Brain puddle of goo this morning apparently, thanks for the catch!  Yes -6 is what was meant 😇
Going now to for my first experience to "Post Score" 🤞

Feels like something is broken or I woke up in a different universe, this is unreal --- I spend all my life on the other end of the scorecard, tournament results and as exciting as this is it just feels like I'm going to wake up at any moment and all the big hitters are where they should be, above my name on the results.

That is my fault EP... now I had a typo... 🤪  I meant that to read 19, not 11.  Sorry about that.  you followed my directions perfectly... my directions were sketchy ... I'll get it corrected for you.

Yes, that field has been confusing... I'm working to edit the description on that.

If you edit your post, and enter the strokes over par in that field (you shot 90 on a par 71 so that would be 11 strokes over par).  When you enter 11 there, it will subtract your course handicap and post your -6 🙂  Let me know if you have any trouble editing the post and I can give you a hand.

🙋‍♂️ I need remedial help, guess adding the score only put in a new line - didn't find the edit apparently.

Today started with such promise!  Par on four of the first five holes (three of them net birdies).  Then then I struggled a bit.  8 putts in the first five holes, then 22 for the remaining fifteen holes!  I burned the edges so many times today.  I had 11 putts within 3 ft. or less.  I have to hope that eventually they will start to drop!  Other than that, very typical round.  Normal fairways in regulations, greens in regulation and up and downs.

Sounds like it very easily could have been 5 or 6 under G2M. Those putts will drop, just keep that approach game going!!

First full round this week and at a course other than my home course; only 2nd time I've played it this year.  Greens are nice but slower than our greens; had three 3-putts!!! I did birdie the 2nd hardest hole for a net eagle though with a stuffed Heavenwood.

We had a 7:44 tee time; got off at 10:02 after the frost delay.  I had new Under Armor leggings on under pants; wool hat with ear flaps; 4 layers on top, the outer layer a new heated jacket/vest that my wife got me for my birthday last May!  🤣  I tried out the new Mizuno winter golf gloves; took them off after the first hole.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Thank you kindly!  As for going to play more golf...

I did head out to play more golf as soon as I sent that last post.  It was a foursome that was last together on a hot beginning of September day.  Unlike the first time when I was inspired by their exceptional playing, today was cold and wet and play involved many more hits each, mine was the pendular swing from the second lowest score of all times to the kind of score I had years ago when I was learning to play golf.  More golf is good but this round will not be part of my MGS Tour reported rounds 😆 I'll just say it was the most exercise I have had in a single round and the cheapest round of golf per swing I have played in years!

That sounds way too hot.  As long as the wind is down and the sun is up the max I put on is a thin thermal, t-shirt, flanel on top.  Thin thermal leggings and regular cargo golf pants with some decent socks on the bottom.  The rest of the workout keeps me warm.  That outfit even works if theres a slight drizzle as I usually sweat it off.   That's good until about 38° or so, then I may need a vest or longer shell if it's windy.  Walking of course.  Cart requires a jacket.

Hey 227 in the slop is not a bad drive Mr. M.  So what was the major swing change you made on the 2nd round?  Playing Hooky Golf is some of the best golf there is!!

I tried out some "advice" from a few YouTube coaches I follow.  Usually I can't put anything they are trying to convey into a practical motion, but was sick of the OSIO (Out Side In Open) swing I've had.  Tried to get a better back swing motion and find a way to keep it closed.  So, started with a few lateral warmups where I have the driver out in front of my chest in a closed position, then do a "backswing" rotation parallel to the ground.  Then do the downswing motion and notice what my club face is doing.  It led me to discover that I needed to tighten the screw with my wrist a bit on the downswing to close it up.   That's the fist major change.

The second major change was how I was approaching my backswing.  First I started off with a bit narrower stance so I could get full hip rotation.  I've probably been way too wide in the past.  My old backswing practice was to draw the club head out along the ground, then bring it up to where I felt my wrists break naturally.  This led to two problems.  One is that I couldn't reliably feel when the weight of the club transitioned into "hang time", and it often led me to also shift my hips a bit as I was pulling back.  All of this lead to an off balanced shallow backswing with my weight more on my back foot.  Since I couldn't feel where the club was, it was also prone to rushing and pushing the arms instead of turning and letting it flow.  Since the ideal position at the top of the backswing is to have the club head pointing to the target, I figured I should just skip all of that middle stuff and just put it there.  This did wonders.  It changed up my tempo, got my weight on my front foot and head over the ball and let me just turn through.  Add in the wrist twist from the first change and the darn thing flew like it was supposed to.  I think I still have a bunch of work to do to get dynamic angle of attack better as I think I tend to be a bit flat now, but it sure is a big difference.

