Callaway pre-owned?

Who owns and/or runs Callaway pre-owned?  I have bought from them and been pleased.  I have used their return policy and it was great.
Additionally, are there comparable companies of which I not aware?  With the recent discussion of driver cost used equipment becomes increasingly appealing.

I believe Callaway runs it. I have purchased from the site in the past and have also been very pleased. Almost grabbed a like new Rogue ST driver back in early January when the price dropped to $325 for the configuration I wanted.

Pretty sure it is owned and run by callaway since you can earn and use their reward points on purchases.   There are many alternatives to purchasing used clubs and without knowing  what you are aware of I can’t tell you what you aren’t aware of 😂

There are quite a few companies that sell used/past year equipment like 2nd swing, global golf, and mikes golf outlet…plus others.  They sell via their websites as well as via eBay;  for example callaway preowned is also on eBay. If you are looking for OEMs that sell used equipment, I know tour edge and sub 70 do.  I recall TM switching from doing it themselves to using a company like global golf to sell their used/past year equipment.  Most brick and mortar stores  like golf galaxy and PGASS sell used equipment.  I have a local store that takes trades so you can get good used and past year equipment from them.

The biggest consideration is club grading.  Callaway probably under-grades their gear; others have reputation  for occasionally over grading.

Another satisfied CPO customer here. Also note they carry some non-Callaway gear (obviously inventory will change).

If you're looking for a particular club then a Google search can show you multiple sellers.

Also, re: eBay I just want to mention be careful and check the seller (like with anything else) as there have been known to be counterfeits.

Callaway Preowned is great. I've only bought two things from them but both have been in good shape. I suspect they keep the good stuff for CPO and pitch the rest to eBay since they don't put pictures on their website. Global Golf used to be my first stop when looking for something used but that has changed to CPO. I don't know what's up with Global Golf but their used selection is way down from what it once was. I like 2nd Swing but you're going to pay a hefty premium for their stuff. I think it would be fun to stop in one of their physical stores sometime. I also buy/sell from eBay and Mercari occasionally. However, eBay's selection and quantity of golf stuff has been way down compared to years past. Perhaps the lack of used equipment is simply due to more golfers buying stuff but I'm not sure. I also suspect shipping costs have put a dent in sellers as well along with overly buyer friendly return policies on eBay. It just seems like there aren't very many individuals selling on the Bay anymore, it's mostly just larger golf shops and resellers.

I think it depends.  I purchased an RSX milled putter that was not offered at retail and was only on ebay.  They had a bunch of the different Toulon and Odyssey models that were ebay only.

My guess is that sales of clubs like putters, especially more expensive ones, sell better on eBay where people can see what they are buying. They might also be able to get better pricing and move stuff faster on eBay. However, I don't know the answer. Perhaps it's more complicated and they try selling in a way that best reinforces their pricing for new clubs sold at retail. They may find it better to have a sales history on eBay so people can see what used Toulons actually sell for to help reinforce retail sales. There is also the administrative side where it may be easier for Callaway to process eBay orders than doing it themselves on their own website. Dealing with payments, returns, and shipping may be way less burdensome through eBay.

I would say my ultimate guess is that CPO does whatever it takes to avoid having stale inventory. I would bet money, actually I know, that clubs have returned to being a quickly depreciating asset unlike the prior two years where everyone's clubs collecting dust in their basement or garage magically went up $100+ in value.

I bought a Odyssey LH O Works putter from them. It was supposed to be used but when I got it you could tell it was brand new still in the original plastic packaging. I assume it was excess inventory since the new models had come out and it's LH which has a smaller market.

BTW I also bought a 'used' LH SIM 2 Max D driver from Global Golf. Same thing it was supposed to be used but in excellent condition. It was brand new and while it was only one generation from the Stealth it was only $330. a bargain for a new driver.  I was also very happy with the experience at Global Golf.

I've purchased several clubs on Callaway Pre Owned for myself and others.  As others have said, I find they typically undergrade (came better than they claimed) and offer reasonably priced options for regripping, adding wraps or lengthening clubs.

