First off I'm so excited for this to get in full swing. I really like what I see from the Cobra line across the board.

Ideas for penalties:

Go full MGS logo/equipment-ho brand label regalia with as many logos as possible walking billboard, headcovers on full round and post copious pictures.

Play a round by intuition no gps, rangefinder, watches etc and try to avoid noticing markers. No walking it off, even putts. 

Play a round without your 2 favorite clubs, whatever those 2 honestly are.

I also like the idea others said of Using Driver/FW on par 3s and iron/wedge from tee on par 5/4 respectively.

Rough is lava. Each ball you hit that ends up in the rough adds a stroke to your score. Sand, fairway, pine straw, mulch, anything else is just normal golf. 

You can only use 3 clubs on a hole.

Play a round with the even numbered irons and only (1) wedge, and then another round with the odd numbered irons and (1) wedge and post scores.

Could also play round(s) with either driver or fairway wood and a hybrid at the top of the bag along with the irons mentioned previously and post rounds.

Play a round with either driver, fairway wood, 7 iron and putter and post scores.

2. Putt with the leading edge of a wedge rather than a putter for 18 holes,
3. Putt with your eyes closed for 18 holes (no cheating!),
4. Tee off with an iron on all par 4 and par 5 holes, but you must use a driver or fairway wood off the tee on every par 3 hole.

The 2nd part of no.4 is the norm for me. So no problem there.

... I realize I am a competitor and my 2 cents is worth 1 cent but just a thought. 


I don't like using driver or even fairway woods on par 3's because it is almost impossible on some par 3 hole designs. One par 3 is a 120yd shot to a crowned green surrounded by an almost sandless bunker. It would be impossible to land on the green and not have the ball roll off. An island green would be darn near impossible. I trust the Mods to be creative but not ridiculous. 

So many other great suggestions though and I look forward to playing well for the Mod smart enough draft me and taking part in some of the very silly but very fun sounding challenges.

As a quick update, CLUBS HAVE SHIPPED!  They are set to arrive Tuesday, which will give me an evening at the range before I head out on a work trip.

Operator hubris. The Titanic had been warned of the presence of icebergs by several ships, but did not slow down.The concept of risk homeostasis suggests that people adapt and change behaviour in reaction to changes in the level of risk to which they are exposed, so as to maintain a roughly constant exposure to perceived risk. This is very exciting to hear! I can wait to hear what the winner gets too! But losers man that could be anything! 
 

Go to good will and play a round with goodwill clubs only and post it!

Play in two different shoes!

Play par fives with reverse bag! So from the tee putter then wedges all the way to driver on green!

These were suggestions for a penalty for the mod who drafts the last place competitor, not the weekly contests for  those in the competition, by my understanding. 

Considering it's a light-hearted penalty I think having to try to hit a 5w onto an island green is hilarious.

As mentioned in the "How'd You Play" thread, I got out today for 9 holes at Flagstone and played the back nine. I shot 53, hitting one fairway and zero greens. I also had 18 putts which was pretty impressive considering I had some long ones.

I went to the course and was initially going to practice and thought there was no way I was going to get on since they were hosting a tournament for Vietnam veterans. I picked up a large bucket and headed to the range. 

After finishing, there was literally two groups out on the course. I went in, paid for my round, and off we went.

Anyone who has know me on here for any amount of time knows I hate the 10th at Flagstone (formerly Chatata Valley), I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. The miss is right and I teed up 5 wood and ripped it right. I'm thinking it caught the slope because I ended up just to the left of the cart path, 107 from the green. If I use the scorecard yardage, that was a 230 yard 5 wood. Hit PW left of the hole, chipped to 15 feet and two putted for bogey.

Also want to mention hole 15, it's a dogleg left with trees guarding against cutting the corner. I hit a great drive just right of the trees and landed in what I will call a "junker", a junk bunker. 

Had 154 uphill left to the pin and centered a 6 iron.

Landed short of the green left, chipped up and 3 putted. I left the putt way short, which is on me.

Overall, everything in the bag performed well. I didn't hit a lot of fairways, but the driver was solid. I love the sound it make when I get it close to the center. I did lose 3 balls, one was a smoked pull, one I just topped left into some high grass, and one was a banana slice on 18. 

Fairways and hybrids were awesome! After losing my drive on 18, I hit a provisional that I tried to hit too hard and topped about 120. Hit a nice 3 wood leaving 190 into the green. Hit 5 wood just a little slice, but solid enough to leave me pin high right. Got up and down for the bogey.

My irons performed great, it's amazing at the distance gain I'm seeing. I know they're aggressively lofted, but wow! When I can remember my swing thoughts which are "twist and turn" I am hitting some really good shots. 

Wedges and putter need just a little tweak from me to dial in distances, but were solid performers. 

Overall, early indicators are leaning toward me playing better golf with the Cobra's. Shot 49 the other day and 53 today for a total of 102 after two rounds.
