What's Your Go To Hat?

My favorite hat is my PXG New Era flex fit hat. But I did purchase a Joel Dahmen End Cancer Old Norse Sun protection hat for the really sun days.

like the rest of you I have many many hats, collected over the years, I really like the fitted hats, and currently the one hat that I covet is my B.C.Amateur hat from my all time favourite course Christina Lake in the Kootenys of B.C. I never ever thought I would play a provincial championship at Christina Lake and I have played 2 now...

I had a few nice, fitted hats. Unfortunately, that was when I had hair. Now they turned into bucket hats! 🤣

Hello my name is Thomas and I have a problem with buying hats. I sadly can probably wear a hat a day and not have to repeat for 3 months. In my opinion there is no better hat then the Nike Classic 99. Especially for someone such as myself with a big head and an ever changing hairstyle. I like that it can stay on my head without giving me a headache.

I have several hats, way more than I need.  My go to hats are Melin hats.  Easy to clean, keep their shape and fit awesome.  I can swim in them, golf, jog, hike and anything else that comes up.  A little on the expensive side but they last as long as you need a hat too.  New Era baseball hats are great as well.

My go-to hat these days is Branded Bills, both on and off the course -- high quality, comfortable, have styles that match a lot of different tastes, and some great designs (assuming you're into repping 'merica or a specific state, but they branch out into other designs too). My two most-used right now are (stock photos from their website -- my white one actually has a white WI badge):

image.png.68fcc4221b954cb6be4dc0f6d0cd393f.png

For the joke or themed occasions, like certain scrambles or our league playoffs, I have a couple from Bogey Bros that feel like similar quality -- for the sake of keeping things clean, I'll withhold the specifics.

I used to love New Era 39THIRTY Flex (specifically the Ryder Cup versions, but also have some from courses I've played), and some of the Travis Mathew Flex hats, but the bands on both started to stretch and wear out pretty quickly with regular use, so only pull them out on occasion now.

Yes...that's one too many (not including the multiple putters). Lately I've been swapping in/out the 3-wood and 50* wedge depending on how I feel that day. Also swap out the 58* for one of multiple 60* options...like I said, headcase.

I have no hair to yell at me, so it's SPF hats all-day, every-day for this baldy 😉

My favorite hat by far is the Henschel Aussie Breezer hat.  It is rated UPF 50+ with a 3 inch brim that provides a lot of shade.

Depends on the weather.  In Texas, we can golf all year long. Winter temperatures may be in the 30's but courses rarely close. During the winter I wear a cap because I can wear a knit beanie over it.  During the summer, I wear a hat with a brim & mesh top that can also be soaked in water. Texas heat can be triple digits.

Don't have a special cap but do have a favorite brimmed hat, Dorfman Pacific.

Arc'teryx makes things light, packable waterproof and well. I use Arc'teryx for cold weather beanie, rain jacket, and golf hat. I'm 62 and carry my own clubs and have little patience with extraneous, inefficient and poorly made items.

The hat in question weighs 1.7 ounces, is gortex, breathable, offers great uv protection and packs down to the size of my thumb. It also looks decent and doesn't crumple badly. Arc'teryx is an amazing company. https://arcteryx.com/us/en/shop/bucket-hat

I'm of Swiss ancestry. Play tournament golf at a 4 handicap and most often carry.  Plenty of mountain climbers in the family. I treat my golf accouterments like a serious mountain climber. Everything packs down or it doesn't go. Use 11 clubs, with the gap wedge doing double service as a cane. The bag is sun mountain 2.5 though I'm aware Honma has released a lighter one. 6 golf balls max. I often play in inclement weather, so gortex is a must.

Inclement in Alabama?

Being a slave to fashion (not really), I have to wear a hat with a color that goes with the whole outfit.  As far as a brand goes, I have to go with Ahead.  I have several of their Palmer wide brimmed hats on the days where the wind lays down enough that the hat says on my head.  On normal days, living in the Keys, I like their lightweight fabric hats that are moisture wicking and much cooler to wear than a pure cotton-based hat.   Playing year round with a high percentage of hot and sunny days can get pretty brutal on most hats.

I'll also wear hats that are tied to various events and/or holidays.  I'll put my three Masters hats in play leading up to and including that week.  US Open and PGA Championship hats during those weeks.  I do have one Open hat, but it's small and makes my head look too big!

When not playing golf and walking around town, my go to hat is a very faded and stained yellow Ahead hat from the 2003 PGA Championship at Oak Hill (my former hometown).   It's been with me for 20 years (half as long as I've been married).  It's a special relationship!
