I got invited to a first communion for very close friends on the 29th so I am planning on the 30th, and something around noon to let those with a drive get there without a rush. I want to get it booked by this weekend.

Wait until you try to putt on 13. Quite the front-to-back slope and false front. Long is really bad is there is no chance of stopping near the hole. 4 putts were not unheard of when I was in a league out there. 8 isn't too bad as it is very downhill and plays 20-ish yards shorter.

Generally, these are about the best greens in Akron and can be really fast. Unsure what kind of shape they'll be in so early in the season. They may not be fast, but I'm sure they'll roll nicely.

Looks like 7 already confirmed. I booked 3 times so if anyone else wants to get in, we have plenty of time before I would need to cancel that last one.

Also, I went old school and called the course for tee times, so everyone will just pay at the course when they show up. 

And I'm gald we have some Columbus area guys coming up. There's a bunch of courses between Cle and Cbus I want to check out so I'll be throwing out more ideas for the rest of summer.

Right. I love Turkeyfoot, but I refuse to pay their rates. It's a fun course, but it isn't worth $50.00 greens fees, IMO. For $12.00 more, I can play Chippewa.... a much better golf course.

I haven't played Chippewa in years, but I've heard it's arguably the nicest course in CLE now. And it's 4 greens away from being one of the best layouts too. 

Keep tabs on this thread, I'm going to plan more meetups throughout the summer and you'd be welcome at any of them!

In Florida $50. is cheap and typical for a low end course.

I think anymore in CLE about $50 for 18+cart is normal on a weekend. I think about $75 is the most expensive and you can still find stuff around $30 if you walk. Low cost of living helps, and we're really spoiled with the quality of courses we have. Very underrated area for golf.

T-minus one week till our first meet up @ Turkeyfoot Lake in Akron! So last call for any Spies who want to join in.

Also, the current forecast for Sunday is high of 54 and 60% chance of rain. We know that will change 3 more times before next Sunday, so I'm not worried yet. If we do get a rain out/cancel, I'm not going to try and reschedule, we'll just plan the next meet for May.

See I'm up on the west side of Cleveland, and there's some real dumps that charge $45 for 18+cart on a weekend morning. So to me, while that is a little towards the high side, it's not unreasonable to pay $50 for a quality course on a weekend.

I think Wednesday needs to be our go/no go decision day.

This sounds like good fun, but the oldest has a soccer tournament in Oxford all weekend. I will keep an eye on this thread for when you guys make the southern swing of the Ohio MGS Am Tour. Lot of nice courses down Cincinnati way, just saying… If the weather holds out have a great round!

Guys, I will follow this thread for upcoming meets. I am from NW Ohio originally, but now live north of Detroit (not many MGS in Michigan). I play with a regular group from Toledo area and meet up when they play on the border or in Michigan. I went to Kent State and lived in the area, so I have played many in Cleveland/Akron area as well as Dayton/Columbus as my group trip bounces around a little. If the next meet is an overnight or closer, I will try to make it work. Have fun

I wish I could make it this weekend but managed to make sure I can’t do anything more than put for the next few weeks, stupid meniscus. Heading west in the Northern part of the state Thunderbird Hills south course was real nice last time I played there. However, that was quite a while ago. Minus my time in the CG I have lived in the Akron/Canton area my whole life and never played the north side of Turkeyfoot!

Wouldn't be so bad bad if it was 120 yards, but Google Earth says it's more like 180 depending on tee and pin locations.
