Also,  since OnCore got wind of our collective HDCPs and they wanted the test to last longer than 4.5 holes of golf, they upped it to 3dz balls! Thanks OnCore.

While I appreciate the photos they've started doing, it almost makes it worse. It's one thing knowing you have something waiting on you, but seeing it there? Definitely makes the itch stronger, haha. Curious to see the results on this test!

Got to get some base LM numbers with this today,  compared to my current Srixon Z-Star ◇... i was impressed.  The LM has some real limitations,  it doesn't know or care about differences in dimple design, and parameter weighting is also something it can't show.  So,  I'm be excited to get these out on the course tomorrow and see how they do on grass.

First round in the books with these.  And they are definitely a golf ball.  A little lower on trajectory then I'm used to,  but plenty of pop coming off the driver.  It was the first round of the year I've played in temperatures above 55, and it was a nice 72. So hard to give a direct distance comparison as less layers and warmer temperature help for sure.  But i was able to reach a 510 par 5 in two.

20230429_110929.jpg.064ac3bb45a421c1de1433bebc429432.jpg

Irons and Wedges were what i would expect. My only complaint through rd1 is the alignment stripe.  The gold"x" in the middle of it is really hard to see in sunlight and really just isn't there.  Which then breaks up the line.  For me,  this is a miss.

So, uh... my first round went well, to say the least.

5 birdies, 2 bogeys off the Blues. Ball is really, really consistent. LOVE the flatter flight off driver, this is exactly what I was hoping to see. Also, the durability is incredible. Same ball for the whole round and it looks like it's fresh out of the sleeve. Definitely less spin than Chromesoft XLS. Approaches were hop-and-stop and not ripping back, so this is looking really good for me. My only complaint from today is it had a very harsh feel on scoring irons. It was fine off the tee and with longer clubs, but 8i and 9i felt like I had thinned it even though it was definitely a center strike with the expected flight and distance.

Yeah, yeah, boo hoo, the ball was a little firm. Cry me a river shooting 3-under

Definitely less spin than Chromesoft XLS.

Gem of a round there!  Feel wise,  id say this feels exactly like a CSX LS. But with less driver spin.

Does that sound(feel) about right to you?

They are very, very similar. I think the X2 doesn't compress as well on short irons, though. I get a much more solid feel from XLS at the low end of the bag, at least through one round of testing. I'm hoping it'll dry out and I'll be able to get a good side-by-side comparison with XLS and Left Dash.

I don't a left dash to check, but from my LM testing the XLS and the VX2 have the same ball speeds Which isn't surprising with their compression being about the same. VX2 is lower launching and lower spinning for sure(with a driver).

Like the first impressions so far. I am trying to decide on a ball after my srixons all get lost and this is on my radar. Like the low penetrating flight of driver. Sucks about scoring clubs. I love feel off a wedge so this might not fly. Likely between these and one of the snell balls.

I didn't feel the same harshness on the scoring clubs in rd1 like @GregGarner. I doubt I was hitting them as pure as the guy who shot 3 under.... so his feel might be better 😃 but I didn't feel anything that made me think of them as harsh.

First round in the books with the X2! I’ve played 22 holes. 4 holes on Thursday night and 18 today. Spent some time chipping and putting with the balls and general inspection of a couple sleeves.

I think the ball is good. Feel is great, a little softer cover. Launch and peak height seems to be higher than a ProV. The ball plays like a premium ball. Good short game spin and feels good. I really liked the ball on the greens. I tried to flight one down on a par three into the wind which is all carry and the wind ate it more than a lower flight ProV that I am used to. Curious if I would have just hit that shot full of the ball would have bore through the wind.

I didn't feel the same harshness on the scoring clubs in rd1 like @GregGarner. I doubt I was hitting them as pure as the guy who shot 3 under.... so his feel might be better 😃 but I didn't feel anything that made me think of them as harsh.

I'll add two caveats (and why more testing is needed!)
1) It's entirely possible that I wasn't hitting them flush. I had three shots with my 3w, for example, that were downright skanky. So I know my ballstriking wasn't perfect...
2) I play blades 8i-PW. See point #1.

So, uh... my first round went well, to say the least.

I got to play yesterday (in the rain) and today (in blustery wind) and played the same ball both rounds. The ball is just starting to show some wear finally. Could be one of the most durable balls I've ever tried!

I noticed the trajectory is a little lower on the driver and feel is firm but not harsh. I did notice it didn't seem to have as much short game spin as maybe I'm used to but I'm hoping to have a "regular" round at some point soon to really see if that's true or not.

My bag is a revolving door!

As I eagerly arrived home from a long day of work, I was met with a package that contained a set of 3 one-dozen boxes of OnCore Vero X2 golf balls.

First impressions are up!

I am already a couple rounds into my testing and have made some observations that I am excited to share with the community. I have also read over tons of responses from a thread I created a couple weeks ago regarding the longevity of most peoples golf balls, but I would love to hear suggestions for ways the communitsy would like for me to test these as well ontop of playing round, practicing at chipping greens, simulator work, etc.

I think the cover on the X2 rolls really well with the Odyssey white hot insert. Ball rolls great on the course too.

2 round in now,  played with @Ruger this weekend.  The ball continues to preform as expected.  @Ruger put it into play for the 2nd round and he immediately picked up 20+ yards on his driver.  He was switching from the Kirkland v2, which is high launch high spin.  This was a much better for for him.

He noticed that his Wedges were lower spin around the green,  but very playable. He also noticed that his  Wedges were chewing up the covers some.

These sound like winners but with Srixon balls still cheaper and last years version even more so it will be a hard pass unless they start doing discounts like other DTCs.

Thanks @Thin2win for the round and letting me play this ball, will say I have never really thought to much about the ball until now.  This ball was great off the tee, was long and straighter which of course is wonderful.  I didn't feel like I lost anything on the approach shots as the ball still stuck pretty well, not quite as much as the Kirkland but note big enough difference to worry about.  With my wedges chewing them up some, that wasn't  any different then any other comparable ball so again nothing for me to take into consideration.  That said, will be taking some of the Kirklands back and order some of these.

So bummer the thing to keep in mind on the price is when you go order its another $8.95 for flat shipping...

I noticed the ball did take more of a beating on the cover than some other balls with full wedge shots. The X2 did grab nicely with pitch shots. Like it grabbed more than a ProV. Most testing results to come! Had the balls on the GC Quad!

9 holes tonight in men's league. Can't fault the ball for my very poor short game play today... turns out you have to hit the little ball before the big ball. But driving today so, so good. My playing partners made some comments about how "crunchy" (in a good way) the ball sounds off driver. I was hitting these beautiful butter cuts today with an excellent flat trajectory.

I really didn't hit my irons well at all today, so not ideal for trying to compare against my previous statement that it had a harsh feel on short irons. I only hit one good wedge shot and, unfortunately, it was a ridiculous flier. Solid 25 extra yards... 😕

Shot of the night was a 7i on the 168-yard par 3 17th that lipped out. I'm pretty sure it's federal law that if you make an ace during MGS ball testing, you have to play that ball. So I suppose it's good that I had a kick-in birdie instead so I can remain fair and unbiased!
