Round Putter Grip

Recommended Posts

I picked up a new Odyssey putter at Dick's and it had a round grip that seemed somewhat oversized and I liked it, not enough to buy the putter, but I liked the grip.

Does anyone know of any round putter grips other than Edel? Or any aftermarket round putter grips?

Superstroke has some round ones. That is probably the simplest or easiest to find.

I didn't know Superstroke made round putter grips. I've only seen the flat front grips.

Why not just buy the round Edel grip?

Another option might be the non-tapered Jumbo Max regular grips in the size you like.

I'd like to hold a Edel to see the grip. The Jumbo Max may be the way to go .

Edel is probably the only round putter specific grip.  You can find non taper full swing grips that will work.

I’ve had an Edel putter with a round grip for a couple of years now. I would have changed it for a more traditional grip recently as it needed replacing but was advised it was built specifically for a round grip. I find it quite difficult to line up for putts and set putts off on line and felt a more traditional grip would have helped me do this by squaring the face.

The argument for a round grip was that if a regular grip with a flat section is installed just a degree or two off, you would be aiming left or right of target.  My feeling is that golfers would adapt.  With a round grip I can see that the error introduced by the golfer could be at least that bad and inconsistently gripped, so the alignment error could be in either direction on any given putt.  That would really disturb me... not knowing if missing putts was due to the putter or me!!

You were advised incorrectly.  Edel putters aren’t built specifically for round grips and they even sell grips with a flat front.

Besides Edel I remember Tour Edge made a round grip for a while, the SphereTac I think it was. Not sure if you can buy it on it's own though, I think it came with their putters.

Looks like that is still available as standalone grip. Thanks.

The non-taper JumboMax grips work well as a putter grip if you like the round grip (and I DO like 'em) and are a pretty standard weight.

The Edel round grip in "standard" size is plenty big.  It does, however, weigh quite a bit more as an "fyi".

I use both.
