I’ve heard about this move. Not everyone loves it.

The sales tactic or the face tech itself?

I should have been ready for that with a club that looks like it was born in a bowling alley, but from a guy that's touched it, trust me. Variable Face Thickness is real...

  • Golfspy_CG2 changed the title to 2023 Callaway PARDYM Driver Launch

This is a complete shift in performance, with a design that breaks the tradeoff between incredible distance and exceptional forgiveness. The Paradym Shift Construction features an industry-first 360 Carbon Chassis that eliminates titanium from the body, so we can push weight and stability to the limit. Paradym X model is built for a high launch with high MOI, along with a generously stretched profile at address. This model is best suited for golfers seeking extreme forgiveness and a slight draw bias from their driver.

Features & Benefits

An Industry-First 360° Carbon Chassis 360° Carbon Chassis promotes unprecedented weight redistribution for maximized distance. The Triaxial Carbon crown and Forged Carbon sole is 43% lighter than a titanium chassis. This massive weight savings is repositioned both forward for fast ball speeds, and toward the back of the clubhead for higher MOI and increased forgiveness.

Speed & Stability from New Jailbreak A.I. Our new A.I. designed Jailbreak system provides stability in both the horizontal and torsional direction. Now with a 33% lighter weight design, we’ve enhanced stability for faster ball speeds from our industry-leading COR.

New A.I Designed Face Optimized for Downrange Dispersion An all-new A.I. face optimization enhances speed, launch and spin, and now downrange dispersion. This is the world’s most advanced driver face designed by artificial intelligence.

Industry-Leading Face Cup and Forged Titanium Face for Fast Ball Speeds Paradym is the first driver to utilize Callaway’s industry-leading face cup technology. We’ve paired the face cup with a powerful, forged titanium face, a combination that provides higher energy transfer to the ball than a standard driver face insert.

High Launch & Low Spin from a Forgiving Shape Paradym X is built for a high launch with high MOI, along with a generously stretched profile at address. This model is best suited for golfers seeking extreme forgiveness and a slight draw bias from their driver. 5g of rear weight is positioned to increase launch and lower spin for maximum carry distance.

Not a bad article at all. The shaft matrix is a little disappointing but more so is a counter balanced shaft not going to be a must on this driver now??? Is this driver too light?

Wouldn't it be the opposite a heavier head would require a counterbalanced shaft. I don't believe the head weight is much different than others, it is more that they have just repositioned the weight in different areas.

Yes, heavier heads typically get the counterbalanced shafts.   The weight will come down to personal preference.  When hitting them, I was asked if the lighter weight of one of the heads was an issue.  For me it wasn’t.

... UST had a shaft system with their I.T. shaft. 100gms but titanium weave in the handle, very counter balanced allowing for a heavier head on a shorter shaft which in theory produced more accuracy and better center contact while the heavier head produced more distance. Fred Couples played it for years, as did several others. Too stout for me these days but I still have one:

No id say at a bare minimum they are 1-2MPH faster with a potential uptick based on the stability. The more trust, the harder you will want to swing.

In the TXG video, Johnny said just the three, pretty much coves all they need.   And based on watching Matt hit all three you coudl actually see how they all work exactly as desgined.  That was pretty cool

edit:  Ooops, saw the Johnny alredy answered that.

Not at the moment. Have you seen it live yet? The pics dont do it justice.

... I have not which is why I said "if it isn't obnoxiously blue". I just don't like golf clubs colored by Smurfs. 😉

Quick: favorite video review so far:  Finchy's is always top-notch, Robinson nearly lost his mind, Shiels seems to be a little bit in love with the standard Paradym, and Al just hits the ball so far it feels unfair.

Are you seeing gains with "normal" golfers, especially on the off-center strikes (or, what I like to call, "strikes")?

And for what it's worth, every reviewer saying it's "one of the best-looking drivers I've ever seen" is encouraging, because (as you said earlier), the pics don't do it justice.  Very curious to see this thing in person.

Last question: seriously, is your last name really "Wunder"?  This is like being a weatherman with the last name of Thunder, or Rains. Possible, sure, but...come on, man 🙂

(thanks for being here!)

Oh! Sheesh (this was the reason I was excited to ask you questions) - I'm not really in the market for a driver, but I AM very much interested in the Paradym irons - curious what kind of results you're seeing from people hitting those - I'm kind of at the high end of the recommended hcp (currently 11.6), but coming from a GI set and looking to segue into a PD set.  Curious what kind of things you're seeing (if you've started this process, that is), especially comparing against the Rogue Pro.

Also, thank you for designing the Paradym X to actually be attractive GI irons - they're a slick-looking stick.
