hckymeyer
Just wondering who uses the same shafts in all their woods or hybrids? Also have you been fitted for all of them, or just a driver and you carried it through to your woods? GolfSpy WD
The poll needs a choice for "Different brands, different shafts". I use the same shaft for both my hybrids, but my driver and fairway are different. I personally like have a progression of weights, where the driver has the lightest shaft, the fairway possibly as light as the driver, but probably heavier. My hybrids shaft weights fall between my fairway and irons. @GolfSpy_WD
RoverRick
I have been all over the place on shafts and hybrids. I have had all the same shafts and I have had all different shafts. What I found is that by using all the same shafts, (UST Axivcore Red) I got a very consistant ball flight and would get carry and roll that was consistant through out the set, so at the time I was carrying a 14, 19, and 24. But by varying the shaft brands, you get different ball flight. That makes for more variety to play different shots, so it comes down to what do you want, consistancey or variety. Golfmanufaktur
As mentioned above, the option different brands, different shafts is missing in the poll. I use Attas T2 from UST Mamiya in my FW and Matrix Altus in my hybrids. Regards, Michael
hckymeyer
I added the different shafts, different brands option to the poll. I think my basis for wanting to do this poll, and my major question, is this. If you got fit for say a driver shaft, does that fitting carry through to the fairway wood with maybe the same shaft but a bump in weight? Does it apply to hybrids as well? For me I play an Oban Kiyoshi in the driver, then switch over to the Oban Devotion for my 4w and hybrid. Just thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else is doing and if they were actually fit for any (or all) of the shafts in their "wood" lineup and how they carried that fitting through to their other "wood" shaft selections. JBones
I was fit for an Aldila DVS in my hybrid. I just swapped out a ton of shafts in my 3W to get the best results and I got them with a "made for" Matrix XCON. If this Blue Crush doesn't work out in my driver, then I'm going to go all Aldila DVS when I get my new 3W. Follow @GolfspyBones
Matt Saternus
All different for me, and, for better or worse, always changing. The only thing with a hint of stability right now is the Matrix Ozik RUL in the driver. Have yet to find anything as good. Fairways will likely be Fujikura Motore F3 and hybrids I'm looking at Oban, largely because I haven't tried them yet. I've also got some other shafts coming in for testing, Robin Artur's shafts and the new Mitsubishi Kuro Kage (Black Shadow!) which could be winners in a hybrid. Dave
None of mine are stock, and there are even the same manufacturer let alone model. I have a revolving WITB policy.
BIG STU
None of my woods are the same even though I use the same shafts in my 3w and 7w but not by choice. The 7 wood had a stock Taylor stiff shaft but last spring I hit a root and it broke off at the head.I went ahead and installed a UST Pro Force gold 65 which is the same shaft as my 3 wood. As far as my drivers my main gamer a old Hogan CS5 has a Aldila NVS 65 stiff and my Adams speedline has a UST V2 stiff in it. I probably do not hit as exotic shafts as many do on here but this combo seems to work for me Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- 5W TM V-Steel Fubuki 60r--- 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R----- 9 W TM V Steel TM MAS stiff---- Irons 2015 TM TP CB Steel Fiber 95 R--- GW Callaway Mack Daddy 2 52* shaft unknown junk pile refugee.
