Watching the coverage of the LPGA Drive On Championship, while reading through the latest issue of Golf Digest.

I've said it before, I'll say it again... This tour has GREAT players!!

Also, if these distances are good enough for Lydia Ko... 19 Tour Wins including 2 Majors.... they are good enough for me 🙂

She is 25.  19 wins.  Wow.

I'm watching this also. It feels more intuitive and less shocking to the system when they say "she has 138 yards, going with an 8i" or "and her drive carries the bunker about 228yd" rather than watching the men grab a 9i from 205yd away.

Great post, I totally agree, the numbers the LPGA players hit it are much closer to what I hit it, although Lydia hits her irons farther than I do

One thing I just noticed by reading the GD page on Lydia... they list her wedges as pw/50/54/58 for the yardages, but based on the spec comments for her wedges (which I didn't include in the pic above) it has her lofts listed as 46/48/54/59.

Which actually puts her distances even MORE consistent with mine (I play set PW/50/54/58).  Also interesting the 2 degree gap between the pw and the gw... that feels pretty small... but I'm not arguing with her results 😉

Perfect example of just saying you need X degrees between clubs is not always good advice.   Each club in the bag should have a purpose independent of some stated loft value.

Distance over loft number, plus the bounce on the club. They have windows they want to hit

It's possible she had her wedges bent recently or has them bent back and forth based on course. I could imagine someone with access to a Tour truck switching 50 to 52° and 58 to 59° often to get more bounce for certain conditions.
