Where are you thinking of playing? I live 45 minutes south and can be there any time. Chuck @cksurfdudeis getting in around 12:30 but not sure if he wants to play after getting off a plane. Not sure about anyone else's schedule. I don't even know what time we can check in yet. But the other option since you will be almost driving right past me is you can play my course for about four times less than the Pinehurst area courses. It's not the greatest but it's not bad either. I was actually thinking of playing there before I headed over to the resort.

But we are open to suggestions.

Mid Pines will run you around $185 and Tobacco Road about $215 in June. TR is a rough warm up course with a 145 slope rating. Probably can get better rates through Talamore since we are on their golf package. I live in the area so I can play any course at any time so you guys do what you want to do since you are traveling to get there and might not have the opportunity to get back any time soon. Hit your bucket list courses if that's what you want. Technically I'm working that Friday until 11:45 but I work from home and can probably do whatever I need to do to get out.

I will call tomorrow to talk to someone at Talamore about tee times at their partner courses and let y’all know what I find out.

If any of the folks from MyGolfSpy have any insight or interest let us know.

TR is a crazy fun track that may make you scratch your head from time to time and Mid Pines is well, Mid Pines (great venue and course). Appreciate the leg work on finding something for the early birds. Can't wait to meet everyone and see some of last year's crew... Get 'em dialed in fellas...

Mid Pines and TR would be great for you guys, but you could also check into Beacon Ridge, Southern Pines (another Donald Ross course) or Legacy.  Tom may have additional input on those, but these would be nice to play as warm up rounds.

Beacon Ridge only takes tee time reservations a week ahead.

So I booked a tee time at Legacy Golf Links for a foursome on Friday, June 9th at 1:27PM.

Right now the players will be myself (Jordy Evans), my friend David Widincamp, Jwc5149, and Siamese Moose.

If any of you don’t want to play then the first alternate will be Tom the Golf Nut.

There are more tee times immediately after ours if anyone else is interested in playing.

Green fees with cart are $89 per player.

Yes, I was actually chillin at Dollys house. She lives in Nashville. And for the bars, well, kinda lost count. Good thing I’m  a ball. I couldn’t fall down. Just rolled down the street to the next bar. But it sucks being small. I got stepped on a few times. Note to self. Cowboy boots hurt.
The next day I hurt , kind of felt like a green ball, and I wasn’t so smart. I hitched a ride 3 hours to Dollywood. I puked on one of the rides. Also note that yellow and green don’t look that good together.
Let’s just chalk it up to a warmup for that Moonshine I heard about. I’m building up tolerance.

Side note: I didn’t see my name on the rooming list. Don’t make me sleep in a golf bag again!

  • 3 weeks later...

This has been a great trip so far and I'm not even to Pinehurst yet. After Dollywood I rolled on down the road to Asheville and settled in at the Biltmore. What a cool place to visit.

OIP.jpg.ee0313315123de94c2dc8953a1f3187f.jpgOIP.jpg.531f87122f6fdafb7ac929fc9696e865.jpg

I got on one of those tours of the place. Some really cool stuff but I will say I could barely get my butt in some of those bathrooms. Do you see that ceiling. Reminds me of one of those game I would put the kids in when they were little. You know the one where you try to roll the ball around a maze until it falls in the hole. It always a good teach for the golf greens as they get older. This place has 250 rooms and it's not even a hotel. This rich guy George that has it built even has a built-in pool in the basement. He just forgot to fill it with water. So, me being me, I rolled right in using it like a skate boarder would. It was fun for a minute or two until security came. Some people just have no sense of humor. After being kicked out of yet another fine establishment I found that they have a winery on site. You know I had to roll in for a sip or thirty. I was trying to build up the tolerance for the Moonshine I have read about. I slept on a park bench last night.... Correction, I woke up on a park bench this morning with quite the wine hangover.  It will be a slow roll this morning. Maybe I can hitch a ride or something. I have 9 more days before all my tormenting can begin. Heck if I like it there, I might not go back home. I already wore my dimples off getting this far.

Air flights? Check. Rental car? Check. Ship Sticks rez? Check. Balance of trip fee paid? Check. Air fights changed on me? Yep. New flights found? Check. Refund from the changed flight? Painful but, Check. Change rental car rez to coordinate with new flights? Painful and, nope. (Note to self: be very careful with Priceline Express Deals on the future.) Parking at airport booked? Check. Change Ship Sticks rez? Oh wait .. actually don't have to do that!!

....just have to pack the travel case carefully to stay within weight limit .. so I guess that means I'm probably either carrying myself or buying down there the two dozen golf balls I was planning on having with me 🤪😂

I play those courses pretty regularly (Pine Needles less often) and its pretty easy to keep the ball in play on most holes.  I'm not saying you absolutely won't need all those balls, but I bet you'll be bringing at least a dozen home with you.

For everyone going, have an absolute blast!!

There is a DSG right down the road in Aberdeen. But, your bag should weigh in at 35 lbs with a dozen balls. The limit is 50 lbs. You will be fine. OR I can bring you a dozen or two if your not that picky. I get balls all the time and most I don't play with. I gota take care of my room mate right? I'll throw a bunch in my car just in case anyone runs low. (new in the box balls)
