The Muni of Charleston

I watched the No Laying Up guys play the Charleston Muni and it looked pretty tricky. Especially in and around the greens.

Turns out I am mortal. Because of all of the rain and flood repairing going on, the rough is approaching 2020 Winged Foot levels. So had some fun getting out of that. That said, I was putting my drives in there, which I haven't been doing lately.

Werribee Park GC

Gross: 82

Course Handicap: 7 (turns out it didn't drop after last round. It went from the high end to the low end of the range that gets rounded to 7)

10 Over

Nett Score: 75 (+3)

Nett birdies: 4

Longest Drive: 279

The greens are slowly growing into their own and holding approach shots better after the renovation 2+ years ago.

But yes, they are insanely tricky and one does not want to be long/over any of the greens … for they mostly slope from back to front and they’re quick.

Nice Foz!!  So tell me more about your new Driver combo!!

PXG 0811 XF 12* head with Project X Evenflo Riptide CB Senior shaft.  Just getting used to it, but I will swap driver heads and try the Senior shaft with my PXG 0211 head. It’s gonna be a pretty cool experiment.  I’ll probably take the next month or so to figure it out, but today I just loved the flight of the 0811 XF…..very straight with a high flight.  Drives put me about one o4 two clubs closer to the green. My FIR today was only 64% versus my ytd of 73%.

I have had those days... late to the course and trying to make it to the first tee before missing your reservation!!  I'm with you, it is usually the short game that gets me as well.  Good solid round though... a round or two in the net negative numbers will definitely bring down your hcap... what is your goal?

My goal at the moment is to consistently get more scores in the 80s and to simply just avoid big numbers that blow up my round.

At the end of the day, I’d reeeally like to get it back down to 12 by year end and back into single digits again at some point next year.

Holding up surprisingly well. Only had a couple days in October where starts were delayed due to frost. Calling for at least mid-50s for at least two weeks from now. Several of us were in Wheeling last month plying at Oglebay which was in fantastic shape. If you come up that often I’m sure you’ve played it, but if not I highly recommend.

C'mon!  Lots of good tracks around here, and we can usually play 12 mos, although maybe not every day of those twelve.

Good news!

I found some extra time on my trip and have a round booked on Friday.  Got a morning time at Kona Country Club.  Working with sketchy gear as I didn't bring any of my own stuff (shoes, glove, hat, SSv3).  Using rental clubs.  Hopefully the GPS on my phone is good and I can get LD data.

Hope I don't get too sunburnt!

I've missed the last two weeks - family vacation followed by a NASTY sinus infection that laid me out for 5 full days (including my "golf day").  Hoping to get out tomorrow for a round somewhere - looking up GolfNow for rates. Eager to get back out there, but with VERY little expectation as to how I'll perform, given the layoff 🙂

Fingers crossed it's not a horrible showing.  Either way, it'll feel good to swing the sticks.
