The Good Morning Thread

Good morning MGSpies from a late spring cool morning in WNY on this Thursday.  Off work now until Tuesday with the get ready day arrived for the meetup weekend.  PGA HOPE session 6 of 6 this evening at Niagara Frontier GC then turning south for the overnight run to NC.  Today long anticipated has finally arrived, and though the adventure started beginning of the week when message traffic picked up with definite plan details and banter, the real excitement is knowing the push is on and wheels will soon be in motion.  Hope golf is a part of your day my friends

GM & Happy Thursday!  Up early, no golf today but went with SWMBO to help with her Feral Cat Colony.  I guess her group are going to try and Trap, neuter & get them to a safe place.  Went to Diner afterwards and had a great breakfast that’ll hold us for a while then gym to burn it off.  
Good thing I’m retired I don’t think I could fit any work time into my schedule anymore.  
Getting ready for next week when one of our daughters and 2 of the Gkids are coming down.  I think our daughters want to check and see if we’re ready for a return to New England, nope not seeing snow ever again.

I’ll say that we are also disappointed that you won’t be joining us.  These get together are a great way to meet fellow forum members.  Wish it was simple for people to just drop everything and do something like this.

GM and happy Thursday.  Typical Thursday: work day started and PGA tour on the TV.   Supposed to be league night but as of last night we only had 3 of the 6 players for the round.   Hoping a couple of more have availability as the league require 5 players to not forfeit.  Rain last night seems to have cleared the smoke a little bit.  While not as bad as the north east, it was definitely noticeable in southern VA.

Good morning all, looks like a another great golf day today, this morning I get to play with my beautiful bride, looking forward to that havent played together for a while. Looks like my Tacomo irons are shipped and in Canada now, shouldn't be long before I get a chance to hit some balls with them... Now that will be a good day...

GM everyone!  Well, yesterday afternoon when my underground sprinklers were running... they quit!  Of course it was after the 5pm business hours but someone answered the emergency number.  Nobody else had called yet.  They sent someone to check; the pump shut down.  They got it up and running I had to run a few stations again.  It's hot here!  I woke up at midnight (thought about logging in and posting here but that's probably not a great idea... half groggy; might have to retract later) .  Checked the temp outside... 81º; can't open the windows yet!  When I got up at 5:15am, the temp was 70º.  It's supposed to cool off with a breeze and some clouds today, so that will be a relief.  

No golf today... more honeydo's!!

Top of the pot spies .  A gorgeous, cool morning here in Surprise, AZ. 0737 tee time at Desert Springs this morning.  Having hosted one of the PXG fitters in the area to a round of golf here on Sunday, my Monday groups round, men's league yesterday, today's round, and another Saturday, I'm really giving the back a workout ... so far, so good .  I set the alarm for 0530 to allow time for all the linkages to spool up.  Going to do a quick core exercise rep before heading out.  Have a great day whatever you have planned (or umplanned).

Irrigation systems are great until their not.  Finally have my system straightened out now have to redo coverage of some zones.

Good Morning Spies! 
Nice Central Florida morning, 78 and sunny for now.  Expecting rain this afternoon, which may wash out golf late today.  But we need the rain.  Good start to morning, 2 miles on Nordic Track and now on 2nd cup of coffee & working! 

Thinking about you all in Upstate NY & Mass and hope you all are doing ok today! My cousin sent pics from downtown Manhattan yesterday and oh my the smoke from the Canadian wild fires, wow, it looked bad!

Good morning Spies,

One cup down and the second one on deck. The smoke from the Canadian fires was intense yesterday. The EPA’s air quality app peaked at 460 yesterday. The scale stops at 500. That range is listed as Hazardous. It’s currently reading 162 which is listed as Unhealthy. Pretty wild to say the least. I’m debating golf today. Hoping for a fuller reprieve from this and wishing those feeling the worst of this fire today the best.

The previous owner is a nice guy, but he was an idiot when he put in the zones and heads.  I'm still wrestling with his idiocy.  

Zone 1 has heads next to the house on the left side AND heads on the upper level of my backyard on the right side.
Zone 2 has heads on the lower level left next to Zone 1 AND lower level right backyard.
Zones 3 and 4 are OK
Zone 5 is in half my front yard.
Zone 6 is the other half of the front yard AND the the side yard on the other side of my 3-car driveway.

To make matters worse, he had different types and brands of sprinkler heads; Rain Bird, Toro, Orbit, and Hunter AND they are at different depths... heads are 2". 3" and 4".  Some are rotating streams, shrub heads, impact; I'm slowly converting them to Rain Bird to minimize spare parts, but I never know what length I need until I dig it up.

Good morning Spies,

It's still smoky today. Still getting air quality alerts on the phone. Spoke to one of my friends today who fights forest fires in our area.  He said he feels like he does after fighting a fire for a few days. Gotta think about all those firefighters out working hard to put them out! I feel bad I was complaining about not being able to golf yesterday now when I think of all of them.  I live in a heavily forested area adjacent to the Alleghany National Forest. Our fighters are all volunteer and jump right in help.  He said some of our local guys are up helping Canada out.

So, today while I'm staying indoors, I'm going say some prayers for all those working to put out these 3.3 hectares of burned and burning forests that they succeed and return home safely.  We need mother nature to pitch in and put some water on the area.

Have a terrific day Spies.  If you get out take a swing or two for me!

Right there with you on the snow!  If it could snow, look pretty and be 70° I'd love it!  I can't seem to get my head around being 12-14 hours away from the gkids and friends to make the move permanently so we'll snowbird for 4 months each winter out of it.

Oh boy, and I thought mine was bad.  We bought our house new so can only blame builder.  Like you zones don’t make sense, zone 1 is 1/2 front lawn and partial back yard, 3 of 5 zones like that.  Only good thing is it’s all Hunter products.  Part of the front is MP’s part sprays that is a disaster.  Slowly getting it fixed.  
I’m from New England only rich folks and golf courses had irrigation systems for the 6 weeks of summer.

First snow great after that not so much.  Our Gkids are all, except 1 are in college and working when their not in school  same with our daughters so when they have time they have a place to go in FL, works so far.

Sometimes you can only laugh about this crazy game and what it does to us. Played in my weekly 9-hole Spark Golf league Wednesday evening and was -1 thru the first 4 holes. Felt like I was in total command of everything. Then proceeded to go +7 over the last 5 holes despite still hitting a lot of quality shots. Ended up with a 42 which is about the norm for me, but couldn't help but think, "what if...?" Oh well, at least I can take away the positives and feeling better than ever about my iron play. Last weekend's session with my instructor really seems to have gotten some things on the right track.

SWMBO has some health issues and the cold of New England weren’t helping so the move south was an easy choice.  We thought Myrtle Beach was going to be the destination but we ended up in FL.

We winter in Pawleys Island SC.  South of the craziness of Myrtle.  Hole 9 on True Blue. I like the laid back environment. Minutes to everything. 9 golf courses within 5 miles!
