GolfSpy_APH
Series 7 style for me.. or fanged putters. Altho the Ping Fetch is inviting as well. Those two styles help my alignment and since going to them I have never had better putting results. I have both of those and don't intend on going blade route. However for me it seems to be shaft difference that has caught me a bit off guard. The Strokelab shaft is far superior for me vs a standard steel. seemoreputters, sirchunksalot, EasyPutter and 1 other 4 Quote as of Nov 6, 2023 (Past WITB) Driver: Paradym TD w/ GD ADDI 6X Driver Shootout! EasyPutter
I have one putter in my bag, the L.A.B. Golf DF2.1 There are many like it but this is the one I chose with a single alignment line as long as the mallet head. I selected the mallet head because it is easy to observe before and during the swing that the club face is properly meeting the ball for a putt in the direction I intend for it to go. My putting swing is designed to be clubhead centric so that all my attention is on keeping the line parallel to the intended starting path of the putt and the ball is just an incidental blur at the point of contact as it should be for every swing regardless of club type. cnosil
I like putters so I try different putters; I have tried most every style and have had the most success with blade or at most a small mid-mallet style. GolfSpy_KFT
I've always had a mid mallet style putter. Started with a Nike OZ T100 that was given to me by one of my uncle's friends. Absolutely loved the feel and it rolled the ball well, but I decided I needed a new one so sold it and went to a Taylormade Spider Tour a couple seasons ago. Really like that one as well, but the feel of that Nike putter was amazing. Softer feeling at impact, still somewhat regret selling it. ChuckZ
We are always looking for the perfect putter, but is there really such a thing? But maybe I am getting a bit off subject, so I will direct my comments to the question asked. I have tried numerous styles over the years and regardless of the brand it always comes back to the Anser style putter. Currently I maintain two putters in my inventory. I have the 2020 Select Special Newport 2 35" and the new Ping PLD Black Matte Milled Anser 35". For faster greens I prefer the Ping and the Scottie on all other greens. Could be that in between thing, you know, in between the ears. It all goes back to the individual pulling the trigger and the confidence that goes with rolling the ball to the hole. Just like the pros, we have good putting days and some days that hole just seems to tighten up. Love that Anser style putter. Christof, I spent a lot of time (beginning Jan 2015) converting to cross handed, and looking at the hole on putts longer than about 6 or 7 feet. Courtesy of Jordan Speith. I Had a center shaft Odyssey face balanced and a Musty wood mallet also face balanced. Someone stole the Odyssesy. I bot a Cameron circa 2015 Futura X, with the big flying counterweights. I liked the Musty but had trouble keeping the short ones straight. I considered adding weight to the head/bottom of the shaft to keep it from twisting. But instead I starting working on stability with the heavy Futura. It won. I also have a K-mart brand mallet style that is lightweight, but am ready to give it back to a thrift store since I like the Musty and love the Cameron. I might entertain a new putter, but it will be a pretty heavy, face balanced design, whether Ping, Evnroll, or any other newcomer. I have NO FEAR on the greens. It is almost as much fun as banging a driver on a wide fairway.
