Well, posting today's round just to prove that contrary to some peoples' opinion, I am human!  Today could not have been worse for me.  This is the worst I've shot in some time.  Nothing went well.  Poor driving, unable to get up and down and too many putts left on the lip.   My most forgettable round in years.

Then when I got home, I found out that Ping had sent my driver to where I had the fitting instead of directly to me.  So now it'll be several more days before I get that G430 Max in my bag.  Couldn't come at a better time!

The score is so bad, the system won't even post it!!!!  Now that's bad.

Not able to crack 80 again. Just been one bad hole here or there that has killed the momentum in rounds.

I know at some point it will click, but it has also been nice to see that the course is playing well and we are finally to our normal tees which ads considerable length and some more difficult decisions which is fun!

I really like this course, nice and open, can hit my driver freely from most white tees.

Leaned on the 4w, 5h and 52° to get it close in 3 and in in 1 most of the way. Take away 4x 3 putts and I hit the ball well enough to break 80 1st time ever.

Some of the pin placements are treacherous on sloped greens, I would spend more time reading them if not a round played 3:45 to 7:15pm

Tried to incorporate some new swing thoughts throughout the round. Was a little rough at first but started to find my groove as the round went on. Good news is that I started getting the ball to go straighter and longer. I still need to spend some time on my short game. Great drives are nothing if I can't put my wedge close or make my birdie putt.

Finally a round showing some progress.  10/13 FIRs, better iron play with reduced mishits.  All mishits came from a lie below feet or downward lie, resulting in slightly thin hits (guessing 1 or 2 grooves low?). 5 up/downs except one was a downward ‘putt’ from off the green that I holed out on a tough par 5 for a net eagle.  Total of 31 putts vs my 34.5 avg.

You never cease to amaze me snicerz.  wow.

It's crazy, I'm trying to add wrist hinge. It's a bit harder to time but I'm getting a lot better contact and speed. I think I was averaging around an extra 10-15 yds on my drives. Big south wind just carried the ball forever. I've always been pretty stiff with my hands and wrists to "keep my hand quite". My last lesson, my instructor had me back on the neck ball thing and focusing on 1/2 swings with wrist hinge. Trying to keep my elbows in but also more in front of my belly. I guess I started tucking my back elbow more behind me in the downswing. All that to say, if I can delay my hands just long enough, I end up with awesome contact and great ball flight.

Played 9 last night. Still adjusting to the new changes but still hitting the ball pretty good. Short game was killing me. I was a mess 100 yds and in.

Years ago I unknowingly was cupping my lead wrist and I read somewhere that was a recipe for disaster.  Ever since I intentionally pronate my lead wrist near the top of my backswing.  It’s just an automatic trait now.  However, it has led to rolling my forearms which is had crept int as a habit, which I am working hard to break.

Ironically, the forearm rolling led to a lot of pure contact with a draw and extra yards, but always a strong pull well to the left of target.   I fought the ‘result’ for years by targeting well to the right of my target, but eliminating the forearm roll gives me a straighter, more predictable result with a slight draw,

What a difference two days make!  My score on Tuesday was so bad, the system here wouldn't even take it!  Today I shot 83.  Overall, I was more proud of my many of my bogeys than I was of my pars.  An example, on the par 4, my drive hit the fairway but I was too far to the right on the dogleg right so I had to layup with an 8 iron in front of the trap guarding the green.  I pulled the 8 iron into the woods.  I found the ball, took the penalty shot and proceeded to hit another 8 iron within 2 feet of the pin.  I sunk the putt for a well-deserved bogey.  There were several times I hit long putts to salvage a bogey after a poor chip shot.

image.png.9bb64e9cb4860caebf87ba251f703f73.png

Below is my shots gained for today's round.  My approaches and short games were decent, but over five strokes gained from putting today was pretty special.  My playing partner said "kinda like that new (LAB Directed Force 2.1) putter right!?"  I sure do!  In total I hit 85 ft. of putts including 13 from within 3 ft.  I'll take that any day!

Then when I got home, I found out that Ping had sent my driver to where I had the fitting instead of directly to me.  So now it'll be several more days before I get that G430 Max in my bag.  Couldn't come at a better time!

The score is so bad, the system won't even post it!!!!  Now that's bad.

May have been a bad round but don't stress. Biggest help to my game this year was to play the distance to the back of the green. If your shirt 83% of the time, hitting to back of green distance will get you on even if you don't hit your yardage. Just a thought. Probably saves me 3 to 4 shots a round and I am rarely long.

Working on a new swing thought to try an improve my iron contact.  First time on the course with it... wasn't all bad... wasn't all good.  I LOVE the crisp contact I am getting and nice clean divots just past the ball... in fact, one shot my ball "just" rolled out of a sanded divot... and my divot was about 4 inches in front of the sanded divot... so my divot started about 2 inches in front of the ball.  That is huge progress for me 🙂

anyway, didn't score great, but hit a lot of greens and had a couple strings of pars .. including 5 in a row to end the round.  I should add, the wind was whipping, so that had an impact too.  All in all, some signs of life from my game 🙂

8/12 fairways, 8 gir, good scrambling round. Lots more detail in the How'd you play thread.

Finding a way to turn birdies into bogeys since 1992.

Great start, parred the 1st 4, unlucky bogey on 5, then wheels fell off with a lost ball on 6 and 10 and lost interest.

Trouble really started in the car park, my 8 year old Powakaddy wouldn't power up so had to use a push trolley. We have a couple of big hills so by the time I reached the top of 14th I was absolutely shattered. Finished bogey, triple, par, birdie, par.

Unfortunately I’ve got a scramble tomorrow on my normal golf day so I won’t be able to partake this week but I love seeing the scores coming in. Good to see my ol 2 Person Both ball tourney partner coming in hot this week! (I see you coming for this badge Rich9k 😉) And an exciting 3 way tie at third!
