Nice drive!  I'm curious, what are you using for tracking and mapping your rounds?  I like it and want to look into it.

Thanks! This is the GolfPad GPS app. I use the paid version because I'm crazy and wanted the little extra you get from it but the free version is pretty awesome on it's own. If you have a smartwatch (apple/android) there are companion apps that basically turn you watch into a golfwatch. Don't get me wrong, it's not a perfect app but definitely my favorite.

Today my mid irons, sand shot performance and putter let me down.  I thought I played better than I scored.   It rained for the first time in a long time yesterday and the sand trap conditions were all over the place.  Some still had standing water, others fluffy while many were hard packed mud.  Two holes back-to-back I hit consecutive sand shots.  My five up and downs were about right (as I was short on too many approach shots).  My putts look good at 27, but my only green in regulation, I three putted!  Other misses were somewhat uncharacteristic.

image.png.3b23d34ba261a67d79f7d6ee3ba368e2.png

I hope my putting gets better before Saturday's two man tournament here.  I look forward to it every year.   First nine holes is full handicap best ball.  The second nine is alternating shots (which most golfers do not usually play).  It's amazing how many teams fall off the pace the second nine.  It's tough to keep a cadence hitting every other shot.

This will be my only round this week.  Tuesday's round was pretty poor.

Just to dispel rumors that my golf game (and possibly me) is not human, here's the score from Tuesday.  It was incredibly ugly!

Only two up and downs, 30 putts and I hit just over half of the fairways.  Throw in only one green in regulation and the story is not a good one!  Let's hope I got all my bad shots out of my system!

Actually Week 1 is still open for posting (not locked yet) so if you have a round to post during that week, it should let you do it in that thread (rather than trying to back date in this week's thread).  I'll move it over for you... but just for future reference to the group.  That said... I calculate the weekly winners on Monday night Tuesday morning, so anything after that won't be considered for the badge awards 😉

I would have posted in week 1, but the post score button was missing.  The reply to thread was there, but that doesn't update the leaderboard.

Hmmm.  Interesting.  I'll watch for that in the future.  Got your score moved over now, so all is good.

A tale of 2 9s.  44-40.  Greens were aerated on Tuesday and sanded.  This was a core aeration so a LOT of sand on the greens.  I had 28 putts so I guess bumpy, sandy STIMP of 5 is more to my liking than smooth and 11.5 as they will be in a week.

I was unable to hit a solid iron until the 5th hole and as a result, dumped one in the water on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th holes to go 7 over after 4 and another double on 7 to go 9 over at that point.   Played the remaining 11 holes 4 over with another double thrown in.  Hopefully I will get my head on straight next round.

Shark River GC today twilight, 86° throughout with 10-15mph wind. Got there and realized greens were aerated the day before. Immediately lowered my scoring expectations.

Kept anything higher than 6 from the card. Only 1 3 putt from 40' or so. No putts fell, didn't expect any. 89 is my best score here I can remember.

Didn't lose a ball all day. I had a rough start, double, double, bogey when I got par on #4.  Felt like I turned a corner.

Unfortunately I was trying to help my playing partner find his drive on #5 after I hit it right where I wanted and put my clubs next to my ball. Turns out it kicked 80 yards further off a tree. We found it after he dropped. Doing laps around the trees that run between #5 and #13 I had my back to the #13 tee and a guy hit a line drive into the back of my head almost immediately preceded by a meek "fore" I don't think he meant for me to hear.

Bounced up off my dome and backwards, cost him 40 yards off his drive and in the rough. I don't think I have a concussion. The guy was not swinging hard luckily, part of the early out by noon, get to happy hour before his wife begins needling him via text message, elder crowd that rides carts and throws garbage out of it. He knows enough to yell "coming up" after I'd guess 50 years sucking at golf. Hitting someone wearing a white shirt takes a special combination of stupid and a-hole imo. Didn't want to have to murder him so I said nothing, but had a few wonky shots the following few holes before par on #9 and basic boring bogey golf with 2 putts to finish the rest.

Finding a way to turn birdies into bogeys since 1992. #TeamChunks

I don't have a round to post today but I did get out for 9 holes and things were feeling better. Still missed some putts that I have no excuse missing but at least I was able to control the ball and get my distances. Hoping to get another 9 in plus a few full rounds this weekend.

