GolfSpy_APH
A little background to begin with. I have never owned a range finder. I have barely used one before in person let alone used one on a course. However after time and time again of being frustrated with Arccos via android I gave it up and went to go down this route. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take part in the Cobalt Range Finder test due to some shipping issues and took the plunge on a cheaper amazon range finder. Why this one? I don't remember exactly, price was right about $75 USD and it looked good, had decent feedback from what I remember, but also said there was Pin seeking tech and slope availability. It also unlike many others was referenced as a golf range finder vs hunting and many others that are there. So after a few days delay it arrived and I got a chance to do a little unboxing and get some initial impressions. I will hopefully take it to the course this week... maybe tomorrow and get a better idea of it. The box was pretty standard, all black with some information on the back. Clean, no sticker or anything holding it together but arrived in good shape minus the left corner. Kinda interesting to see the weights and all the over information on the back. Not sure what the average range finder is, but good info to have I guess! Opening up the box revealed a really nice case. If someone cares to tell me what the silver nob is for on the case that would be great! There is also a wrist strap, loop and clip all on the case. It reminds me a lot of the rapsodo case in size, how it opens and inside where it doesn't fully open due to an elastic connection inside. There was also a nice instruction manual, everything is pretty straight forward. Taking the Range Finder out I was shocked at the weight and size. If feels tiny. I remember others being much much bigger, or maybe it is just a bad memory. However it fits great in hand and being so light weight is a real bonus to me. The optics are clean (more photos in later update) and overall just looks nice. Simple yes, but very nice. There was also a batter provided which I appreciated. On the top there is a power button and mode switcher. That is really it though. T Taking it outside and the function was super easy, the seeking worked and buzzed (not on a flag, but light post) and seeking worked great. Switching between meters and yards was simple and the different modes just worked. First impressions are a big bonus and some big thumbs up. The price was great so I wasn't expecting the world, however the fit form and aesthetic are pleasing. I do wish there was a slope indicator on the side for on and off, but that is only viewed through the optics so I would have to be careful if I play comps with it as I wouldn't want to get caught out using the wrong method! Lots more to come! 5 Quote as of Oct 31, 2022 (Past WITB) Driver: TBD: Follow here: Driver Shootout! Wood: King SZ 3 wood 15.5* G410 Crossover - 4 iron or others.... Jnoble89
I got a cheaper range finder on Amazon this year to use as well. Haven’t gotten to try it yet but looking forward to comparing it to the bushnell one of my buddies has! 2 Quote Unofficial Craftsman Golf Head Cover Review TSi3 9* - Tensei White AV Raw Stiff Flex/HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX 6.0...TBD! GolfSpy_APH
Round 1 in the books! Quick takeaways - I really could get used to this and finding it as a good part of my routine. I didn't find it broke flow or was made a chore. The range find is solid, it feels great and I would say performs well. Not great, more in the okay to good category. The scanning tech is ish good. You either need to shoot the flag itself and be very close or right at the foot of the flag pole. There was one time where it just didn't pick up anything and that was a bit annoying. It also is very easy to get or scan the wrong item, background stuff and more. The good points I found are the optics are super clear and easy to read. The vibrate is nice and gives good feedback. Also the optics are adjustable to make it clear for different vision preferences. I would say this came super helpful on 6 holes and probably saved me a couple shots or at least it gave me added confidence with the club selection. I can see me having a lot of fun with this and am looking forward to tomorrow when I get round 2 to give it a try once again! 4 Quote as of Oct 31, 2022 (Past WITB) Driver: TBD: Follow here: Driver Shootout!
