While I agree they have made progress over the years with driver don’t think their market share has grown at all over the years. Again while mgs members and other forums will have insight and a different opinion and experience with the brand but like Wilson the general public doesn’t. I can’t tell you the last cobra driver I’ve seen in a bag on the course was. I think Cobra is in a much better place than Wilson though because although they may have similar market shares, Cobra has a much younger demographic. Think Padraig Harrington vs DeChambeau/Berkshire. I see Cobra drivers fairly regularly out on the course, but primarily in the bags of under-30 players. Middler
Congrats Harry. Sorry to see you leave MGS, but none of us begrudge you a new opportunity. And best of luck at Wilson, I played W/S RM Midsize irons for many years, loved them, and it would be nice to see Wilson return to their former glory - but we all know competition is fierce so it's an uphill battle. If you look at my signature, you will see your influence all over my purchases - thanks. While that may be the case that’s also the demographic that doesn’t typically have lots of expendable income. So they may buy that driver but it could be years before it’s replaced. While those two guys are young neither imo have the power to move the needle much more than where it’s at. Those two aren’t going to push the brand into the double digit market share. They can’t compete with the marketing dollars of Callaway, TaylorMade or the the name recognition of Ping and titleist. It’s not good for them when a company like pxg has as much market share in irons as those two brands or Mizuno. Then when you have dtc companies like Sub70 delivering good products at a cheaper price it’s not going to help Ricky is/was a bigger draw than they are and he had more influence on puma sales than cobra Quote Driver: PXG 0811 X+ Proto w/UST Helium 5F4 Wood: TaylorMade M5 5W w/Accra TZ5 +1/2”, TaylorMade Sim 3W w/Aldila rogue white Hybrid: PXG Gen2 22* w/AD hybrid Irons: PXG Gen3 0311T w/Nippon modus 120 Wedges: TaylorMade MG2 50*, Tiger grind 56/60 Putter: Scotty Caemeron Super Rat1 Ball: Titleist Prov1

I don't see how anything changes. They tried to get more mainstream with their Golf Channel show with the driver design and that was a disaster and did nothing to change their brand perception. Sure they make great irons, but they aren't even in my Top 10 of irons I would try in a fitting ... Every OEM that is successful has a turning point. When I was on staff with Wilson back when they introduced the Whale Driver I was impressed with the organization. They were all golfers, loved equipment and were very serious about making tour quality clubs. Sadly Sales Dept still pursued bargain equipment and that is a brand killer. That said, they just weren't very good at it. Not good at marketing or producing the actual products. As you said, they are currently making some really nice irons but they aren't on most players radar. I always liked them and hope they can manage to turn things around but as well all know in todays economy it is an uphill battle. I have been to free demo day fittings here in Phoenix for Callaway, Taylor Made, Titleist and Mizuno. Obviously with year round play it is a good idea to get clubs in players hands. I have never even seen a Wilson Demo Day. I would add I booked a Callaway fitting for my playing pard last spring because he was playing knock offs. He ended up buying driver, 5 wood, 2 hybrids, full set of irons and 2 wedges. Demo Days work. 2 Quote Driver: SIM2 Max 10.5* ... AD-IZ 6SR Fairway: SIM2 Max 15/18* ... NC Golfer
I still can't kick out the Wlson D100 driver out of the bag. I've gone the hybrid irons route and never considered the LaunchPad. I am sure they are just as good as the Halo XL irons. But, they are not advertised as widely as Cleveland. Also, Cleveland consistently does demo days 6 months out of every year. You can't sit back and expect a following.
