So in just one month, you gained 15% more speed? That’s awesome, as they only claim you’ll gain 5% after 6 weeks!

did you follow the current training protocol of every other day only with a few rest periods prior to the heavy stick?

How many yards did you gain from 96 (about where I am to start), to the 111 at the end? When you stopped, was it a quick loss back to 100, or did it take about the same length of time as it took to gain the speed, or a month give or take.?

My drives went to 280+ yards. I’m not sure how long it took to go back to normal length drives. I was so long that I started using 3 wood on many holes instead of driver. My hybrid even went to 240 a couple of times.

A month ago I was back at 102mph, today I’m unsure as I’ve started working out as well to gain speed again.

It’s too hot for the sticks now, if I use them I will be too tired to do anything else.

Also, as an aside, if the videos for me doing the dynamic warmup thing week after week get good engagement, I promise that for the final week of the training I'll do it in a similar outfit to one Ms. Jennifer Fleischer. Is that a threat or a promise? Only you, the loving members of this forum may decide.

Session 1 in the books. Most definitely got my heart rate up!

Decided to edit the post to include some info.

  1. Pre/Post training speed (air swings with the driver) were 73 and 77 respectively.
  2. Dominant swings (in order of Light, Medium, Heavy) were 77, 77 and 72.
  3. Non-Dominant swings were 80% of Dominant.
  4. Step swings were (same order as #2) 70, 71 and 71. The only reason that I can think of why they were slower is that I felt somewhat awkward doing them.
  5. Non-Dominant step swings were 85% of Dominant
  6. Final Dominant swing with Light club was 82.

Next session is Saturday.

my first "official" session in the books today. For me, the step-swing is where the real speed happens, which leads me to believe Happy Gilmore is a true movie...

Couldn't break the 100 mph with the driver while hitting a real ball, but I did get to 99. Altho I can do it with the John Daly swing. But, I dont play with that swing, so I dont test with it either...

Did my first session as well.  My numbers were a bit all over the place, and the non-dominant side swings were a clear reminder of how un-coordinated I am.

Alright, so the first testing session was last night. I'm proud to report that it was a fun time! The swinging from the opposite side is something I know I'm going to have to try and figure out better because I didn't feel wholly confident trying to build speed there, but from where we were after the pre-session check at 92, I'm proud to announce we averaged across the five swings at the end 92.8! So a slight increase but maxing out at 95 on a 90 degree day after loading in an AC Unit and a long day at work felt really nice. Below is the rudimentary spreadsheet I had my loving wife help fill out for me. Loving those Max swings at the end of the protocol to see where you are.

I hope the weather will break for my testing run on Friday, so slightly cooler temps and not as hard physical labor means some more gains, hopefully. But from the phone call, I'd note that the average over these 10 weeks is around 5-6 percent total, so goal then is to hit around 100 consistently after ten weeks. It's going to be a fun summer. Oh, a dynamic warmup video coming this weekend I think, or maybe tonight. Depends on my wife's schedule and mine, since we are crazy busy this weekend.

I've updated my initial post with my baseline numbers - looks like I'll be trying to build off of a 110-mph club-head speed.

Two sessions in and I feel like I'm getting the hang of it. I have tons of room for improvement given my lack of existing workout regimen, but these rates of improvement are definitely not sustainable!

What has surprised me the most is that with the normal swings, my non-dominant hand is only 10 mph slower. Feels awkward as all-get-out (and I'm sure if there was a ball in front of me I would whiff) but at least I am getting some speed out of it!

Cool jumps on those step swings already and the non dominant as well. Those non dominant swings can for sure help you to feel what you do to generate speed and are a great motor learning process to transfer that speed to the dominant side. Awesome work!

Session 2 today: step swings are already feeling less awkward, and all three clubs showed speed increases unlike my first go-around. Non-dominant swings remain challenging. My final, maxed out light club was 85 mph and pre/post drivers were 74 and 81, respectively.

Good session today. Really worked the warm up routine today, then smoothed my way up with some easy swing wedges, to a strong 7 iron, and then my official Pre-routine driver swings.

pre session 7-iron speed was 84, and the Post session speed was 87 mph

pre session driver speed was 95 mph (best of 5 swings) post was 102 mph!

in case anyone thinks this training doesn’t Rev you up, my heart rate started at 62 bpm, and then I checked it about 3/4 of the way through, and it was 106!, and I was huffing and puffing. But granted, I’m a chubby 67 year old, haha

Great job on these! Sounds like you are already tapping into some speed that you have available that your body just needs to recognize. Love that ligh club 85, lets keep it up!

