I play a combo set of 7 - PW (T100s) and 4,5 &6 (T200). When I got them I was a 7 hc and have gotten down to a 4. I have a fitting scheduled for 7/27 and will be looking at a complete set of T150.

Personally, I like the size of the T100s irons over the couple of T200 that I have. I just love the turf interaction that I get out of them, also for some reason I can hit the sweet spot more consistent with the smaller head.

I too, am interested in the T150. This summer I have been playing a set of Callaway Apex MB 18’s, and while long term playing muscle back blades is a low percentage play, I absolutely seem to be centering the ball better with the smaller head. Which leads me in search of a small head with more forgiveness, enter the T150.

Please be sure to let us know how the fitting goes and of course, how they play!

I played blades for 40 years, Hogan Apex exclusively.  About 10 years ago, I got fitted for ping S58s which were my first cavity backs.  Loved em.  The polymer inserts in the back of my 5i and PW cracked and fell out of the back channel. I got fitted again and went with something I never expected…PXG 0211s.  Mine are 2 degrees flat to help with my “overdraw”. It would be interesting to see if I would enjoy hitting blades again.

Could anyone who has done the fitting with Titleist for irons in the past give me and idea of what to expect?

I heard they do fittings slightly different than other brands or fitters. I have had a fitting for irons in 10 years.

Definitely a few different things.  One you are paying $100 for the fitting, so they will make sure you get what you pay for AND more.

  • The fitter is either a full time Titleist fitter or one that is practically full time doing more than 40 to 50 events a season, and is trained by Titleist corporate fitters, not just given a fitting cart and trackman and said go do it.  Titleist has a strict set of protocols for their fittings, that I won't go into here but it's a lot more than most mobile fittings.   I know as I see mobile fittings from every OEM: during the year multiple times.
  • You will get a full dedicated 1 hour 1 on 1 with the Rep.  He's isn't  going between two or three different customers during the same time.
  • Most every time, they will have more than just a 7 iron head to hit, I had the 5,7,9 and P to hit.  They have a full assortment of shafts, both stock and premium.
  • In some cases not everywhere, it depends where, you will be hitting ProV's not range rocks.   This will make a big difference in your data.
  • As for the numbers and results, most companies use Trackman or GCQuad, so you'll get those numbers from most anyone, and most competent fitters will be able to explain them thoroughly to you and what's important
    • Although Titleist will focus on the 3 D's
      • Dispersion
      • Distance
      • Descent Angle.
  • Titleist will not pressure you to buy on the spot, although if you do, your $100 fitting fee goes toward the purchase.

Those are the major differences I have seen in helping out with fittings from every company through the year when we host them.

Unfortunately he didn't have all the heads in LH so I only hit the 350. Which were fine, but we will be meeting up again in a week or so to do the rest of the series.

For those of you that are mid teen handicaps why are you playing T100 to T100s? Those are players irons, wouldn’t you be better off with a more forgiving club? I am generally curious because I was looking to switch to the T200s this past season but just didn’t see enough of a difference between them and my current mixed set of Epons, the 503 and 303, mixed set. I would think anyone that is shooting high 80s and 90s is going to be better off with a bigger sweet spot not the smallest one.

I based off handicap expected to be fit for the T 200 set. I had a fitting on the 12th and was for for the T100 PW through 6 iron. T200 4 and 5. I saw more consistency with the T100 irons from shot to shot without an major differences in height or distance. The 4 and 5 I wasn't hitting as high and the ball speed started to drop off with the T100 so I went with T 200 for those clubs.

This is a very good description of what I experienced. Previous fittings I have had were more just feel and not data backed. I'm not sure if it's more so because it's been a number of years since my last fitting but it was a lot more informative and ultimately still my decision.

I would imagine they will be similar to what the previous sets were. I don't think most iron sets have gone up that much in the last couple years with a few exceptions.

Got fit on July 12th for T100s 4-9 and SM9 46F/50F/54D/58D. Wedges arrived last Friday the 21st and irons arrived yesterday the 24th. Incredibly fast turnaround.

Can’t wait to go out after work tonight and get ‘em dirty (then get home and meticulously clean them)

I played mine this weekend, Came in Friday evening and I was out Sunday with them. Picked up some distance, I think because of quality of strike improving due to the fitting. I have the T200 4-5 and T100 6-PW, much more forgiving than I had thought they would be, had a few off the toe and I lost the ball out to the right in the rough but did not see an major drop off in distance. Only took til about mid round that I had my confidence back with the long irons, everything jumped off the face, incredibly soft feel. I'll get some more pictures up on my lunch break.

I was also able to trade in my old irons(PSI Tours) and my old 3W, golf Galaxy was doing a Cobra promotion so I replaced my 3W with an LTDX for the price of tax and wow it lives up to the hype.PXL_20230721_213457221.jpg.1552461afc8d6f9c222c358e1c737315.jpg
