Trying to go the non-surgical route for a chronic tweaked trail knee. Going to the doctor next week. Likely, PT after that. Just getting prepared. In the past, have been told I have tight hips, which maybe leading to over use of the knee in the golf swing. That's another piece of this to play pain free. Quote

I've had both knees replaced (arthritis was the issue for me). Extensive rehab is required after knee replacement. Knee replacement aside, exercise and stretching of the joints (knees, hips, feet, arms) is never a bad idea. I recommend finding a good plan for exercising those hip and knee joints and doing so on a regular basis, regardless. russtopherb Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 Exercises and stretches are really going to depend on the root cause of the pain. If your hips are tight, there's plenty of great free vids on YouTube that you can try out and see what gives you relief. My knee pain is due to patellofemoral syndrome which has some exercises I've done to help (and I also stretch my hips a lot since the femoral tendon ends up at the hips) but those may not work for you if your knee pain is due to something else. Once you see the doc they should be able to point you in the right direction. NM01 Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 If the issue is joint related then the chances are surgery is the only option. if it’s muscular or as the result of some other issue like right hips, weak glutes then it could possibly be fixed thru pt and corrective exercises. I would search out a certified corrective exercise specialist after the visit with the doctor and a second opinion from a pt. Some PTs may have corrective exercise experience but some don’t. Bang60 Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 I've recently had knee problems and was taking 8paracetamol and 8ibuprofen a day for extreme pain, what helped me was finally I saw a physio who's really good and I've attached the exercises she got me to do, good luck... Thanks, for sharing. The first doctor I saw wanted to do surgery. I guess I should have not gone to a surgeon not wanting to do surgery as a first option. I am hoping the DO doc will connect me a good PT to get back on track. They do have a golf related PT, that will be a bonus. Quote

What did he diagnose? Actually, this one was in a rush to do surgery. He suspected I have a torn medial meniscus. He said, we can do an MRI. But, he wouldn't trust the results. He said, let's to this arthroropically and it's the orthos version of getting a dental cleaning, simple! I immediately booked another doc for a second opinion. Both agreed my hamstring, quads, hips and lower back are tight. Started to get some good results after 3 weeks of exercises for these areas. But, then I think we over did the open book exercises to get some better rotation in for the golf swing. Back to square one this week. Will skip the open book excercises for a while.
