Handicap is only part of the story and selection process. Player strengths, weaknesses, availability, activity, previous Tests, Location and so much more are taken into consideration. 
Someone can be a 8, but also be a bad putter but just good in other areas.

I hear you calling my name. My intro explains it better but I do not consider myself a good putter. Pulling up stats from my last 5 round on arrcos sorry its oct 2021 but don't have any recent cars with me. Shot a 81 average and putting handicap was 14. My lowest number of putts for 18 was 35.

If I keep the ball in play and putt well my scores drop fast.

It will help you get started and understand how we select our testers. 

I do need to do an official count back, however at last I checked we had now selected 27 brand new testers so far this season! 

Can confirm, as I am one of them (PS go check out the red rooster sussex test!) We all have to start somewhere and can't expect to be testing clubs as a newly active member of the forum! We need to put the time in and show we are signing up for the right reasons.

yeah but ... If I had a choice, I would have rather tested the LINK putter   But, nevertheless, I will give it my due diligence like always   regardless of what testing it is.  Just thankful for the opportunity

Strokes gained would be the biggest thing I'd be looking for. I went from an 8 to a 6 due to a putter last year

Welcome to the Forum. Of course you post a picture of the round you beat me.

This is my father who surprising after many time telling him about this forum only joins when I find out I'm testing clubs.

He is a bad influence and will convince you to play 54 because what else are we going to do. Well glad to have you here and gladly keep me honest with my storys and stats.

Had a FaceTime call with the man himself this evening, Sam Hahn CEO of LAB Golf. Saying he is extremely passionate about his product and mission would be an understatement. Such a pleasant gentleman to speak with, it was a very cool experience. 
 

Can’t wait for y’all to see what’s coming!

I love Sam! He played a big role in me ultimately buying the Directed Force and helped me tune it in to become the automatic putter that it is today. His passion is contagious!

Excited seeing all the orders getting placed. I had a call with Sam as well and he is very knowledgeable and easy to go down a rabbit hole with.

As for my fitting there's good and bad. Once I sent Sam the video he emailed be back within about 2 mins and said "Call Me". He explained since my eye position is actually past the ball that is just not a good way to putt. Causes both aiming to wrong and then pull the putt trying to correct what my eyes are seeing. 

He had me work on a getting further away from the ball this will change my hand position on the grip as well as the angle of the shaft/Head. So he had me practice that as much as possible last night and today to get comfortable in a better position. He doesn't want me to try it once and say good he wants me to fix and adjust to the new stance and stroke before defining the specs for the club. After about 100 balls in the stance I felt comfortable with he said it looks much better. I sent him 3 videos lining setting up and putting with no "checking" my position to help him see the change/consistency. 

So in summary I was basically told by the CEO that with my current position I really can't be a great putter. I was also very apparent that he just wants me to putt well not just fit a putter to my crappy stance. He really gives the precption that he wants everyone to just putt better.

I'm sure there is a little VIP experience since we are talking to Sam directly but yea he told him to call if I see any issues and definitely call when I get the delivery so he can explain some tips how to adapt and get the most out of the LAB putter.

So thrilled to see this - really, really excited to see how this new putter helps your game.  One of my favorite parts of the putter is that once I set it behind the ball, I can actually step up to it the same way, every time, and know that I'm in the correct position.  With my previous putters, I was always kind of guessing at what "felt right", but because the lie-angle is right for ME, I know that I'm in a good position each and every time.

Yea I want to see how it affects my game as well. I was thinking that the LAB being tailored to me should really help get in the right position. I'm glad you have seen that is the case.

I have been in between my Newport 2 and my ER2 for the longest time with the Newport 2 gaining the bag spot for the past few months or so. Initially I plan to put it up against the Scotty, but since this is an extended test I will most likely throw the ER2 in the bag at some point, not sure if it will be before or after the six week mark,  and compare the numbers there as well.

Hope your experience proves worthwhile and you find the L.A.B. Golf putter as much a keeper as the DF2.1 is for me after my 2022 test.  Your experiences and insights are going to be of great interest so please post often and include all the writing and eye candy photos you can manage

After a few conversations with Sam Hahn, my Link1 is on order!

We had a great chat about putters, including similarities and differences between other toe up low torque putters on the market and LABs products.  For other low torque toe up putters on the market they get to toe up by either adding a lot of weight to the heel, removing weight from the toe, or some offset shaft balancing.  As it was explained to me, this can result in putters that have much hotter or deader sections of the face based on where the weight is distributed.  Those solutions also do not completely eliminate torque in the putting stroke. 

For LAB, without getting into proprietary details, they have a different technical solution that isn't fully relying on either head weight or  shaft position.  (Lie angle Balance anyone?)  Sam refers to this as the secret sauce and my (layman's) interpretation was that it was a blend of both along with some other undisclosed methodology or testing protocol.  

The other part of the conversation related more technically to build was in regards to swing weight.   In prep for the fitting I was measuring and swing weighting my gamer and decided to do the same with all the putters I've kept in the stable.  Pretty consistently across the board they were all in the mid E range.  I mentioned this to Sam and he suggested that we build the putter at F0 since the brain registers torque as head weight.  Because of this, it might feel too light if we built at my preferred E5!  He mentioned that the DF 2.1 are all mostly built in the G range and people often talk about how light they feel.
