Mmmmm, you can really smell the tannins in the multi cores. Is there a position for ball sommelier at the country club? I'm gonna host interviews. What's a good vintage for the Titleist chardonnay?

Having just tested them... Id give the sugar pures' a try.  not super rock hard like a TP5 / ProV but not super super soft like my B RXS either.

Interesting that you find the TP5/ProV harder feeling. I find the ProV to feel pretty soft off the face, whereas the V1x felt like a rock. I'm really intrigued by the sugar balls. May give them a run next year.

Same here for both age & swing speed. I use Vice Pro  but also used Pro Plus. I seem to recall a HQ recommendation a year or 2 ago that recommended both for slower swing speeds - unfortunately I can't find the it now.

@tony@CIC I used a Vice Pro for the very first time yesterday. Found a Vice Pro with speckles, like a confetti colors on the ball and the ball had a good feel.  So I tried it out and like it.
The Vice Pro dimple pattern is exactly like the OnCore Vero X1.
I was impressed with the Vice Pro ball!

I believe these are all WHITE balls and WHITE wine contains very little tannin so I find it highly unlikely you were able to smell any.

Ball sommelier is an exclusive role at only the very best clubs in the world (of which I'm sure you're a member).... it takes decades of experience and there is a very thorough test to even qualify for applying.

I believe the 1997 vintage of Titleist performed very well.

...too bad I cropped it; you'd see that the balls are sold in egg cartons and would have been able to quip about that as well.

more so meant comparatively to my Bridgestone Tour B RXS's which is my usual gamer.

Only thing come to a total conclusion on is I refuse to play anything not a urethane cover though regardless of brand.

Same. I was using a Titleist ProV1X just because a cousin had told me that's what she used, I then found the Vice Pro+ to be comparable. I'm a high handicapper so my sense of feel and ball capabilities are limited compared to others. But I really like vice balls. However, after a lot of suggestions from other beginners I'm enjoying my game with a Chromesoft.

Vice buys expired patents so they only do new stuff when they but a patent.

Not sure that is exactly right. They basically order good balls out of a sears catalog from manufactures that have balls available and they put the Vice logo on them. At least that is how I understand it.

@Shakeyfly I go back & forth between the OnCore VX1 and the Pro V1.  Now that it's warm I like the ProV.  OnCore exceeded my expectations.

Good you found a ball you like, the Chrome Soft! For me the Chrome Soft just feel as good as Pro V1. Might be a mental issue with me though 🤣!

First thing I do every morning it check for this! haha counting down the days. I was hoping it would be out before my next golf trip a week from today but looks like I'll stick to Maxfli Tour X for the trip and look forward to seeing the data when I'm back! This is easily the most exciting golf info for me personally. I get so excited every test! haha

I wonder if they tried testing spin rates with how bad a slice is. is 300 rpm less spin meaningful in slice reduction? I know there are so many variables like ball speed, and axis tilt but in general what's the ball park for slice reduction? 50rpm, 1,000rpm? On average what's the slice reduction 2 yards, 20 yards? It would be good to know to balance the slice off the tee with stopping power on approach.. Just thinking out loud about something I don't know enough about

good question , i am curious myself at what point is it not a slice or hook but a push or pull dud to lower spin.

I am getting antsy waiting for this.  NOT a criticism.  For some reason I love reading the numbers in ball tests.

It's funny, the last two ball tests I actually took the data they had in the article and created my own spreadsheet and ordered it by the columns that matter most to me and then went through and assigned Red/Yellow/Green fill to results that fit what I wanted from a ball. Then I assigned numbers to R/Y/G and added up each ball's score to look at a few balls for me to test on my own. I didn't get to the testing part, but I loved manipulating the spreadsheet and all that. I'm an IT Architect/Engineer, what can I say. I'm a nerd who golfs. 🤣
