I'm only 3hrs and change up the east end of L Erie, depending on where and when it would be a good way to get the season going as my neck of the woods tends to be at least a couple weeks behind with the downwind effects of the colder lake delaying the season a bit. DiscipleofPenick
Ok so I'm just going to throw out 3 courses and let's see who is interested and where. Links to the course websites too Grey Hawk, Lagrange (Cleveland West) - https://www.greyhawkgolf.com/ Raintree, Uniontown (Akron/Canton) - https://www.golfraintree.com/ Royal American, Galena (Columbus North) - http://www.royalamericanlinks.com/ Grey Hawk is the closest to me and I play it at least once or twice a year, it's a really fun golf course. Raintree is one of my absolute favorite courses in NE Ohio. Royal American is a heathland style course. It's not links by definition because it's not built on the coast. If it looks like a links course, but sits inland, it's called a Heathland course. Does anyone in the Columbus area have info on Royal? Was this a good pick? tony@CIC 1 Quote Take Dead Aim Driver: PXG 0211 10.5* Fairway: Titleist 917 F3 15* Hybrid: Adams Idea Pro Boxer Gold 18* Irons: MacGregor MT-86 Pro Wedges: Vokey 50/54/58 Putter: SeeMore X2 Costa del Mar Ball: Srixon Z-Star
tobybtlr
Royal is a decent course. Last year the bunkers weren’t in the best shape, but they were working on them. Denison golf course is a Donald Ross and it’s always in great shape. Fast greens. tony@CIC and MattF 2 Quote Tobybtlr

It has had some negative reviews in the past years but signs are it's picking up (new owners as of this year). I certainly enjoyed playing there. If it's on the short list, for a short time you can get 'punch tickets' that drop the cost a bit. I could get those, and would make the round less than $50. tony@CIC, DiscipleofPenick and MattF 3 Quote Golf is Life.

Sleepy Hollow is Brecksville, Ohio. It's one you want to play in the summer and it's greens will kick your @$$. It's between me and the Akron spies, about 20 min drive for either of us. I'd love to do one there and/or Manakiki as well because they were both named as top 15 munis in the US last year. On another note, I saw Golf.com released their 'best of public' courses for each state. Of course 3 of the spots went to Firestone, which is only public in the broadest sense of the word . And the others are the same top courses they've been listing for 15 years (Virtues, Sleepy, Stonelick, Fowlers). Newark, seems like there's at lot of good places North and East of Columbus. I'll ask you if I think of any over the summer. tony@CIC and MattF 2 Quote Take Dead Aim Driver: PXG 0211 10.5* Fairway: Titleist 917 F3 15* Hybrid: Adams Idea Pro Boxer Gold 18* Irons: MacGregor MT-86 Pro Wedges: Vokey 50/54/58 Putter: SeeMore X2 Costa del Mar Ball: Srixon Z-Star
