respectively with the 5 and 7 wood on the top. The 2 fairway headcovers are smaller and don't hide the clubs under them.

I also think it makes it easier to not leave clubs. Another thing I do is take a towel when i take clubs around the greens to lay the clubs on. This helps keep the grips clean and as the towel is a "family heirloom" and obvious, hard to leave clubs.

I experimented with moving them around when putting the bag on my walking cart, but gave it up. Although having the covered clubs on the bottom is slightly awkward, this layout is easier than bending over to find a club with the head covers hanging over the bag. The only thing I change is the driver and 3 wood as i take the clubs out to play from the left side of the cart bag combo.  Uh ya, just realized that's a thing...

I have a nice TaylorMade cart bag (14 'slots') I thrifted for 0.00 bux. I picked up a Titleist stand bag for $4.99 and the TM had no price on it. The lady told me to just take it. So I did. My set up is

Top middle- Driver

Top left -2W, Top right -4W

2nd row, L to R, 7i, 6i, 5h, 4h

3rd row, L to R,  8i, 9i, PW, AW

Bottom  SW on the left, LW on the R, and

Putter in the well.

It is really a minor peeve when a playing partner can't find their club because they have them all haphazard in their bag.

Like many, my bag has 15 places. I also have those plastic tubes for each shaft. Each club has its appropriate head cover. Every space has a determined purpose and I buy my bags based on the purpose. I need to know where everything is located. Compliments of Uncle Sam's Army, my bag is organized just like my ruck sack was and Butt Pac. Reason for tubes and head covers is I HATE my clubs rattling and banging around making all that noise. My game is done with a purpose and as quietly as I can. Some things just stay with you.

I find that I have less "grip salad" with a limited number of full length dividers. And I always organise the clubs in the following way:

at the top  Driver, 4 wood, 3 hybrid and putter (the headcovers family). Then in the two middle sections the long irons (4, 5, 6) on one side, the short ones (7, 8, 9) on the other side. They are ordered by size so it really goes 4,5,6,7,8,9, in line. And at the bottom the wedges, 52° on one side, 58° on the other, and the PW sandwiched in the middle.

I find that keeping my clubs in their allocated/ordered position helps me reduce the annoying noise ("club chatter", they say), I just put my hand here on top when walking and all goes silent, having them in order reduces the impact marks as well (goes with the noise, so yeah!) and I don't ever have to look for the club I want to play. So I drop the bag from my shoulders on the ground, take the club, hit the shot, and back at it spot it returns! Easy, fast, never mistaking the 6 for the 9 or vice versa (they're in different compartments) and so on.

Aim small... pray to miss small

My bag: Ping hoofer lite. My driver: Nike Vapor Pro. 4w: Inesis 500. Hybrid: Nike Vapor Flex. Irons (4-PW): Takomo 301 combo on KBS tour X. Wedges: Vokey SM7 52° and 58°. Putter: Cleveland Classic HB1. Balls: Inesis Tour900 yellow.