Love it! Great speeds, it should rev you up no matter who you are. I was doing mine in the backyard today, I've been doing it for almost 2 years now and I still get that heart rate pumping. Awesome to see that 7 mph jump in driver. What will happen as you continue to train is that pre session speed is going to start creeping closer and closer to the post session speed.

So speed wise up probably 10 to 12 mph. Started just over 100 and now I can push it over 110. I have also been working on a few swing changes as well, some attack angles of the driver. I'm not exaggerating when I say I am hitting the driver probably 40 yards past where I was 2 years ago. I play a course weekly that I have probably played for 20 years. On par 4s I used to hit anything from an 8 iron (after a good drive) to even a hybrid after a bad one. I played there last week and hit short irons, and little wedges into a lot of greens. It sure makes the game easier. This year I have had multiple looks at eagle in the same round on par 5s, used to be I never could reach a par 5 green in two. Again i'm not exaggerating this, people I play with bring it up a lot how much farther I hit the ball now.

After watching Adam Young's "Strike Plan" late last year and acting on his recommendations, I have become a big believer in the distance benefits of increased AoA. Increasing my AoA to 4*-5* (up from about 1* or so) has added about 20 yards to my driver distance with no increase in speed.

My interest in Super Speed training is the result of realizing that I had optimized the distance for my (really slow) swing speed, so next step....increase speed.

The week one sessions are in the books ladies and gents. and there has been some jumps, which is very very encouraging. First let's talk about the two sessions on Friday and Sunday.

Friday was a super hot day and I was sweating just standing outside so I waited until the evening and went outside to take on the session, even at 90 plus in the evening. Do I think that helped keep the muscles loose, I do. I also think that led to some late fatigue as well as the session went on. Compare that with today's session. Temperatures much more moderate, but I also took on today's session after a big lunch, so full of food for energy, but maybe should have waiting until we fully digested in spots.

Now, let's talk numbers. Speed are getting more consistent, and more importantly higher. Friday's Yellows were the first to hit 100 on non-max out swings, hitting one on a step swing. Today we hit that triple digit twice on regular right handed swings and once on a step. Greens got remarkably consistent averaging the same speed for all three swings on the right side in step and non-step, and Blue was up as well.

Also, you'll note a jump in Friday's numbers for left handed swings from session one. I went to an interlocking grip with the left handed swing to make me feel more connected and it felt more like I could bet it moving. I went away from it today to try a full 10 finger grip, but that didn't work as well. So I'm trying to find the right way to keep speeds up and it looks like interlocking on the left is helping.

So here's the raw numbers, and we'll be updating the spreadsheet at the top of the thread as well. Biggest things for me is maxing out on yellow at 105, and an increase of 1.8 mph after week 1, which works out as a 1.95% jump after 3 sessions. If we keep that up over the 10 weeks, that's crazy growth, but the good news is that it's working.

Alright I know I am a little behind everyone else but I wanted to start fresh for a M,W,F routine. I also had training for the military Fri-Sun and there wasn't much time to complete the training. So I went to the range and did my first session today. My goal is to go to the range everytime, I have one very close to my job so why not. I have to say that I was a little nervous as I wanted to make sure I setup everything right and followed the warmup correctly as well. It took a little more time than expected but mainly because I was pausing the videos to make sure I was doing everything correctly. I am a very competitive person so once I started swinging I was just trying to beat my own speeds. It's a great motivator. It's only session 1 so I know there isn't much to go off of but what I really noticed was that my lower back and core are sore already, good thing I did the warmup first! As you can see below I started my session with a 119 driver speed and the post training speed was 123. The club head speed definitely increased but ball speed decreased and so did carry distance. I know there are many factors that go into those numbers, so I am intrigued to see how that changes over the course of this training. I was hoping to go play 18 holes tomorrow but I might have to wait until my body gets more accustomed to the training and not so sore afterwards. I know the sheet I wrote on is a little messy but I wanted to see what all the swings were before I entered the fastest one into my spread sheet.
