Nice start, @Syks7! People constantly ask in our group over on Facebook but you should be good to change grips without messing up the balance. You can wait on a definite answer from Sam but he usually advises that it's ok. I went with the cord on my incoming Link, hoping I like it!

Glad someone has one in hand. Mine looks like it will be Monday.

The Link definitely looks nice and is the aesthetic choice of their offering. The shape looks great and traditional but definitely looks a little longer heel to toe and a bit thicker front to back than the Yes(?) Anser putter. I'm glad the first few putts are rolling well, seems to be a touch of a learning curve on how it is swung but really curious to see your results.

Yeah, it looks basically like a scaled up Anser.  Just rolled a few more in the garage this morning and there's definitely going to be a learning curve.  Even with my light arc/straight back through stroke my hands do a lot of work manipulating the face on my other putters and I can feel that tendency kind of fighting with the Link.

Much appreciated.  Going to give this grip a try for a week or two before I make a decision.

Very cool to see that some of the product is beginning to arrive. I can feel the excitement around this test and the anticipation from those still waiting for that fateful delivery truck. Interesting to hear that there seems to be a bit of a learning curve when using these. In my head the Lie Angle Balance system is marketed almost as a pick up & play magical feeling. Maybe better described as an "unlearning" curve from the way you putt with the old putters.

When I got my first one there was definitely a little learning with it. Really it's just ball position and making sure you let the putter do the work. Sam has a cool drill that helps train yourself to trust that the face actually stays square on it's own. It helps the user to engage the shoulders and back to move the putter, rather than using the hands to steer it. Basically you grip the putter with no thumbs on it. I'm sure he'll explain it to the testers and they can expand on it more, but that is the gist of it when he explained it to me.

What were your results?

I did for the Link.1 putter and they advised the same length as my current putter (35”) and a slightly flatter lie angle (67*) compared to the stock 69/70.

I have hit the Link.1 but not the other styles which I am trying to do before placing my order.

Okay, so I'm hoping one of you other guys gets your soon.  I want to compare notes on initial thoughts.

I took mine to the putting green today and probably rolled 100? putts.  It was a getting to know you session focused more on learning the putter than any data gathering.  I watched a few of Sam's videos about making the adjustment to letting the putter do the work and did a few of his drills.  Here's a few more initial thoughts after the session.

The Grip:

Still not exactly what I want, but much more serviceable than I thought.  Enough so that it's not worth the effort to swap the grip out.  A little bit of sun and heat and it had the tackiness that I like in the Lamkin.  The shape is very comfortable and the feel of the grip never entered my mind.

The Putter:

Honestly, even though today was just about getting familiar with the equipment, there was an unexpected amount of wow.   I started off just one handing putts with my trail hand from 50ish feet.  Then I started at 5 feet and worked my way out with three balls before finishing with a single ball in expected 'round' situations.  There were still three putts, mostly the uphill > than 50' variety, but at that point even PGA pros are getting north of 2 for expected putts.   Though I'm excited about the product, I'm making a point to be objective, detached, and to take good days with a grain of salt to avoid Rose colored glasses.  Even with that mentality I was still a bit surprised today.

Notes from the first session:

-- I found it shockingly easy to put a good roll on the ball with the Link.  It seems easy to hit the center of the face, and consequently it's pretty easy to hit a start line.

-- The more I focused on line and target the better the Link performed.  The opposite was also very true.  If I thought about my stroke at all I tended to get handsy and ended up fighting the putter.  For me this meant pulling the putt below the hole as I tried to force a release.

-- I made a weirdly high amount of long putts and one putts in the one ball portion of today's session.  By long I mean north of 20' -- including a multiple break 45 ft downhill putt from the top to the bottom tier --  and by weirdly high I mean somewhere north of 5 and south of 10.  It was enough enough that I forgot how many, and enough that it was noticed by others on the putting green.  Nobody came to check out what I was hitting though.  Sneaky Anser style blade doesn't turn heads in quite the same way as a Mez or DF2.1.    I found myself just kind of shaking my head when stuff dropped.  I'm obviously not expecting this to be repeated all the time, but the Link certainly did a good job selling itself today and making me feel comfortable with it.

