How Long Do You Keep Golf Gloves?

Recommended Posts

Until it wears out. Usually along the threading around the wrist. I usually get 2 1/2 months but during the summer months only 1 month due sweat from high humidity. I have been using Strike golf gloves because of price and all the gloves seem to not last any longer.

Hit em long

I put a new glove in play when it either becomes too worn in spots or becomes too stretched out. Maybe not your typical glove, but I’ve been a fan of the Under Armour Iso-Chill glove. It’s got a lot of mesh on the back so it ventilates really well and provides good feel and grip. Last year I think I went through 2 or 3 gloves, but I was really only playing 9 holes consistently each week. I have a feeling I’ll be going through more this year since I’ve got a membership to my local club.

So all of my bags i use, including the "sunday bag" for practice, have a designated spot outside of the bag for gloves. NEVER bunch them up and toss it in the bag. That will leave it a crusty ball from hell.

I typically get around 5 to 10 rounds out of one glove. If they are FJ, then 3 to 5. Titleist / TM / Callaway tour gloves 6 to 10. Costco, no joke, their kirkland brand gloves hold up amazing! I recently was on a trip to Scotland and was POURED on when we played 2x. I used the same glove on all of our rounds, including the rained on rounds. Let it dry properly and it's still GTG. If you have a Costco membership, it's a great option for 3x gloves at $25. Can't beat it.

I rotate in the following manner:

- new glove only gets used when actually playing (not even warming up) until I get a hole in it

- when the glove has a hole it moves to being the practice glove.

I don't think I'm cheap, I just play a lot a golf (>100 rounds/year) now a days.

The Bionic gloves claim to last twice as long, but even in the humid conditions of the South, it’s rare if they rip or wear out before I throw one away for just looking so filthy.  These cost a bit more, but they seem to last forever!

Started playing late in life, but as I got older I found that golf is a much better activity than a lot of things old folks get into, plus I meet some of the nicest most interesting people!

Sadly, I’ve lost more gloves falling out of my pocket than I’ve worn out…

The ones I manage to not lose tend to last me a year or so, but then again I never get to play as often as I’d like. I did manage 23 rounds last year and I’m shooting for 40+ this season.

Currently in the bag:

Callaway Epic Flash 9* | Tour Edge Pro 721 3W 13* | Callaway Utility Wood 17* and 21* | Callaway Apex ‘19 forged 5-AW | Taylor Made MG3 54* and 58* | LAB DF2 Broomstick 50” | Transrover bag

I have been able to play with the same glover for somewhere between 10-15 rounds on average. It is not uncomment for a glove to fail earlier. I have found that when you find a good quality glove for the price point you like it is easy to use gloves a little quicker.

My grandfather taught me to play.  As a child of the depression, he used stuff until it was completely worn out.

I do that with most of my golf equipment, especially gloves.  I've largely been using Nike gloves since Tiger arrived on the scene and I use them until I wear a hole in them.  I play about 25 rounds a year and toss in once-a-week range sessions and I can get through an entire season on three gloves.

Fore years I wore Titleist Players glove in an extra large cadet.  Not close to great but best fit I could find.  Palm was never long enough and would wear a hole in 4-5 rounds.

Tried a Mizuno Elite from a small independent retailer and easily the best fitting glove for my hand I have found.

I have a couple of Bridgestone gloves I got in Japan.  I use these on the driving range as they are a bit thicker and wear like lead.

We get some humid conditions in July and August around Toronto.  I always take off my glove between shots and carry it to let any breeze help dry it out.  On the most humid days I may use a second glove somewhere on the back nine.  I never put a wet glove in my bag.  Throw the glove on top of my bag in the car until I get home and then leave it on the counter in the laundry room to dry out.

I'm rotating the same 3 for a little over a year now. I'd guess it's been about 80 rounds. They are still fine. I don't replace them until they rip.

Added: as far as storing, If they are dry I fold them all together and keep them in my valuables pocket in my bag. A wet one that's been in use goes on top of my ball retriever until it dries (now I think about this, I'm going to discontinue this practice. Great way to get strange bacteria from stagnant ponds on the inside of my glove.)

I use Kirkland as I can buy 4 gloves for $30 that perform and feel like most premium gloves.

I play 120+ rounds per year and go through 6-8 gloves in a year.  From October- April I go through 2 as the humidity is low.  I often use my foot joy winter/rain gloves during Dec-Feb.

April- September, When the humidity is up I go through 1 a month.

I also use my worn gloves on the range during the humid months.

I buy six leather gloves a year from MG golf. They are comfortable, fit right, include a custom logo and are a bargain (about $8 each). I spend 3 weeks per month in Florida and one week oer month in NJ except July and August, when the times are reversed. I play about 50 rounds oer year in FL and 25 in NJ, plus about a dozen when traveling (typically UK and Ireland). I use each glove until it gets crinkly or stinky, so basically six gloves last me a year.

As I tend to sweat and perspire, I use at least two gloves a round - sometimes more in the summer.
I try to wash them once during the season to help the stretch out and feel, but they definitely are retired if I put a hole in it

I usually have 2 or 3 and I have Golf Gloves Holder/Dryer/Hanger/Stretcher Plastic Sport Gloves Support Frame that you can buy on Amazon 2 for $9, they help mine last longer. When I was playing 4 or 5 time a week in Turkey, hot and humid my gloves would last a month our a little longer before them got a hole in them. I also have my holder hanging on my bag and so i can swap out glove every 9 holes when it is really humid.

I've used all types of gloves and I prefer to use Calaway apex tour gloves and use them until I have a hole in them or they have just become too beat up. I do switch them out on hot days so they do not get too sweaty. I keep my gloves in a ziplock bag, this too me keeps them fresher and very easy to store in my bag. I do not like the stretchy gloves even in very hot and humid weather, they do not fill tight enough.

If I can get 6-8 rounds out of my glove I am happy.  Currently I have a foot-joy and Callaway rotation, but I am still looking for a good feeling glove that lasts more than a couple of rounds.  I usually leave my gloves attached to the outside of my bag and I switch gloves at the turn.
