Long drive of the day.

Played today with my PXG 0211 with new Senior shaft…..FIR were not good, only 8/14 but GIR were 9/18 for 50%…my best this season.  Overall, I shot 44/41:85 less CH 13 = 72 versus Par 72 = Even.

I had 4 net birdies with a 200 yd Long Drive.

I just realized that your profile pic is from Tin Cup!  Love it!!  So have you ever played Deerwood?  That is on my bucket list for sure.  I did play Tubac outside Nogales, AZ, so I have one of the movie courses used checked off

I found some extra time on my trip and have a round booked on Friday.  Got a morning time at Kona Country Club.  Working with sketchy gear as I didn't bring any of my own stuff (shoes, glove, hat, SSv3).  Using rental clubs.  Hopefully the GPS on my phone is good and I can get LD data.  

Hope I don't get too sunburnt!

Anytime out on a golf course during work trip is a nice bonus... especially in really nice weather!!  Enjoy!

Here comes the Week 6 Weekend!!!  

Let's see those scores everyone!!!

@snicerz came out strong early in Week 6 with a net -6 round at the Golf Club at Surrey Hills - will someone knock him off his perch before then end of the week?

 

@snicerz is also leading in net birdies - but tied with @mikeanthony shooting a net 1 under round at The Muni of Charleston - both posting 7 net birdies or better in their respective rounds. 

 

The fall/winter conditions must be starting to take effect - we have yet to see a longest drive over 300 yards this week (but I'm sure that will happen over the weekend!!).  Currently @snicerz is also leading this category with his 292 yard drive.  Second place currently belongs to @Blueberry_Squishiewith his 279 drive at Werribee Park.

 

Looking forward to seeing the weekend scoring and updated leaderboard.

Hoping to get out this weekend, I will just have to shoot a *looks up course handicap* gross 70  to take down @snicerz net -6. Oh well, there is a first time for everything and surely I can beat my best all time score (played there at least 30 times) at that course by FOUR SHOTS, lol.

Are you referring to the Deerwood in Texas or New Jersey? I have not played either one, but the Deerwood in Kingwood is not too far from me. I think I need to try it out!

Deerwood in Kingwood.  That is where the "US OPEN" scenes were shot for Tin Cup   I think there is even a plaque where he hit the shots over the water on the way to a crowd pleasing 12   I haven't tried to make my way onto the course, but I want to!

I've played Deerwood; I have a buddy who is a Houston firefighter and lives in Kingwood.  Nice area.  Must admit I don't remember a ton about the course.  Need to go back!!

I wonder if they would let me hit a hooded 4 iron through the bar, out the door and try to knock a pelican off the post?  

I quote that movie more than Caddyshack when I'm on the course (though less people get what I"m saying).  

Last week I was eyeing a blocked shot to the green and I said to my playing partner... "I'm not going left of those trees, I'm not going right of those trees..... I'm going right over those trees..... with a little draw".  He looked at me like... uh ok.   haha.

I've lived here in the Houston area for 16 years and knew nothing about this course and golf club!

I had no idea Tin Cup was filmed there! That makes it a must check this out situation for me  I see that they have "outings" you can enquire about. Not sure if they are a completely private club or not. I have a feeling a group could probably get to play on certain days.

I will reach out to the course and see if they will support a small group.  I "may" drop in the conversation that we are members of the MyGolfSpy Forum and will be posting a review of the course with pictures within the forum threads.

M.... Ok.  So I did play a bit of golf today.  Sorry for the poor performance, to be discussed and displayed in a later post.  However, was totally worth it for an out of schedule pickup round.  Almost did it well too... for me.

Gonna save the meat of the round for a later post.  This is all about the scenery.  Here are some of the views from central west coast Big Island.  Lovin' the Aloha on Hawai'i, and pics can't do justice to what you got.  Some things you might see here...

My favorite part of the picture above is the lone chicken wing on a plate   haha.
