SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted March 16, 2010 SPY VIP Share Posted March 16, 2010 Dave, I almost quoted you at the "Flow Neck" comment, but decided to read on and see what transpired. You are in SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much trouble if you are a putter junkie, LOL! Byron's works are awesome and like the general consensus seems to be............you can't stop at one. The Rincon neck is similar to a Santa Fe neck, if I am not mistaken. Byron also has the ability to craft a neck similar to that of the old Del Mar putters. Some guys call the Del Mar neck the flow neck and I just wanted to say that, either way, Byron has that touch. Good luck, LaMont in AZ nvgolfdude is on the boards now too the byron presence grows strong. Matt Saternus
Ok guys, back to talking about MY putter . I got to bring this putter to the course for the first time today and it definitely lived up to the hype and earned its spot as my gamer for 2010. The 330g weight is absolutely perfect - I could be aggressive without fear of blowing it past the hole, but it has enough heft also. I did not miss a single putt inside 10' and left myself very little work after long putts. The greens had a deceptive amount of break in them, and I under-read a few long putts by a couple inches or else I would have some long bombs to talk about as well. All in all, I'm looking forward to having one putter in the bag all year and having it perform this well. Matt Saternus
Comments like that and she may grind the right bumper too. How did the copper wear today? Any patina marks? The copper was great. I did put some fine scratch lines on it from wiping it off, but you have to look to see them and I don't mind them since this is a gamer. No patina yet, though we may see something in the morning. I did spray it with a bit of silicone before heading out - I'm really liking the shiny penny look and I think I'll try to keep it that way for a while. You planning on doing anything to speed the patina on your copper? Follow me on Twitter: @MattSaternus

SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted March 19, 2010 SPY VIP Share Posted March 19, 2010 Probably, but the shiny look looks nice for a while. My glare is less than the polished stainless 007 I had before. Not too bad yesterday and the sun was bright. Volvo Intorqueo All the cool kids follow me on twitter: @GolfspyDave If you are not a cool kid, following me on twitter will make you cool... Matt Saternus
Matt, isn't glare an issue with the copper? I would think you would want it to patina. Some people might say so, but glare has never bothered me on a club. That might be because I golf in sunglasses. It will definitely patina over time, I won't stop that, but I love the shininess right now. Follow me on Twitter: @MattSaternus
Matt Saternus
Just wanted to post a little update. My putter made the trip to Myrtle with my this past week and after 6 rounds I can say that I've never rolled another putter as consistently well as this one. The headweight is absolutely perfect; it allowed me to be aggressive on every putt. I made tons of putts inside 10 feet and even dropped a 20-25 footer to save a par. It did get a little wet a couple of days, so the patina is starting in the cavity. I'm excited to see what it looks like by the end of the season. Matt Saternus
Congrats. Seems like you've made a good find. Thanks. As I described in the first post (I think), it's been a long, but enjoyable process of finding what actually works for me in a putter. Having this just gives me total confidence on the greens. Matt Saternus
Take pictures as it moves through patina stages... I will. Right now it's just a few spots in the cavity where I didn't get the water off between rounds. When the color as a whole changes, I'll get new pics up.