-- At my yip range, 5-8 feet, I still had similar issues.  This is the range that I seem to be fighting the putter.  Opposite miss of my gamer where I tend to hang the face open and push miss as I fight release.  This is clearly a me issue that I hope will start to iron out as I get more comfortable with the Link.

I’m going to get a few glamour shots either later tonight after dinner or tomorrow evening after work, but I just wanted to chime in real quick and say the L.A.B. headcover is absolute quality. I’m a firm believer that if you’re buying a premium putter, you should get a premium cover alongside it. *Cough cough Scotty*

We had access to upgrade to the ACCRA shafts. In my case, he recommended it over the steel shaft. He mentioned if I wanted an LA Golf shaft I would just have to pay the difference, but he said for the Link it wouldn’t be a good combo anyway.

Great Feedback interesting to hear that they were rolling smooth and once you got accustomed to it were really holding target line. Im sure if you would have been standing there with the DF2.1 you would have been getting different looks or comments from people (good and bad).

Looking good glad to see it has arrived. Waiting to see initial thoughts. Interesting to see the close up of the face and cavity with the logos they look really nice but seems like you can see some burn (fuzziness) on the engraving. Thats being super picky but interesting to see.

Thoughts after my first round/tournament with the Link. 37 putts & only 33 feet of putts made.

-- The ball went exactly where I aimed it, I just over read the greens today and blew the speed control on a couple long putts.

-- Still feels very consistent.  I don't think I had one that I didn't like the roll.

-- Approach put a lot of pressure on my putting average proximity to the hole was 27 feet today with a long of 60 ' and a short of 12.5' -- not exactly one putt land.

-- Aside from the two three putts I never had a leave that was outside my over 90% make range 3-4'.   My line was just a bit off and most of the cleanup was 6" tap ins that died besdie the hole or 2' easy putts just past the hole.   My instructor would have called many of them 'made putts'  -- they went exactly where I aimed them, were well struck, and had the right speed but they didn't go in the hole.

-- There were a couple knee knocker stressful short 3&4 footers.  Lots of break from side to side above the hole.  These are prime yip putts for me and all I had to do was point the putter at the top 1/4 of the hole and give it a solid stroke.  The more it happened the more comfortable I got just giving it the kind of stroke that takes the break out and knocks it in the back of the cup.  It's somewhat embarassing to say, but I haven't played a tournament or round this year where I didn't miss one of these nervy little knee knockers.  If this putter will help me cut those out I'll be a happy golfer.

I’m a firm believer that if you’re buying a premium putter, you should get a premium cover alongside it. *Cough cough Scotty*

Few things about golf equipment annoy me quite like this. My $600 AUD Scotty has a crap, plasticky headcover with velcro, and would still cost me $100ish to replace if I had to, meanwhile I can buy a way better quality, thicker, debossed Ping headcover with magnetic closure for $30. My mate bought a knock-off Circle T headcover headcover from Aliexpress for $20 to replace his lost Scotty headcover and it's better quality than my real one.

Yeah, I don't understand it. The Phantom 5.5 I have came with the most obnoxious headcover I've ever laid eyes on. I've considered buying a Spider headcover from Taylormade's Vault collection, but I know I won't be able to get over the fact it says Taylormade on it lol. It's awesome to see that L.A.B. did not cheap out in this area.

So, if you all know me you know I like to approach the unboxing and pictures from a different angle. This is one of my favorite parts about doing reviews. I tried to keep it simple this time and a little industrial-esque, because to me, that's what the Link reminds me of. So, I hope you enjoy these closeups and some of my initial thoughts on the Link.1

IMG_2610.jpg.a92b16041dd80a26040cb6980a9879c5.jpg  IMG_2615.jpg.23a40da2dedf14a09b100b219b689ff2.jpg

Right out of the gate, the thing is a beautiful piece of art. Just by glancing at it, you wouldn't suspect it to be a member of the L.A.B. lineup. I think one thing that turns most people off with L.A.B. putters is their unorthodox looks. It's undeniable that appearance plays a large role in golf, and if you aren't satisfied with how your putter looks while standing over it, chances are you aren't going to have a fun time when you get to the green. Fortunately, the Link.1 closely mimics that classic Anser style that most people know and love.

