The Muni of Charleston

Gross: 88

Course Hdcp of 17

Net: 71 for a -1 for 18

Net Birdies: 7

Longest Drive: 276

Every facet of my game is slooowly coming together as of late. But frustrated for I came into the course hot 🚗 💨 ⏰ and ran to the first tee … ended up having 4 three putts, with two of them costing me pars. Feel like it’s been forever to have a 50% GIR and hoping this round pushes my hdcp down to 15.

I have had those days... late to the course and trying to make it to the first tee before missing your reservation!!  I'm with you, it is usually the short game that gets me as well.  Good solid round though... a round or two in the net negative numbers will definitely bring down your hcap... what is your goal?

You can get revenge next time.  How is Paiute?  Never been there, but heard it was nice... out in the middle of nowhere!

Paiute is the best bang for your buck in Vegas. The greens are fast and smooth. They have their own water rights so they can really take care of the grass. Only downside is all the rocks if you hit an errant shot. I keep two “rock clubs” in my bag so I can play from the desert and not risk ruining my precious Stealth irons. If you’re ever around, it’s a great place to play.

Thanks!  It's on my list!  Don't get there as often as I used to; only played TPC Las Vegas (in July!) and Revere in Henderson.  Usually just passing through.

I visited Paiute many years ago... Incredible courses cut through the Nevada desert outside Henderson, NV.  Every time is see @PeterHenric post a score from there, I'm reminded of a great experience - even if it was in the middle of August when I visited!!

It’s hot as balls in August but the courses are usually wide open so you can get quick rounds in. Usually pretty windy in the afternoons though.

Had a great round yesterday!

74 from the tips, 65 net for -6

Drives didn't get crazy but they were all pretty on target. My longest was 292 yds.

7 total birdies (2 natural, 5 net).

I almost birdied #3 but just couldn't get the putt to drop.

Today I introduced a new facet to my game, a driver with a Senior Shaft.  I put a 12* PXG 0811 XF with Evenroll Riptide CB senior shaft into play today.  The experiment was successful, but the rest of my game wasn't there today.  I shot a 44/45:89 less Course Handicap 13 = 76 versus Par 72 = +4 with only 3 Net birdies and a Long Drive of 211 yards.  On a different note, one of my net birdies garnered a skin paying $17.

Driver: image.png.6ba1c8a254ad57aa05e527b74c2e04ba.png0311 XF 10.5* w/Project X Cypher 40 gram Senior shaft or 0811 XF 12* w/Evenflo Riptide CB Senior shaft

Hybrid: None in bag at the moment

IronsTitleist T300 5-PW w/Fubuki MV Senior graphite shafts w/Golf Pride Tour

Wedges: Edison forged 49*, 53* and 57* wedges with KB PGI Senior shafts(80 grm).

Putter: 33” Evnroll ER6R or  ER2 or Bellum Winmore Model 707,   or Nike Method Core Drone  w/Evnroll Gravity Grip

Bag: Vice cart bag(Black/Lime).

Ball: Snell MTB Prime X, Maxfli Tour/S/X CG, Titleist Pro V1x or Titleist TruFeel

I watched the No Laying Up guys play the Charleston Muni and it looked pretty tricky. Especially in and around the greens.

Turns out I am mortal. Because of all of the rain and flood repairing going on, the rough is approaching 2020 Winged Foot levels. So had some fun getting out of that. That said, I was putting my drives in there, which I haven't been doing lately.

Have to say... I was fascinated for a long while at the picture of your long drive hole... the shadows cast from the trees are really cool!!  I've never played in SC, but hope to soon!!

Turns out I am mortal. Because of all of the rain and flood repairing going on, the rough is approaching 2020 Winged Foot levels. So had some fun getting out of that. That said, I was putting my drives in there, which I haven't been doing lately.

Werribee Park GC

Gross: 82

Course Handicap: 7 (turns out it didn't drop after last round. It went from the high end to the low end of the range that gets rounded to 7)

10 Over

Nett Score: 75 (+3)

Nett birdies: 4

Longest Drive: 279

Still pretty good scoring for difficult conditions Blueberry!

I watched the No Laying Up guys play the Charleston Muni and it looked pretty tricky. Especially in and around the greens.

The greens are slowly growing into their own and holding approach shots better after the renovation 2+ years ago.

But yes, they are insanely tricky and one does not want to be long/over any of the greens … for they mostly slope from back to front and they’re quick.

Nice Foz!!  So tell me more about your new Driver combo!!

PXG 0811 XF 12* head with Project X Evenflo Riptide CB Senior shaft.  Just getting used to it, but I will swap driver heads and try the Senior shaft with my PXG 0211 head. It’s gonna be a pretty cool experiment.  I’ll probably take the next month or so to figure it out, but today I just loved the flight of the 0811 XF…..very straight with a high flight.  Drives put me about one o4 two clubs closer to the green. My FIR today was only 64% versus my ytd of 73%.

I have had those days... late to the course and trying to make it to the first tee before missing your reservation!!  I'm with you, it is usually the short game that gets me as well.  Good solid round though... a round or two in the net negative numbers will definitely bring down your hcap... what is your goal?

My goal at the moment is to consistently get more scores in the 80s and to simply just avoid big numbers that blow up my round.

At the end of the day, I’d reeeally like to get it back down to 12 by year end and back into single digits again at some point next year.
