I take the on line fittings as guidance.  They tend to point you to a specific ball (maybe the one they are trying to move?).  I entered vastly different parameters including swing speed and it told me to use the same ball.  Really true when you use a brand specific fitting tool.  Titleist told me to use the ProV1 (not the 1x) for every parameter I entered.

I did the vastly different parameters as well and still got advised to hit the same ball, wasted my data for b.s.like that.

I’m a hacker who loves nothing more than to change how I play, be that grips shafts and heads its all fair game lol…

The only club in jeopardy in my bag right now is the TSR2 3-wood if I can somehow get my hands on a 14.5º TSR2+. Hopefully there will be some floating around on the interwebs come summer.

FWIW- Back in the day- Callaway made a 3Deep in 14* and it was magical off the deck, tee, out of the rough. It was a pretty good chipper too.

Yep, I can get the loft I want with the face sitting just a touch open, as opposed to the stock 13º which wouldn't sit quite as nice.

Worth consideration? Can't quite decide between a dedicated 5 wood, 18° hybrid, or that UW specifically

To me- yes it is. It just fits. I don't carry a 3 or 4 wood. I've used it in numerous different situations, and it's never let me down. There have been a few operator errors, but the club is auto pilot for me. I can draw it (which is not the easiest thing for me to do)/fade it, knock it down or launch it. It's great off the deck, from the tee box or pretty nasty rough. It naturally gives me the launch I want with the control I need. If I can't get there with my driver and this club (475-500ish yards), I'm either playing off the wrong tees or it puts me at just the right distance for my favorite shots- so to me it's a win/win situation. Sorry if I got a little long winded....

Safe:

Entire short game setup. This is my weakest element to my game so I committed to playing '23 with the same equipment to try to develop comfort. Includes Sik DW 2.0 C slant neck putter, Callaway Jaws FT 56°/12° and Vokey sm8 52°/10°  Also my 6i-AW Callaway Apex '19 see no reason for change here. My old trusty XR 4W and TS2 driver are tuned in and staying.

Due for adjustment:

Hybrids Callaway Super currently 20°@22° and Epic Super 24°@25°. I don't think they will stay there. Those settings are 8 months old when I was hitting my 6i 10 yards less on average. I'm sending it more often and can get it to back pins from 155yd ish. Avg is in the 150 range now. I know from previous testing I can average a smooth 175yd with the 5H if it's adjusted down to 23° that's why I had it at 26° then recently 25°. I don't want a big gap there. The 3H is set at +2 mainly to accommodate the +1 on the 5H. If I go down 20° there it's actually the purest ball flight.

Already booted overboard: chipper

Odyssey Marxman X Act w/ Superstroke Tour Traxion 2.0 37° putting wedge is in the guest bag next to my dad's old glide 2.0 ws 56°.

On the chopping block: The idea of playing only 13 clubs. I'm a fan of trying out new stuff. I doubt I go long before I buy or trade (Check my WTT post in the BTS section, gratuitous plug) for something *new

*to me

Top contenders at the moment: 1)Sub70 699u 24° w/ KBS tgi 70 graphite or Steelfiber shaft 2)Apex '19 or '21 5i w/ Steelfiber or Elevate 95 steel shaft 3)Maltby TS3 5i w/ Steelfiber or KBS tgi 70 graphite shaft 4)Titleist T300 5i w/ Steelfiber shaft 5)Titleist TSi2 13.5° w/ MCA tensei blue 6)Ping G425 14.5° stock graphite

Safe: Epic Max Heavenwood. Holy hell, I don’t feel like I can miss this thing. I picked it up off the used rack with Golf Galaxy reward points (“earned” from buying new irons) and it is all-around the most solid in the bag. Needless to say, the irons are safe, too, as they only have one round on them, so far (Srixon ZX4 Mk II 5-7; ZX5 Mk II 8-P). Wedges are confidently safe, as well (Ping Glide 3.0, 50, 54, 58 Eye2).

Curious: Driver (PXG 0811X) I’m happy with it now; that said, “the grass is always greener…”

In jeopardy: The putter. Odyssey O-Works 2-ball fang. I feel like I’ve lost my touch with it; I’m blowing putts past the hole by a good amount (which is most likely operator error, but still…)

Will add: Epic Max 3W to match the HW. I like the look and feel of the club at address, and they’re only $200 new. Easy purchase.

Salutations to all,

Just got rid of my pxg 0211 from a few years back. 6-pw. Hit the new Srixon zx5 mkII.
shaft is a Mitsubishi OTI 95S. I must say big difference in trajectory as in higher. Tighter dispersion also. Another 10 yards in distance too.yy
Next might be might PXG 25 hybrid.
Going to check out Taylormade as well as Callaway.
I usually get fit at either Club Champion in Rochester NY or TrueSpec golf in Orlando. I like TrueSpec because it’s outside at that location.

Rogue Driver, Stealth Wedges and the Anser are safe.

Chopping block(in order):

1. Irons

2. 3 Wood

3. 3 Hybrid

Things I might change is the 3 Hybrid into a Utility or a 5 Wood. I'm also thinking about splitting my irons and going with different models for my 4 iron and possible 5 depending on the numbers.

What's safe is my Callaway Epic driver (original Flash AI face).....I'm not going to pay another $500-600 for another 1-1/2 yards 🤪

Last year's acquisitions: Ping G425 irons & Cleveland CBX wedges are also safe. The Pings are a huge improvement from my i20s.

ANY putter in my bag is always nervous, but I switched from a S-bend face-balanced mallet to a slant neck mallet for a little toe-hang this season. Stats will tell the truth.

Chopping block: Cobra 3W & 21 deg hybrid. I played a 7W years ago & sorry I ever dumped it 😔

For right now everything is safe. I'll swap out my 7 wood for my 3 iron depending on course and conditions.  I'm seriously thinking about going in for a comprehensive fitting later this year. My golf lessons and swing changes are becoming more consistent,  so a relook at my gear may be in order. It's got to be the clubs right?

BTW. Who has clubs that they switch out depending on course conditions (soft/hard fairways,  packed or soft sand bunkers, rough height, links or parkland layout, Windy, wet, hot, cold conditions.? As i mentioned above, I'm going to switch between my 7 wood and 3iron but I'm also looking at getting a wedge or two with more bounce.

The top of my bag is the most recent change.   I replaced my fairway wood to a 16.5 TSI, I also changed my hybrids to both 4 and 5 to TSI.  I changed all three because I can set them to upright like my TSR driver.  Now the only thing in my bag that is open to be changed is the Ball.  I am playing both the Srixon z star divide and the 2023 Pro V1  Pending a month of testing.

I used to do this, but the new 3-iron launches into the stratosphere and I can still hit the trusty stinger with it, so I just play the same setup everywhere
