Popular Post IndyBonzo
Good morning, Spies! A hot and busy week is on tap here! Looking forward to it, notwithstanding it's Monday. Lots to catch up on here in the forum! Played 18 yesterday. It was definitely a mixed bag, but enough good shots to keep me coming back. I just ordered a combo pak for my daughter from Maltby/Golfworks. Hoping this inspires her to play the game her whole life. She assured me last night she really wants to play a bunch. Popular Post BallsLeon
Good morning spies! Made it through a 115° heat index round yesterday. Should have worn a swimsuit cause I was soaked by hole 3. My playing partner and I started getting a little loopy on the back 9, possibly early signs of heat stress, but we managed to embrace the suck and have some fun. Hitting net should be arriving this week, so going to be getting that all setup in the backyard. Gonna be nice to hit whenever I want, and gives me something to do while I'm waiting on the smoker to be ready. Lots of extreme weather going on out there, hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. Popular Post Dead Solid Bogey
Good morning all…. Apologies for being late to the Monday morning musings. Spend way too much time with zero success in trying to find and bribe another family of wedges to come and give my HCOL golf bag a try. Was planning to go see about a second mortgage this morning to finance the demanded payment ( extortion ) for new wedges. Then DISASTER!!!! The new youthful management group at my phony- bologna job called and wants me to earn my pay. Somewhere in the conversation somebody mentioned it might be a “ little late in the game “ to expect me to be beneficial to the corporate good. Next I had a phone call from HR department ( I’ve got socks older than anybody in that department ) about my juvenile snarky commentary. After a pep talk and attempted attitude adjustment; I am on double, but not secret probation. Anyway, I am now packing to head to the hinterland of Texas to fulfill my corporate requirements. The wife person just inquired if she could help me pack and if my life insurance is up to date.. In a few days I hope to be able to pull a Douglas MacArthur and proclaim; “ I have returned “. May you all enjoy your week and find nothing but fairways and greens in your life. cksurfdude, IndyBonzo, RockerFCC and 7 others 8

I'm working on my Tuesday morning motivation by catching up on the forum and enjoying my coffee. It's going to be a long week knowing production has already been called for us on Saturday. I had a fun time at work yesterday talking to a buddy of mine about him getting fit for new irons over the weekend. He was fit into TaylorMade Stealth, KBS shafts, and 3° flat. The use of your feet is only part of the aimpoint system. The process of aimpoint express; which is what is taught now and not the full aimpoint system, is to feel the slope of the green with your feet and identify the percentage of slope. Let’s say you came up with 2% left to right. You then use 2 fingers (for 2 percent) to determine the spot you should aim at left of the hole. Part of the training is learning how to calibrate how far away you hold your fingers to adjust for the green speeds. You identify green speed prior to your round. Aimpoint does not do anything with your stroke so you can still work on “rhythm”. The greens on TV aren’t perfect which is why all you can do is control line and speed and sometimes putts go in and sometimes they don’t. Not matter what you still need to practice the various skills of putting:. Geoff Mangum defines them as Touch, Stroke, Reading, and Aiming. Rhythm falls under stroke. Aimpoint falls under reading. cksurfdude, Jim Shaw and sirchunksalot 3 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: Paradym AI Smoke Max HL 16.5* w/MCA TENSEI AV Series Blue Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Render w/VA Composites Baddazz Backup Putters: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe, Milled Collection RSX 2 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017
Shinnman
Im still at a loss with the aim point and being able to determine a slope of 2%. I use my eyes. sirchunksalot, tdroma98 and cksurfdude 3 Quote Driver: Cobra Aerojet 9* Ventus Red 5S shaft 3W: Cobra Aerojet Max Cobra LTDx 3H-5H 7-PW Callaway Rogue ST Max Elevate 85 steel shafts Wedges: Cleveland CBX zipcore steel 46*, 50*, 54*, 58* Putter: Odyssey Tri-hot 5K Rossie Ball: Titleist ProV1 or AVX

It comes with practice, just like you “practiced” with your eyes. Through experience you have taught yourself to determine break based on what you see. What happens is that architect uses landscape tricks to confuse you about what you see. I assume there have been instances where you see the break going one way but the ball curves the other, or and uphill putt looks downhill. This is your eyes lying to you that your feet wouldn’t fail to detect. Aimpoint teaches you how to use your feet to recognize what the slope is. Your body naturally reacts to varying slopes by adjusting your body to stay vertical and not fall over; aimpoint teaches you to recognize how much you have shifted. Then based on mathematical calculations translate that into how far left or right to aim. The effects of gravity are constant as a ball rolls across a plane so it will always break the same amount given the same green speed and slope. Shinnman
I get it, but I also play the same course twice weekly. Sometimes I check from both sides of hole and even from side. I do think too many aren’t looking at the green when walking up to it. Pay attention as you are walking to your ball. Lots of info staring right at you. sirchunksalot, tdroma98 and cksurfdude 3 Quote Driver: Cobra Aerojet 9* Ventus Red 5S shaft 3W: Cobra Aerojet Max Cobra LTDx 3H-5H 7-PW Callaway Rogue ST Max Elevate 85 steel shafts Wedges: Cleveland CBX zipcore steel 46*, 50*, 54*, 58* Putter: Odyssey Tri-hot 5K Rossie Ball: Titleist ProV1 or AVX
