2023 MGS Forum Member Players Championship - 2 Person Both Ball Tournament

It was implied but not stated in my first post.  I'm interested in tossing in a round and am open for partners, don't have one yet.  If anyone has a second (or third) round to donate to a struggling HIGH handicapper for this one, you may get lucky.  The nice thing about us HIGH handicaps is that a good day can be a GREAT day.

I'm scheduled to play tomorrow and Saturday and I'd be up for it but snow is due to hit the course over the next 2 day. If you can't get anyone else then I can be your 1st reserve

I would partner up if you haven't found one yet. I'm getting out tomorrow for sure and hopefully a 2nd time over the weekend.

Sure.  Not sure of my play schedule just yet.  Was hoping to get out for a regulation round this week but schedule says otherwise.  I'll make one work next week for sure, if not two.  I am playing this weekend, but it's an 18-hole par-3.  Helping my buddy practice up for a two club competition they are having on the 18th.  It does have a slope/rating though...

Sounds good. My likely destination tomorrow is a par 61 executive that I've played near net par in the past. Targeting Sunday or Monday for a full course.

Not sure I can actually use the par 54.  It has some "published" slope/ratings, but USGA doesn't track it.  I'll get out though, too much of addict to not.

What do you think of for a team name?  Playing off of the K9 in your handle I think of 'Who let the dogs out?'.

My only day off is tomorrow, and of course...rain on the forecast.  I may still try to get out, but it'll depend on my mental fortitude Mostly, I just want to hit the new irons I've been testing, lol.

is open between March 9th and March 19th

Hopefully this will allow for all the work schedules and inclement weather that seem to get in the way - and let everyone participate (several times if you want :).

? for those more veteran than I at these things. Pine Brook today had most of the holes playing from the red tees. I played all the white markers, but 3/4 of them were forward some closer to the red than others maybe 1/2 of the par 3s right on the red. 

There's a course/slope listed for Men's Red. Should I use this number to calculate? I think I'm shorting myself because I did play 1/2 the holes further than Red tees.

Also my short game is my weakest part of my arsenal so it's doing me no favors to move closer. Should I use the white tee course/slope, the men's red, or some number between?

@Peaksy68 sounds good to me!  Living in Key West, I doubt I'll have the same issue with snow.  They have never seen it down here!

2MuchPeaksy sounds like a good team name as well.  Looking forward to creating an international team!

12’ is good in a small field. My good approaches were on par 4’s, chip to 1’ on a short par 4 after my long drive, then a 9 iron from 120 yards to 5 feet (of course I missed the putt)

I am scheduled to play 3/19, Pumpkin Ridge Ghost Creek. Long term weather looks like it should be a go. If someone is looking for a partner. I haven't really played a full round Thanksgiving. I have been to the range a few times but most recently dealing with a back issue. I did get to the range the other day and other than being out of golf shape, it went ok. Current handicap is 15.2. I'm hoping to break 100, My course handicap is 18 according to GHIN.

My suggestion rich, would be to use the slope/rating for the markers you mostly used (whether that be red or white).  if it truly was 1/2 - 1/2  then use your discretion.

Thanks, I'll use a different score for the 2 ball tourney. It's only 1 net stroke difference I think.

I'll use a number in between the red and white and adjust the score I posted for the weekly one.

I don't always mark distances from tee at the top, but this was one I did bc pace was slowing and I played solo had plenty of time for scorecard scribbling.

The smaller republic, Key West Conch Republic, of the team Texas2KeyWest completed my round yesterday.  At Key West Golf Club, I shot an 83 (13 over par) with my 14 course handicap which included 4 birdies or better, 8 ft. closest to the pin and a longest drive of 186.  

So, collectively, Texas2KeyWest 2 Ball team line is as follows:  Team Net 2 ball:  +1, Team Gross 2 Ball:  +23, Net Birdies or Better:  10, Closest to the Pin (daviddvm):  3 ft. and Longest Drive (daviddvm):  256 yards.

Two horrible holes, both involved bunker play, took 2 shots to get out of each (#12 & #17) both holes hit bunker on drive but could not get out due to ball under bunker lip. Cost me 4 strokes on the round.
