I understand your plight Gavinski.  I would be more willing to accept 9 hole rounds that stretch across two weeks... that way it is actually 18 holes of golf being played and scored to the leaderboard.  That may work better for you and your available golf time.  I initially said that 9 hole scores needed to be played in the same week... but if that is excluding you and others from participating in the completion, I'm open to revising that comment

Your Comment also gives me an idea about doing some sort of 9 hole league that runs separately than the Weekly VCT.  Sometimes a 9 after a long day of work is all many of us have time for, so that might be a fun alternative.

I'd favor accumulating 9's over two weeks, as you'd typically play each half on different days so conditions and performance will be different anyhow.

I believe the WHS is going to change the handicapping rules in 2024 to be able to submit a single 9-hole round.  The nerds have to work out now to factor a 9 hole score into an 18 hole score.

@Bohnson I believe we have corrected the "course handicap" field to now accept negative numbers to represent your plus handicap (and anyone else that carries a "plus").  I'm not sure if your round this week was at a course that you have a plus course 'cap... but if so.. can you edit your round and see if it calculates your net correctly?

Thanks for your patience and for posting your scores in the VCT!

I blame the one who hit it there first. This happens a lot to me, never this proximity, but 2 or all of the group will hit the same miss after watching the previous ones do it, almost like the ball is pulled by destiny.

Thanks. I haven’t found another 5 wood that will perform as well as the SLDR. So it’s staying.

I did pull my SLDR 3 wood out of the bag this season. The Titleist TSI 1  3 wood was more reliable.

The best part of that pic is you can see the top ball knocked the bottom ball out of the little crater it was in.  That is awesome!!  Now the questions.... who was away?  haha.  And did you both get up and down?

This is how I feel with my XR 4w. It's 8 years old, was 6 years old when I got it for $60. Oldest club that cost me the least that I trust the most.

Pretty much got it figured out. Playing two days in a row helped. Starting to hit greens again instead of being short. My driver has just been great. Splitting all the fairways.

Holy Moly, there's a lot of scores posted here this week.  Unfortunately I won't be able to post one myself this week, too much going on and had to let the wife out.

The best part of that pic is you can see the top ball knocked the bottom ball out of the little crater it was in.  That is awesome!!  Now the questions.... who was away?  haha.  And did you both get up and down?

I was closest, so hit second.  Some foot wedges were utilized to enable play to continue.   Sadly neither of us got up and down.  We are both from Indiana playing in Florida, and are not used to real beach sand bunkers, esp this time of year.

BTW playing new irons on unfamiliar Bermuda grass is trying to say the least.  Lol.

Working at getting better ... and very slowly getting there.

Another very windy day. 10/14 Fairways 8 GIR 27 putts. But 6 of those putts were 30-50’. The highlights of the day were hole 11, a par 5, hit my tee shot in the water and chipped in for par. Hole 15, I hit a hybrid 194 into a cross wind to 12’ and made a birdie. Hole 18, tee shot went into another lake, but it was about 2’ out sitting up on a clump of weeds. I pitched out to the fairway to 71 yards, then wedged it to 18” for a tap in par.

Other than that, I made a lot of good swings and a few bad swings. I could have played better, but I could have done worse. I doubled 2 par 5’s after hitting good tee shots. And once again, screwed up the easy holes and played well on the hard holes. My short game is my weakest part now.

Almost a mirror image of yesterday's round with a 41/38 for 79.  Still had a double but no birdies although I did have my chances.  Putts were better and a sandy par on the par 3 #15... our 4th hardest hole.  Shouldn't have been in the bunker, but wind picked up when we made the turn.  There must have been a gust of wind... surely I didn't pick the wrong club! 😆

Sounds good - I’d be down to combine 9-hole scores from different weeks if that’s allowable. Probably makes sense to gross half the total points (only entering a score every other week) for playing half as many holes so I think that’s a good alternative.

Working on a few things in my swing. Spent some time on the range before playing 18 today.  Not the best ball striking day. But did have back to back birdies as a result of a couple good approach shots.

It was one of the less common than I would like kind of days, you know Driver flies straight, or straight enough, wedge play goes off without a duff and 0 3 putts.  The course is starting to get dry, so no lost balls in the fairway from plugging and actually got some roll out.  Looking forward to drier conditions and more practice.... Gaming for 3-4 rounds a week and 1-2 days practice.

Played today at Neshanic Valley Academy par 32 from blue tees, yesterday WF Larkin GC at Colonial Terrace par 35. Happy with my play. A double bogey each day I wish didn't happen. Putting needs to be better if I'm going to score at my potential and lower my handicap.

Finding a way to turn birdies into bogeys since 1992. #TeamChunks
