Golf Shoe Sole Repair-Loctite Shoe Glue

I've have a pair of Adidas BOA golf shoes that I've had for over a year and has 150-200 rounds on them.  The uppers and BOA mechanism were in good shape, but cleats were worn and in need of replacement.  As I was removing them, I noticed on one of the shoes the outer rubber part of the sole started to separate from the shoe bottom.   The separation was about 6 inches long and about 1-1/2 to 2 inches in width.    On the other shoe, there was a similar separation, but not that big.  I thought I'd see if I could repair them, so I was off to Home Depot to see about some adhesive.

In the store, they only carried the Loctite Shoe Glue.  At around $6 so I thought I'd give it a try.  I cleaned the dirt that had managed to get between the two layers and cleaned it with rubbing alcohol.  After it dried I applied the adhesive and used three medium sized trigger clamps to ensure the two halves stayed together.  Inserting shoe trees helped the clamping process. After about 36 hours I released the clamps.  I have to say, Loctite Shoe Glue (yes, that's what it's called) worked perfectly!  The clear bond seems to be very strong.  I tried to pry around the edges where the two came together and there was no movement.  I was pleasantly surprised!

The final verdict will depend on how it holds up with the first of hopefully many rounds I have left with the shoes.  But so far, so good!

First round completed with the repaired Adidas BOA shoes and I have to say the Loctite Shoe Glue is performing very well.  After 18 holes the bond between the sole remain solid with no apparent cracks or breaks.  If I can get another several months out of the shoes, I'll be happy.  the $7 spent was a good investment in prolonging the life of very comfortable shoes I normally would have tossed,
