It was a tough day... my driver was good but my irons were all over the place.  I struggles with a lazy swing all day, hanging back on the downswing which resulted in inconsistent contact with several fat short irons and a case of the blocks on other shots.  I would like to say I was able to save the round on the green. But unfortunately, my speed control was off as well.  The beauty of gold... is there is always another round to try it all.over again.

Much better day today ball striking wise.  I was able to get on the course right after a shotgun tourney finished up, so I had the whole course to myself... and blazed around 18 in 2.5 hours.  Fun!!!

Getting closer. 39- 43 for 82.  More consistent off the tee with 9 of 14 fairways hit and two big ones over 300.  I left shots out there due to a couple of hosel rockets.  But played well otherwise with 2 natural birdies on par fives just missed going 3 under for them when I lipped out an eagle chip on the 17th.  Played the par 5s 2 under and was even on the par 3s until I tripled 16.  
 

Had 34 putts today which is 5 more than I had on Thursday as some just skimmed by the hole and those same putts fell in last round.  Just need to stop making big numbers on 2-3 holes per round and life will get better.  Game is getting closer after a very rough couple of months.

Started on Hole #5; we had an 8am shotgun because there was a tournament going off at 1pm.  The two groups in front of us were very slow an d we waited on every shot on every hole.  

My swing has left me!  Arrgh!  I had no idea where my driver was going.  One really good drive; the others were not.  Might have just been the waiting; will try again tomorrow.

The good news is that while it was chilly when we started, I shed layers about 9 holes in and finished with a golf shirt.  Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer, and it's shorts/shirt with pullover that will come off at some point.  Nicer weather is coming!!

Solid day with the driver maybe a 20 yard gain on average. I think I may have found something on the range. (Well, initially on the internet) The  rons were decent. Wedges and putter were mediocre, for me. Got in trouble a few times and didn’t recover well leading to some unfortunate double bogeys.

It looks like I need a very good day tomorrow to move up the board. However, it also looks like there may be no golf tomorrow because of the weather.

1 round NCGA Matchplay played Monterey Pines which is finally drying out from all of the NorCal rains.  A less than auspicious start.  1st tee jitters and I block a great drive (it was great, until it continued to drift right and couldn’t be found).  Hit my provisional straight but down the right.  I don’t settle down until after I card an 8 OUCH!!!  2nd hole I straighten out my drive and hit my sand wedge to 12’ and make the put.  Match is back to square move on to the 3rd hole.  Shortish par 3 150 yards pin is near the front playing about 143……..pitching wedge to 4’ one hop and bottom of the cup ACE!!!! 
 

Overall the rest of the day was fairly stable, scorecard was funny…Finished the day with a triple bogey, 2 double bogeys, 3 bogeys, 8 pars, 3 birdies and an eagle (ace).

Out with my dad today. We played match play, and I kept stroke play score for myself on Arccos, so I probably could’ve shaved a few strokes if I was focused on that. His shot of the day was this recovery - a tight window, but he managed to thread the needle with his 3 hybrid and put it up by the green.

This was a "What might've been" round and then some. 9/14 FW, 7/18 gir. 32 putts. Normally I'd be close to breaking 80 with those numbers, but I carded 43-41 for 84.

Was +5, +2 net through 8 holes when we hit a back up in the pace. Sat about 10 minutes before it was clear and my focus must have been lost because I "laid up" off the tee on 9 instead of hitting my driver over water and put my 5i too far left behind trees. Hit a tree with my approach and was in jail. Double bogey there.

Then pulled my drive OB left on #10. Hit a 2nd drive in FW and a good approach pin high, chipped to gimme range for double. After a birdie on #11 I hit driver left again on 12. Found it but had to lay up, unfortunately to an area still behind trees. I tried to hit a PW through the trees and it kicked into water. Drop 4, hitting 5..ugh. Just missed a putt for 7, put the snowman down on the card.

Played the final 6 holes on fire, bogey bogey par birdie par par. That 6 hole stretch was -1 net. 

Note on the long drive. Par 4 playing 344y, dogleg left. These holes usually hurt with my fade. I hit a high fade that somehow cut the corner, avoided all the trees and bounced off the cartpath apparently.

I had wrote it off as lost, dropped and hit what I thought was my 3rd shot over the back. I went around to the back of the green and left a chip short. Walking up to a long bogey putt, my playing partner says "Who hit this one" about a 5th ball on the green. It was the TP5 pix I had hit off the tee! I 2 putted for birdie!

Played this 9 hole course from white then blue tees. Shot 44 on both, bogey golf with 3x double and a triple bogey so I had some good moments mixed in there, but rough day controlling the ball.

Drove an hour north for 9 holes. Played really well for 7, +1 net, then finished double-double. Out at 12:15, done by 2pm. Galloping Hills is a terrific facility in Kenilworth. I want to go back and play the full course.

Found a 3:30 tee time to play Plainfield West 9, another par 33 9 hole about 25 minutes from there. Not in as good condition here, but it was a fun and challenging little setup. A couple drivable Par 4. I came close on 1. Started double double so counting the previous course that's a tough 4 hole stretch with a short drive in between.

Took a max 9 on par 4 #6. Rather than crush me, this lit a fire and I finished par-birdie-par. Chipped in from off the green on #8. Played 3 holes at +9 and the other 6 at +1.

Poor end to the front 9 and start to the back 9 spoiled the card a tad…then again, duffing 4 chips did that too. Not a bad round overall, some solid Pars, but still work to do!

The Golden Bear at Indigo Run on Hilton Head was the fourth course that I played this week on Hilton Head Island. This course was in good shape and the greens were very good. It was changeling but fair if you hit a good shot. If you were a little off the tee then you had to deal with woods but were able to find your ball. I would recommend this course if you are planning a golfing trip to Hilton Head Island.

Wet and soggy two nines. 6 penalties total. Irons just not very crisp and bumpy greens lead to unfortunate putting. Bright side is my 4w and 7w are working well so my long game is in decent shape. Keep grinding.
