I own 2 cart bags, a pittsburgh penguins bag, and a hotz 4.5 that I just got. And as far as having a staff bag so you can carry extra shoes and rain gear, if it's raining I'm not playing, they don't pay me enough to play in the rain, oh wait, that's right I have to pay them. I play golf to have fun, and playing in the rain is not fun.

I've thought about it and considered making a purchase for one, but with limited space and use it just has never happened!

I will admit.. I had to "re-organize" my trunk space to make sure it had room for the staffer as I travel back and forth to the course. haha.

I use an electric walk behind golf cart. So a little weight doesn't bother me. The vast number of "cart" bags are designed for riding...not walking carts. Small staff bags work much better.

YOU may not be bothered, but the motor in your electric bag is like.... "Dude... REALLY??? "  haha.  just kidding.  As I said... it is only a pound or two heavier anyway... the problem comes with overfilling the larger pouches.  When I have to look at the year on the cards in my side pouch.,.. it is time to clean it out.  LOL.

I do own a staff bag, but I use a cart bag with individual dividers.

An old, heavy, red, white, and blue Hogan staff bag houses my putter collection.

Someone I know purchased a house that formerly belonged to an embezzler who went to prison.  They gave me a Titleist staff bag with some clubs that was left in the house.  I kept extra clubs in the bag until my wife started throwing out things when we were preparing to move.  The staff bag ended up in the garbage.  At least she knew better to not throw out my carry bag which I actually used.

I have a pristine Titleist staff bag i picked up for $25 last year in the basement. And same goes for WI, the weather changes every 5 minutes in spring and fall. If we are taking a cart, I use it on occasion. If I ever have the chance to use a caddie, I ALWAYS used my stand bag and make damn sure to clear out as much weight as possible. No need for 3 bug sprays, 2 bottles of water and an extra dozen ProVs.

Staff bags hold everything from shoes to extra clothes.  I ad never care it but for a guy that takes a cart 75% of the time it’s awesome.   It also keeps your cars trunk clean

... I have owned 3 from when I was on Staff with Tommy Armour, Wilson and Titleist. I only used them when teaching and never when playing. I gave away my Tommy Armour and Wilson bags but keep the Titleist from the 1990's for holding clubs:

While I’ll admit they are cool, and have been tempted to get one on the bay, my days of schlepping the full leather ones for the egocentric hackers in the ‘70s would relegate it to a displayed putter bag if I got one.

I own several Tour Edge Golf staff bags because the company sent me one (sometimes even two) at no cost every year for 5 or 6 years. As a Certified Tour Edge Fitter/Dealer, this is one of the “perks” that comes with the position. These bags are in my garage, filled with demo clubs, and the personal use clubs that they provide to their dealers every couple of years.

I think which type of bag you have is a matter of choice and should not be criticized.  If you show up at a course that has caddies, with a staff bag, they will automatically take out your clubs and put them in a caddy bag to make their day easier.  That is what they did to my lightweight carry bag when I was at Cabot Cliffs prior to it opening to the public a number of years ago, when I could walk courses.  Due to medical issues, carts only now, which limits me playing some courses.  I have four Titleist golf bags; a retired Midsize that I use to store my extra set of irons, putters, driver/3 wood and wedge, my tournament/events Midsize bag that has my name and TT logo on it, my Cart 14 bag for everyday play, and a lightweight carry bag that I take when I fly that has my name and TT logo, which fits in my SKB hard case travel case and meets all weight and size limitations (for traveling Delta on AEX Golf card, travels as a piece of luggage).

I have a staff bag, Nakashima, personalized! I do NOT give a CRAP what anyone else thinks of me if/when I use it! Couldn’t care less. It’s very rare I use it anymore since I don’t play anything Nakashima, but it’s a one-of-a-kind and it is the EASIEST for pulling clubs by FAR.

When I was in England and Scotland last year, caddies did not remove my clubs nor did they change bags, as I took only my Snell-logo 5 lb. Sun Mountain carry bag with me. At most courses that I played the caddies were fighting with each other (verbally, at least) to be the one to carry my bag.  Since I have carried and walked the course for more than 95% of my rounds until this year (now, I use a battery-powered walking cart), I had one of my lightest-weight bags with me (the other is a Stitch stand bag, but it is stiff and the pockets are near-impossible to access), because I knew that we would have caddies for every round over there.

Yep I have the same attitude. Right now depending on what putter I am using there is not a Titleist club in the bag. LOL even in the mini tour days I had a ball and bag deal only and not one Titleist club in the bag unless I threw a certain Vokey in. Nakashima have not heard in a long time in fact I still have a driver head. I was long with that thing but could not keep it in 3 fairways but I loved the way it felt. And yes a mini staff or staff bag is the easiest for pulling clubs by far

I have a SWAG staff bag (Vessel) that I bought thinking maybe I'd replace my 12yr old C-130 with but then when I got it and really started inspecting it I decided it would be too big to be practical on a cart and too many of the pockets are on the "wrong" side and would be inaccessible.  Then I considered trying to flip it, but was too lazy to ever list it, although I still may but it's so good looking it's hard to part with.  It's currently sitting in the basement holding a bunch of clubs that are either temporarily or permanently out of my bag.