Sheesh Rich, you sure you are ok?  40 yard bounce off your head... that wasn't a glancing blow.  Seriously, take care of yourself and watch for signs of a concussion.

@Golfspy_TCB didn't mean to give that impression haha, didn't bounce 40 yards back, it would have gone 40 yards further if my head didn't stop it I mean.

Yikes!  Hope all is well, Rich

This last winter, we were playing and somehow we ended up in front of the tee box perhaps 20’ and 30’ out of the line of the drive. (We thought.) Three of us were standing in a line watching our longest hitter tee off. I was in the middle. He pulled it so badly it passed in front of the guy to my right, behind the guy to my left and hit the tip of the collar of my jacket and traveled about 200 more yards before it disappeared into the hazard that isn’t even in play on that hole. We all felt the air, or we think we did because it was over so quickly.

@RoverRick I imagine the type of guy who'd do it is the one who spent 3 minutes complaining I was there instead of notifying me he was teeing off. Probably made some good cracks at my expense. But really he's the one who held up his group by not having etiquette. I'm sure he got bogey+ there and probably blamed me. I was the quickest in my group and helping another. His "drive" only traveled 110 yards into a wide fairway he put right at the trees where I was on the treeline rough. I doubt it ever got higher than 30' in the air when at peak speed. When it reached me it was dying.

I've taken a line drive from a guy in high school who went on to play NCAA baseball as a RF/1B while pitching BP, back in the days of no helmet tiny net to hide behind. I know the ears ringing and seeing spots I'd have if he zinged me good. I'll maybe have a lump or two with my coffee tomorrow when I wake up.

Huge struggle bus this week.  Only hit 3 fairways off the tee (two way missed reared its ugly head) and three-putted 3 greens.  Putting doesn't worry much since the greens are still coming out of winter, but the two-way misses off the tee were a bit concerning.

Thanks, could have been better as we always say, just a couple loose drives cost me, and that one 3 putt that was a wicked flier lie that I thought I accounted for but still was 70 feet away. Cleaning up those 3 strokes is where I would hope to be for mid year. That and better wedge play as I was starting with my new wedges so partial shorts were a fun guessing game.

It was a teacher work day (no students) so I went in early and got all my work done by lunch so I could hit the links for what turned out to be a perfect afternoon for golf. First 4 holes were a bit rough with two bogeys and a double before getting dialed in and finishing +4. Starting to get really comfortable with my irons and hit a lot more greens today. Will play again on Monday on a tougher course so we’ll see whether I can keep the mojo rolling.

I knew I was going to play well today. I worked hard on the driver swing yesterday and did hit 10/14 fairways. I even hit a 277 and 278 yard drives. Putter has been awesome. I even decided to play the further tees where I am a 10 handicap.

I missed the first fairway, but hit the green and sank a 30’ putt for birdie/eagle. Next hole, fairway and green and I made another long putt for birdie/eagle. Next hole, fairway green missed a 6’ birdie putt but made par. I hit the next green and made that birdie. I was right, I was playing awesome today.

And then hit a 278 yard drive, and I stopped playing awesomely, a chili dip lead to bogey. Next hole 277 yard drive that a survey crew couldn’t have put closer to the middle. Pulled the approach shot and chili dipped again. Double Bogey.

You get the idea. I was -3 gross score 5 under net score, and was a lip out from -6 through 4. HOWEVER, from the next 14 holes were 3 par net birdies and 1 par. The rest were 3 bogeys and 6 double bogeys. Once again it was the easier holes that were my downfall.

Tomorrow is another day.

I was right. I did play extremely well today. Just for four hole.

This was 9 holes on Friday that goes with the 9 holes on Wednesday 4/12.

Combined score was 101 with par 72 and 25 handicap shot a +4 with longest drive of 174.

EP, The best way to post two 9 hole scores would be to combine them external to the "post score" form and enter one 18 hole score into the "post score" form.  Because you posted a 9 hole Gross score, but an 18 hole course handicap, it calculated your net score incorrectly, essentially giving you 50 strokes across the 18 holes played.  Also you have two entries on the leaderboard for each 9 hole score, but the leaderboard is designed for 18 hole scores.

If you would like, I can edit your post to combine the two, or you can.  Just let me know if you have questions or if I can help 🙂
