Member Testing: Product Picks

Simple, altho we cannot make any guarantees as to what could and will come for member testing, what would you like to see come for testing. Not what you want to test, but read and see tested.

Submit your pick or idea and if you see others you like give it an upvote. Maybe if we get enough interest we can pitch it and make it happen!?

I would love to see another Long Game Test, like what Ping had a few years back.

Pured/flo’d versus non:  2 clubs sent to testers and only the person running the test knows which is which.

graphite/aftermarket putter shafts:  I liked the fujikura test but felt the reviews were a little more putter centric and not shaft centric.

Aimpoint: send some people to an ai point class and see if it helps, their putting performance.

From a brand perspective, I know it's a long shot but it'd be nice to have some of the big OEMs back, or some new OEMs that to my knowledge we've never had. Obviously out anyone's control but HQ, but something that certainly drives a lot of interest and interactions.

Experiences, perhaps a fitting at True Spec/Club Champion/Golf Galaxy or whatever national chain we can get, for a specific club that is then provided to the tester as a review opportunity. Probably too much logistical cooperation between the fitter and OEMs, though. Would possibly be doable for a small brand like Sub70 where we could have local (or not so local) players go to their facility and be fit.

Golf course review? Possible to get some sort of stay-and-play or just a round of golf. Falls further from the equipment perspective but might be of interest to some properties.

Small items that are quick one or two post reviews - divot tools, tees, club brushes, grips, etc. Would be a good opportunity to get new members involved. Also on that note, perhaps a "demo review" where members are sent a club to test and send back (Edel SMS irons seem to be going around Twitter at the moment in this fashion).

... A 3 wood vs 5 wood would be very interesting, especially for different index levels. The 3 wood should be the "normal" 15* as well as HL models with same shaft lengths and the stock 5 wood with its shorter shaft. I think it might be an eye opener for more than a few.

I love the idea of a head to head testing of fitters. Maybe get HQ to fund having one of our members, with a testing background like @cnosilgo through a fitting at a big box store, a corporate type like CC or Golftec  and a reputable indy fitter. Then run a comparison of the data, recommendations and costs. This would cost under $1K and would fit the mission that HQ espouses.

Armlock putters. Super stroke grips and /or their weights in their grips, Aussie tour hats? Hahaha GPS watch, I second aftermarket putter shafts, good shoes especially with that cable system to see if they're any good. Performance gear? Like shirts and shorts, spikeless shoe performance in rain? If such a thing exists. Groove sharpener, HIFROM has a good following from Amazon, there is a crazy groove cleaner, I think frogger? Is the brand. All the small things that are unsung heroes in our day to day golf games that add up to us being our most effective. Obviously drivers and putters and wedges are super cool but the other stuff plays a big part.

box sets are certainly a intersting one and as we haven't done one before I certainly see the appeal. Of course would be interesting to see what clubs stay vs what clubs end up getting replaced...

I would like to see trials of bags of all types. Having a real person from the forum try them out and report what they think would heavily sway my purchasing decisions.

So like the most wanted but with members?

I always trusted Harry's opinion doing them. With him moving to Wilson it will be curious to see how that space develops.

With the member testing season approaching and one we hope to be able to kick off with a bang we want to know from all of you again what you are hoping to see come to testing this year. Even if it has been said before let us know as we create a list of what would be our "must see tested" items for member testing in 2023!

While clubs are fun and always interesting and what people seem to want.  I am thinking about more unique items that might help a golfer get better;  like the current Devil Ball test.  I loved doing and am still learning from the ShotScope LX+ test.

Perhaps we could test things like:

https://touraimgolf.com/  - does this help players get better and improve skills.

https://trueaimmarker.com/ - For those that are a little more mechanical vs feel based in their putting does this help improve on course performance

https://tourreadgolf.com/ - maybe give 1 year subscriptions to see if people can read greens better

https://aimpointgolf.com/ - while getting a course for people would be difficult since not everyone has an instructor close by; a review of the video might be nice.

https://dewizgolf.com/ - There have been some comments about this lately including people from the company,  are they willing to offer up a couple for forum members to test?

I suppose the tough thing about this would be how many golfers can use an over the rack set and have those settings for their swing dynamics.
