Another day of good hitting but stupid mistakes costing me. Although the course is still on the short setup, there are a few holes that are really punitive if you make a mistake. Double on 6 and triple on 8 made it no way back.

Anyway a really nice spring day with little wind for an afternoon means I shouldn't complain. We are suppose to be moving to the Summer layout this week with the first competition on Saturday. Reports are that at least 2 of the Summer only holes are still pretty soft so it remains to be seen.

Whoohoo!  I have a score to post.  Or as they say in my neck of the woods:

Woot Woot!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expose_Yourself_to_Art

Not my best round by far but; I was playing hooky, had just come off of 16 hours of bed rest from a fever, and had never played the course before.  It was a nice-ish day out at almost 60° and kinda sunny.  I got a bit red yesterday.  I was also pretty muddy.  Take a nice divot, get splashed in the face.

My putting has continued to improve.  Can't say I've done anything different.  Seemed to be able to see the lines and execute.  Couldn't adjust to green speed, but that's something I need to work on.  Tend to be short than go long.  Too many three putts (4), but good number of 1 putts (7).  Short game was solid, but could always be better.  Too many dropped balls (2).  Duffs were less than usual (7ish?), but had some strange whiffs (5), even at the tee box.  I think that was due to the bed stiffness and overthrowing arms vs. a smooth turn.  Those with lower back injuries might relate.

I think I've got a good chance of getting a good score (you know, for me) at this course.  Come summer this thing is going down.  I think looking at the scorecard I'd say I was not far off from hitting my handicap.  Taking out the whiffs (miss-hits) and duffs would get me there.  Winding up in the wet and brambles is kinda whatever.  Avoid all of that and I'm overachieving.  While I don't like 60's on each side, this is one of the tougher public courses in the city at this time of year. Watch out season 2.

I'm hoping I get a second round in, but it's not looking hopeful.  Busy tomorrow, Thursday has potential.  Friday is lesson day, plus family pizza party while my brother is in town.  Saturday is usually reserved, and my normal Sunday time is occupied by my niece's 6th birthday party.  She lost her first tooth last Sunday.

Let's root for Thursday.

Tried a 3W instead of 5i today….experiment sorta worked but 3W flew much higher than expected. Think I’ll” go back to 5i for now and try the 3W at the range. Otherwise it was a soso round. Weather was cool in 5he mid 60’s to mi$ 70’s.

Not my best outing. #12. . . there's a story here. Started out with a great drive (non-wind assisted), right down the middle of the fairway. Not sure what happened next but I managed to blade my 2nd shot. In the image below, you can see that it went "long". There's more but I'll get to that in a minute. A bad chip from a very downhill lie put in position to 2 putt for a bogey.

Back to my 2nd shot. The marker in the image is just where the ball found it's resting place. Somehow, I managed to send this in to the road behind the green, bounce the ball off of a water spigot in the small garden found in the median, and take a number of hops in the road before making its way back in play. It was definitely a show and will be something I won't forget anytime soon.

Don't think I'll be able to get out this week. The nice days I have plans and the crap days I'm open. I'm about done playing golf in the rain for awhile, I'll wait till next winter. Maybe I'll hit the lotto and won't have to worry about flipping golf in the rain.

Take a break, the good days are coming.  Today's great... now.  I also don't trust the weather forecast, it almost always changes a few days out.  It says thunderstorms on Sunday, but I think it will happen Saturday if it happens at all.

Struggled most of the round. Had a couple 3 hole stretches I hit the ball well, but couldn't get putts to go in. 39 putts on the round includes 2 tap ins following excellent wedge shots. The greens were very fast and the pin placements were treacherous on some holes.

Finding a way to turn birdies into bogeys since 1992. #TeamChunks

I used the free version for a while and it’s great. I upgraded to the paid version for more stats, better aerial views, handicap estimation, and other stuff.

it’s on android too but I’ve recently moved back to iOS. Apple Store link below.

Tuesday's round was pretty poor, so I was hoping for a good round today.  It was so-so!

image.png.e8cba69aa33c89cf810c401ee19e5715.png

It was one of those days that I shot better than I scored.  44 on the front and a strong finish gave me 40 on the back.   Lately, my chipping and putting have let me down a bit.  I have trouble getting my chips close and leaving myself 8-12 footers that I lately have a tendency to lip out.  I had three today that were down in the hole and lipped back out.  My 57% fairways hit was a little misleading because when I did miss the fairway, half the time it was by only a 2-3 foot into the first cut.

Hopefully Saturday I can end the MyGolfSpy Championship Tour on a positive note!

I don’t remember if it’s permissible to post a combined two 9 hole rounds.  If not then delete.  13/14 FIRs, only 6 GIRs, 3 U/D, 2 3-putts and missed a couple 4 footers otherwise could have been decent.

image.png.731bb29ae2cef9624c44a4f39104543b.pngCrashed and burned, 1 over for the front 9, then putting went cold. Putting for birdies on 10 and 14, 3 putted with lip outs on both. The 16th has been a funny hole for me, hole in one at the end of January, since then I have put 3 balls OB in the last 5 rounds.

We are now on the Summer course for my final round tomorrow so these tight, punitive par 3s will be no more.  SO I'll have a new excuse next week.

To add to the praise from the group to @Golfspy_TCB, really enjoy competing in this and has probably kept me completing rounds when I would have NR'd or packed in so that I can record a score. Thanks

Question for those who post here, what do we do in the case of mulligans? Not trying to get anyone to self-incriminate, lol but generally speaking would "one" be keeping these scores strictly tournament setting with imaginary rules official? Breakfast ball off the 1st tee? 1st and 10th?

Dropping a 2nd ball after a skulled wedge shot today was my boner mulligan moment. I scored it as a 9 to err on the side of morality, but should I have given myself the bogey I made with the 2nd approach?
