Still too many penalties off the tee. Other than that, one of those round where I couldn't really get it moving. Many near misses with putter. Could have been way better and could have been worse. One to the next one tomorrow for the 4th round of the week.

Other than snagging a CTP with a 9-iron to 2'8" it was a true mail-it-in performance.

It didn't help when a teammate picked-up my ball & put it in his cart on the first hole!! Who in the **** does that?????

First time I've played the blue tees, which are designed to follow 9 holes from the white to create a Par 70 with a rating 67.6/123. This is a fun little setup.

Yesterday was the white tees "front 9" around the same track from different distances. Total stats 7/12 FW 7/18 gir 38 putts. Couldn't get a birdie to fall either day but 2 pars yesterday and 3 today. 11 bogeys and 2 doubles over the 18 combined.

Even though I shot 80, I struggled all day with my balance during my swing; hit some real winners/whiners.  If not for my short game, my score would have been 86-87.  Chipped/pitched several close for par and bogey saves and made several long putts for par and one 15 footer to save bogey.

Finished my second round with the Max putting grip from Garsen and made two birdie putts 9 and 17 feet. Had 29 putts.  Second round in a row with less than 30 putts.  My season average is 32.2.  I am liking that grip more and more every round.  
 

Good driving day.  Blasted one 311 on a par five leaving 5 iron from 195 up a hill that makes it play like 210.  I’ve got too much gap between the 5iron and 4 hybrid.  I birdied this same hole earlier this week by hitting on in two but was above the flag and it’s impossible to hold the green from the back ledge.  I hit the 5 iron just  short of the green and lucked out as it stayed there.  Usually anything short is 25-30 yearns back down the fairway.  But, I  muffed the pitch from 20 feet and left myself a 9 footer which I drained for the birdie. Still can’t break the double habit as I had two today from self inflicted stupidity.  I wish I could hit every shot like I see them in my pre shot routine.

This was round #100 posted for the week.     

Not the score you were hoping for, sure, but thanks for contributing chipping in to make it a record breaking week for WVCT.

Visiting my family this week.  I was able to sneak out and take advantage of a beautiful day in the Yakima Valley.  Wasn't expecting to be able to play this trip, but glad I was able to run out than play today.  I am a little rusty with my short game, but was striking the ball really well.  A couple of natural birdies on the back nine.  38-38=76.  

Welcome back to the PNW!!  Nice round at Apple Tree!  Love that course, but it seems to hate me.

The round that could have been. Started brilliantly, my 4 net birdies came in my first 4 holes. Turned one over with a lost ball double.

Then it all fell to pieces. 8 over on the back 9, iron swing in particular was very poor. Left myself lots of very long putts. I let the strong wind mess with my head a bit.

Continuing my inability to put a good score together.

Started on back nine. Beautiful day. Lovely course. Super slow group ahead of us causing round o be 6 hours. Think Cantly but a worse player. Was +1 through the first five. Then my driver head spun and can no longer screw into the adapter. So had to play the round with no driver the rest of the way. After that was curtains. 37 putts. Left a lot short. 9 overall penalty strokes (5 due to my 4w off the tee). Some lucky breaks (going through trees or lucky bounces) and some terrible ones (flier from a ball in a divot in the middle of the fairway from 100 out, lead to an 8 due to an unplayable and then no room to pitch. Great group of guys to play with. 10 strokes better than my first tournament last year. Also I learned I am capable of some damn good golf.

Definitely carving out a day or two later this summer when I come back to visit to catch a round with you Kenny.  Still waiting to hear about the Official/Unofficial PNW Meetup... hope that happens!!

Back to my old stomping grounds today.  Can't believe how small these greens are!!!!  And many of them Turtle Backs.  If I played these greens all the time.. either I would become more accurate with my approach shots, or my GIR average would go WAY down!!  haha.  Took me a few holes to figure out the green speed (pretty slow compared to my Houston course) - and my Driver was ON POINT today.  

39-37=76.

The score doesn't really tell the story.

Blustery day (westerly upto 30mph) with the course playing dry and hard. With the west wind I always find the course plays harder, long par 4s play into the wind and the shorter ones down wind. Lots of long irons, hybrids and 3w for approaches which meant scrambling was at a premium, unfortunately for me I seemed to short side myself 90% of the time which made it impossible to get close even summoning my inner Phil.

After 2 months of struggling with poor ball striking the last 2 rounds have been very positive. Although not scoring I have a least the foundations to build back and optimistic.
