MaxEntropy
The early coverage on Hulu yesterday had Spieth and whoever he was playing with as a featured group. Both player's drives came to rest in the designated fan crossing area. Announcers didn't go into any detail, but both were granted relief even though they were in the fairway. Can someone please explain? 2 Quote Driver: Epic Speed 9* (set -1) MMT 70X 3W: RAZR Fit TourAD something or other 3H, 4H: Tour B JGR 19*, 23* Recoil 780ES 4-AW: Tour B JGR HF2 Modus3 Tour 105 SW: Zipcore Black Satin 54* LW: Zipcore Black Satin 58* Putter: Stroke Lab Marxman Bag: BigMax Dri Active Lite Ball: TP5x Pix Pushcart: BigMax iQ+

Can someone please explain? There isn’t a specific rule that covers spectator crosswalks. This is done at all professional events and the crosswalk is most likely just considered ground under repair. 3 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/:Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: mFGP2 Backups: TM-180, Milled Collection RSX 2, Bellum Winmore 787, Directed Force 2.1 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017

Could be very wrong on that though. 2 Quote as of Oct 31, 2022 (Past WITB) Driver: TBD: Follow here: Driver Shootout! Wood: King SZ 3 wood 15.5* G410 Crossover - 4 iron or others.... I'm being stupid; you don't have to take relief from GUR; playing from GUR is allowed. An Abnormal Ground Condition is one of 4 specific defined areas: Animal Hole, Temporary Water, Immoveable Obstruction, or Ground Under Repair. The first three are defined based on characteristics, and do not need the Committee to further define them. GUR consists of areas defined by the Committee as GUR, as well as a few other areas that are always GUR. I'm pretty sure those crosswalks are defined by the Committee as GUR. I know this is a little picky, but in many cases an understanding of the Rules requires an understanding of specific terms defined within the Rules. 3 Quote Irons Titleist AP2 714, KBS Tour S, 3 flat Rogue SubZero, GD YS-Six X 52, 56, and 60 wedges B60 G5i putter Right handed Reston, Virginia

Absolutely correct, your Reference Point for Relief is the Nearest Point of Complete Relief. That could be in a bush, on the side of a slope, in a bunch of rocks, or on a nice flat lie in the fairway, For those who want to find the exact reference, look to Clarification 16.1/1, titled Relief from Abnormal Course Condition May Result in Better or Worse Conditions 1 Quote Irons Titleist AP2 714, KBS Tour S, 3 flat Rogue SubZero, GD YS-Six X 52, 56, and 60 wedges B60 G5i putter Right handed Reston, Virginia
