A much better showing this week! Although it is one of the easier courses in town it gives a good challenge with your approach shots. Club selection and how you want to play the short game is quite important from 150 and in.

GIR, again, not quite where Id like it but Im getting there! Same with FIR, much closer to my 50% goal for the season. Time to grind for that tour card!

Too much family and kids school happening last week to get out and play, but got a few hours in on practice at least.  Only got 4 greens in regulation on the front 9 but got up and down on the other 5, playing the front even.  With the exception of the chunky wedge I hit on 10 to get a bogey my short/approach game from about 80 yards in was considerably better than it has been in recent rounds.  9 pars on the front, then I start the back bogey, bogey..... # 11 is the most innocuous looking par 3, but it has my number every time I play.  My longest drive of the day and 1 natural birdie came on 18.  Handicap is moving in the right direction.  Hoping to be below a 10 index by June.  

What a round from a 10 cap! Congrats!

Great ball striking day with the Callaway Paradym Irons. Shot of the day had 189 to the hole and had to hook it around a tree. Hit 7 iron to 13 feet. That shot went like a rocket and still hit soft! Love these clubs more each round!!

I guess this is the tale of 2 golfers, could not get a single put to fall today.  I was a half ball outside the cup for pretty much the entire round.  I was making great contact off the tee but couldn't decide if I wanted to go right to left or left to right.  2 3-putts today which really hurt but I have 2 more rounds scheduled for the week and I'll be looking for redemption!!

OK, I'll play.   I play every morning before work at the same course in Mason City, IA.  6am.  Been stuck in a rut lately - not hitting any GIR, having to get up and down.  Usually shoot in the upper 70s - my best round is a 71 on this course.  Hoping one day to shoot a 69 - but something always bites me.  Not getting any easier.

Not a great round for me, but it did re-affirm my need for a lesson.  Going with a swing evaluation tomorrow the 12th with potentially a full summer package depending on how I get along with the instructor.

Some rounds apples and some apple sauce! Driver and short game stunk. When you hit 2 par 5’s in two and only make par you know it’s not going well! However, the Callaway Paradym Irons continued to perform. They actually kept me in the game!

Darn it!  Had it at 2 under with 3 to play but took bogies on 2 holes to close at even.  One of those could have been rounds, had 2 lip outs and 3 putts stop on the edge, so ,-5 or better was within reach, but that's probably asking for too much.

The biggest news out of this round is that I have a new anti-inflammatory diet and new drugs. My knees and ankle are feeling the best they have since 2020. Subsequently, my ball striking was very good on full swings. Distance control left much to be desired. Wedges were even worse. I hit 12/14 fairways, just 6/18 GIR. 29 putts. Wedges, well, I dropped 8 strokes today because of poor wedge play. The problem is my body is moving in ways I haven’t been able for some time. This is a good problem to have. 
 

One week before the biggest tournament of the year, not that I was sandbagging, I tried to make everyone of those putts to win money, but this was the last day before the flightimg for the tournament. Handicap will remain unchanged. 
 

I’m still adjusting to the LAB Putter. I did sink a 47’er. But missed a 4’er because of misreading the break.

Played my last round in Northern California today, Shot 85 with one triple Bogey and two Double Bogeys. The greens were recovering from being aerated. Overall the course was in good shape.

Much, MUCH better day today than Monday, even if the net difference is only 6 strokes. Felt like night and day. Putted great - 7 1-putts, no 3-putts, missed about 6 15'+ putts by 6" or less,  and missed one where the stick was leaning to the right and the ball hit it and circled around the hole, hugging the stick the entire time, only to end up on the other side of the hole. I only realized after that there was sand in the bottom of the cup, causing the pin to lean. No pin, would've dropped. Oh well. 

Gave away some truly stupid shots - just got lazy and left the face wide open on "easy" shots. Probably should've had a banana at the turn

But... It was a perfect day otherwise with a great friend who beat me by one stroke (see above re: pin to know why this hurts so bad, lol). 

Golf shot app is pretty awesome, btw. I still have to remember to use the watch to identify clubs before hitting - still used to Shotscope watch - but it's a genuinely great piece of tech.

Very strange round. Didn’t feel like I played very well but scored ok. Putted poorly by my normal standards, but everything else wasn’t too bad.

Rough round this week. Was living off the hosel. My driver was in shambles and putting took a dump today at least. Had a 10ft birdie attempt on a par three where I ended up three putting. Best drive was a swing I just tried to swing smooth and fairway find. Somehow got out there 289 yards. I was shocked. The nine today really tried to keep tempo (tour tempo beats prior to round) and keeping my arms connected to my body. Midway through the nine just tried to focus on striking the toe as I was hoseling everything. Chuck this up as a bad round and move on. At least it was gorgeous out.