IMG_2617.jpg.a89506105cc199a3232a20a033ecdde3.jpg  IMG_2628.jpg.876651519a527371a3dea095b58090ac.jpg

IMG_2629.jpg.8f8cd247ae8d043e51bca64883ac4773.jpg  IMG_2646.jpg.fdc554e5e4ed26a495ea8abc564b3a87.jpg

As mentioned earlier in this thread, some of the areas that are laser etched do have a slight fuzziness to them, but that's something you're never going to see unless you're getting up close and personal with it. Speaking of FRIGGIN' LASERS (hopefully someone catches that reference), that is how all of the logos and sight lines are added to the putter. There are eight different options to choose between when it comes to alignment marks. I decided to be basic and go with the traditional line, as that's what I'm most accustomed to. I know some people may be turned off by the back of the putter, with all of the etchings of their logo in various sizes, but I think it's an awesome touch. I mean, it's L.A.B., they're known for standing out!

IMG_2636.jpg.46892583e4c974a187ff7ae304a60f49.jpg

By now, those of who may not be familiar with L.A.B. are probably asking yourself "What's up with all the assortment of weights?" Well, those weights are what makes these putters what they are. They're the foundation of the lie, angle, balance tech. At first, I wasn't sure how my OCD would handle the weights while I'm looking down, readying to putt. I usually prefer a clean top line, however, it never really seemed to bother me on the few putts I've been able to roll around inside. The weights located toward the heel you don't really notice since the shaft is sorta blocking them. It kind of reminded me of an old SeeMore putter with the red dot that you had to line up.

IMG_2644.jpg.7ba0248eee35e9c1aa12d92c4e939dbf.jpg  IMG_2671.jpg.599b4eb63b90667ded74534279d44604.jpg

I mentioned this earlier, but it's worth bringing up again. The headcover that L.A.B. includes is seriously 12/10! First off, it's magnetic. That is already a win in my book. Beyond that, it is super soft on the inside, the fit is very snug, the stitching all around is superb, and the debossing on the latch is very well done! Believe it or not, they also went a little nontraditional on it as well. There is a flap, for lack of better terms, that is sewed in just above where it latches that ensures the entire putter is protected. It is extremely well-built and very on brand for L.A.B. Other companies should definitely take note.

IMG_2649.jpg.ab74ff9c6fbbca2827dcdad525bb8ce1.jpg  IMG_2650.jpg.c77e7103cb2287d29794c1fd07bab71a.jpg  IMG_2651.jpg.71f4a1a2fbe7100c69ac6e1bbadfaf9f.jpg

As for now, I have only been able to roll a few putts indoors with the Puttout set up, and it didn't feel too different than my normal blade putter. This could also be in my head and may change once I get out on the green. There has been a slow rain off and on for the past couple days that's really put a damper on things, but I'm going to try and make it out tomorrow after work and get some actual reps in with it. I want to try and gather as much data as I can for you fine folks. STAY TUNED!

That Link.1 looks so good, in a mallet guy but L.A.B. did a great job of building a sexy blade putter. Personally, I like all the weights being on the putter because I love the industrial look. It's like with Edel irons and wedges and how they give off the same vibe. I can see why all of you have been raving about the head covers because it appears that L.A.B. is going the extra mile to let you know it's a premium product.

Great photos! I'm looking forward to hearing how it rolls.

Totally agree on the looks. People who are obsessed with symmetry, the weighs are probably driving them crazy 😂

That's not a bad find, but I haven't seen that video yet. Love watching John and Ash out hunting for bargains.