I'll try and get a shot tracer video tomorrow to compare to the one I posted before of my "old" swing.

This round started off quit AWFUL. 7 on the first two holes, two lost balls and one ****** of a bunker shot. I’ll post pics and video.

Damn dude, for it not rolling your way at the beginning to wind up with -7 is something to cheer about.  And 383 is a hell of a drive, even if it's lucky.

I tend to play worse on CPO days unless I either push cart my bag, or carry... As much as I play my course, I really should know the distances better, but I'm too dependent on the range finder I guess.  But I understand you comment about being busted after 15 holes!  Yet you still shot 5 under!  Nice playing Foz!

It was tough in all honesty, I boogied 3 which was a great boogie as my drive was topped and went maybe 100 yards, good second shot to get to the fairway and really nice 120 yard to put me 10' from 3 hole and 2 putted for a 5. If it wasn't for that the bar was only about 300 yards away and I would have just walked off.

I have no idea how my drive got to the back of the green. I was on the fringe and putted it to about 5' and then made that for bird. I should have taken a picture of that one but I was surprised it was my ball. We looked where we thought it should have and then my buddy says, Well there is a ball on the back side of the green thats been there since they rolled up. None of thought it was mine until I was about 20' from and could see my "J"  in red sharpie. I stayed away from it so they could confirm it was my ball. It was pure luck and wish I knew what it hit to get there. When I teed off there was a group of 2 on the green that we let play through. They never motioned or acted like a ball just rolled on the green.

Temps dropped about 20 degrees since yesterday; low 50s, and it was pretty breezy.

Struggled with driver but was generally happy with the rest of my game.  Unfortunately the driver put  me in some bad spots and I couldn't convert all the up and downs.  Round had some promise after 9, but slowly fell apart on the back.

Yes, I just saw that Kenny.  I'll make sure I include all scores in the final leaderboard tomorrow.  I had a few updates posted earlier today on the tourney thread and it looks like the post score button was removed.  We'll get it fixed shortly.

WEEK 7 FINAL LEADERBOARD

MYGOLFSPY FORUM MEMBER CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR

==========================================

Thanks to everyone for your patience with the end of round glitch in the score posting.  I believe I have captured all the rounds from this week here:

image.png

Even with the inclement weather we are starting to experience, we still had a strong showing with 20 rounds posted this week!  Without further adieu, I present the....

WEEK 7 WINNERS:

Low Net Score:

image.png

Taking home the MGS Forum Black Jacket this week....

image.png

image.png

For golfers with less intestinal fortitude, the start of the round at Gearhart Links would have sent them into the Pacific Ocean - but @JFish350overcame back to back 7's on holes 1 & 2, to finish strong with a 7 under par net 65, and the winner of the Week 7 Black Jacket Badge!  Congratulations!!  Leading into the weekend, and continuing to follow the VWCT of Play Often-Post Often @EasyPutter put together an impressive round of 6 under par at Concord Crest GC to finish in 2nd Place.  @revkev also posted a strong round of net 5 under par at Bayou Club to finish in 3rd.

Most Net Birdies or Better:

image.png

This week's winner for Most Net Birdies or Better:

@EasyPutter doesn't go away empty handed... his round at Concord Crest GC of net -6/65 also was the result of 8 net birdies or better - which claims the Birdie Badge for Week 7.  Closely behind were @revkev with 7 net birdies or better, a tie for 3rd with 6 net birdies or better by @JFish350 and @Mr. Mushball.  Great playing everyone!

Longest Drive:

image.png

This week's Longest Drive winner is:

image.png

image.pngimage.png

The longest drive this week was posted by @JFish350 with an astounding drive of 383 yards.  There are no words for that!!  That drive will win this weeks MGS Forum Cup Points which will result in a pretty significant move up the year long points list!  However, since he is already sporting the MGS Forum Black Jacket, this week's Longest Drive Badge goes to @PMookie with his 313 yard drive at Clear Creek GC.  Honorable mention to @snicerz who also posted a 300+ yard drive this week.

Congratulations to all the winners and a huge thank you to all who continue to post their rounds as part of the MYGOLFSPY FORUM MEMBER CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR.