Titleist GT2 four wood with a Mitsubishi MMT SpeedMesh 40 gram R2 shaft

My last five purchases are as follows:  I purchased an Optifit driver and fairway wood shafts that were labeled "like new" and both came with the stock labels that you would find on a new retail shaft.  A Mavrik driver that was listed at "very good" but there were no noticeable marks on the top or face.  Could have easily passed as new (in fact, I seem to remember the head was covered in shrink wrapped plastic more like a new club).  I purchased an Epic Flash fairway wood and GBB Epic heavenwood, both were listed as "good"  When they arrived, I'd say the GBB Epic Heavanwood was slightly better than "good" as it didn't show a great deal of wear and tear.  The Epic Flash fairway wood did show a little bit of wear, but it was consistent with the "good" rating.

Huge fan of Callaway Pre-Owned - just purchased an Epic Super Hybrid in "good" condition and it came flawless besides a small cosmetic issue on the shaft.  It obviously limits your options (from a brand perspective), but if you like Callaway products, its a GREAT option.

Count me in as a CPO fan. I have purchased clubs for both myself and my wife. I only buy like new and they have always impressed. The best year was after Covid when all their clubs were usually in shrink wrap and clearly never hit. Filled up my wife's bag. I shopped for 6 months. It's surprising if you want a club but can take time to get it, the daily sales will eventually highlight the club you want. I haven't traded in any clubs. BTW, I shop online to see inventory but if you have a relationship with one of their salesman, they may cut shipping for you. Also, if you like Callaway grips, they have been ultra cheap online.

Driver: Callaway Epic 9 degree, stiff (set at 10 degrees with the movable weight in the center}

FW: Callaway Epic 3,5, heaven wood w/ regular shaft (driver shaft in 3 wood, 3 wood shaft in 5 wood, 5 wood shaft in heaven wood, all three set at neutral plus 1 degree)

Hybrids: Callaway BB19 4,6,7 (4 set at neutral plus 1 degree and 6 and 7 set at neutral minus 1 degree for gapping purposes)

Irons: Callaway Rogue ST Max 8, 9, PW

Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM6 50,54,58

Ball: Titleist Pro V1, 1X, Vice Pro Plus or anything I find that day and try out for the fun of it (I haven't bought balls with my own money in at least 10 years)

I've bought clubs from them (Mav Pro irons in "like new" condition that were still in plastic, a new 7 iron when I hit a rock with mine, and a Mav Pro 4 Hybrid also still in plastic). I also sent them three clubs when I purchased my Mav Pro hybrid, and it took longer than I thought it would have, but they gave me every penny I had been expecting! I have been thrilled. They have always shipped crazy fast, and when they sent the wrong shaft in the 7 iron, I was able to get it fixed the day I received it, and they shipped out a replacement same day. They're really great over there.

I would add to check their ebay. Their eBay profile sometimes has lower prices than their site for some reason.

Great place!  Just received Apex Pro 2021 2Hybrid.  Absolutely "like new" just like it was listed.  One small black mark on face, like the club hit a putting line marked on the ball with a permanent sharpie, and one small scuff barely noticeable on top.  Will definitely be looking there for any future purchase needs.

Another huge CPO fan.  I have bought all my woods from them.  Starting with the original Rogue driver, then Epic Flash SZ, and currently bought my Rogue ST LS with a Tour AD DI shaft.

Also got the Rogue LS 3W with Tour AD IZ shaft, and Rogue LS 5W with a Tensi Blue shaft.

Have also bought a few hybrids, putters, and wedges from them.

I've only ever been happy with the price and condition of anything bought on CPO. I'd say 2/3 of my purchases have been there. I like RockBottomGolf for supplies and apparel. When you catch a 20% off sale there and get free shipping over $150 you can get a great haul for your money.

CPO always puts fresh grips if needed, never having to regrip a club from there is a plus.

Great call on RockBottom - really love this site and offers.

Just bought a "like new" Jaws wedge from CPO and it arrived today.  I am used to the barcode stickers on the bounce which are somewhat annoying to scrub off, but this time it had a sticker covering the whole face.  Any tips on getting all the goo off?  I let it soak in soapy water and tried scrubbing it, but the grooves are still very sticky.
