Bogeys ov
I am looking for a rain suit that I will be able to use for a very long time and I know that Gore-tex rain suits last upwards of 20yrs. Would love some insight. GolfSpy_APH
Galway Bay had a member test a few years back which the testers raved about. I believe they did really well in 2021 most wanted too. I would have to double check their prices, but the quality is for sure there. sirchunksalot and CFreddie 2 Quote as of June 2nd, 2023 (Past WITB) Driver: TBD: Follow here: Driver Shootout! Kenms3762
Check out Proquip for rain gear. I believe they are based in the UK so they should know something about rain. They will custom tailor your suit, waist and inseam sizes. Zippered front pockets, 2 velco rear pockets, zippered legs, and belt loops along with a stretchy waist band and a sticky band to keep your shirt tucked in. Very reasonably priced compared to footjoy, etc. I only bought the pants as i had a good rain jacket. Bogeys ov 1 Quote What's in the bag. WaffleHouseTour
I second looking at ProQuip. It’s not GoreTex but works great and is breathable. I have two rain suits. Bought a GoreTex suit by SunIce when at StAndrews years ago. Love it. Stay dry from the outside. But not terribly breathable and I start getting wet from the inside when it’s hot and or humid. Bought a ProQuip rain suit when at the RyderCup in France - also stay dry; very breathable. But I think the pants rise is a little high. my ultimate rain suite and what I wore all day Saturday in Augusta this past week - the ProQuip top, and SunIce GoreTex bottom. Stayed dry and comfortable. Had multiple layers on underneath for warmth but did not get “stuffy”. I like the SunIce bottoms as they unzip higher, but can also snap closer for a more tapered fit. More room in the crotch area. I think ProQuip is fine if not having to pull over and wear over another pair of pants - but I often do. WaffleHouseTour
One other thing to remember if you spend the money on a good rain suit - you need to pay attention to the laundering and drying instructions... they can be very different. GoreTex likes the heat - throw it in the dryer. ProQuip does not - hang it. Looks for special detergents or chemical free detergents - contact the company that you buy it from. The last thing you want to do is launder it wrong and destroy the water proofing... I have one bottle of detergent for each - and because they only get washed once or twice a season I'm still on my first bottle. CFreddie
I'll throw in a vote for Zero Restriction - they are $$$ but the quality is there and you won't be disappointed with the product. Both my jacket and pant held up very well in Bandon. higherplane
I would suggest Outdoor Research, more of a hiking and skiing brand but great. Also in Waffle House comment above be very careful washing, You need to use special detergent with any rain system or you will damage the waterproof layer. from then on you will need to spray Scotchguard.
