Here's one I don't think I saw previously, how close are we to artificial turf that seriously mimics grass and is affordable?  Also going into the fiberbuilt mat and other high end product, and perhaps where that technology can become more cost effective in the future to become pervasive in ranges and indoor facilities.

What do you think will be the biggest improvement to the T200 lineup?

Not sure about ranges and indoor facilities but I've recently started using some of my leftover turf as practice turf.

I feel like I have lots of questions. I'll list my top ones below and see what everyone says.

For those who have done test, what equipment have you used to do your test? I don't know where to begin with trying to figure out a way to measure launch angles, spin rates, etc. Whenever I get the opportunity to test, I want to make sure I give a review with the data to back it up.

For walkers, what's your favorite shoe?

Favorite golf app and why? I'm currently using GolfShots and I just downloaded an app called TheGrint.

Favorite golf friendly smart watch? I'm currently old school and rock a mechanical watch. I'm very interested in a smart watch that tracks runs and rounds of golf.

How about a deep dive into launch monitor numbers? I have a SkyTrak and understand what the numbers are trying to tell me but I don't understand how much of a change in a number is significant, or which numbers are the most beneficial to monitor.  I am sure each device may vary in what it is good at and what it is not.

Which club manufacturers are currently used in AI to design their faces, and which ones aren't? I guess it's a basic question of which has ripples on the backside of their faces and which ones are completely smooth.

I'd like to know Tony's opinion on how heavily influenced the results of most wanted testing are impacted by the specific group of testers in a particular year.  Also if anything can be done to minimize their impact other than to just have a larger tester pool which I understand becomes logistically impossible.

The reason I ask is because if I remember correctly we sometimes see big swings in the results for some clubs.  I think one year TSi2 finished as runner up to most wanted and then in it's second year finished middle of the pack behind several of the drivers it had handily beat the year before.  Likewise, I think G425 (maybe 410?) finished middle of the road in it's launch year and then won most wanted in it's second year.  Results like that make me believe that the testing is just a reflection of the group each year.

I love MGS and appreciate the data driven nature behind the testing but at some point it starts to not be any better than the anecdotal methodology of Hot List or similar if one year the group scatters shots all over the face and a higher MOI driver wins and then the next they're wearing a hole in the center and all of a sudden a low spin driver is the best.

Hi everyone- I'm hearing more and more that golf courses are being shut down, torn up for housing? What's the trend and where do you see this going? Any specific area impacted more than others?

For the past week, I've been listening to the 3-6 minute daily messages on an app called Imagine Golf, which focuses on the mental side of golf, including course management. I like the simplicity of it and the reviews are very positive. I'm going to try it for the next year. But it also got me to thinking: does the average golfer actually work on their mental games? My friends (3-15 hc) don't seem to.

Most of us can't afford to go to Bob Rotella. There are a ton of relatively inexpensive online programs out there promoting the mental game. There are a ton of books. What are the best resources for working on our mental games?

Seems to me, getting out of our own way, whether with a stronger mentality or better course strategy, would be the fastest way to lower our scores and hc.

Why hasnt someone in the industry created a simple comparison chart for shafts? If you have an iron shaft your fit into and love the results, why cant you find a driver shaft that fits that profile? Unless im not sure where to look im coming in with triple bogey.

I am currently a 7.4 index. WITB is quite a shamble! Driver Callaway Epic Flash with MMT 60 stiff. 3 wood is Tour Edge C721 HZRDUS 70 stiff. I currently carry 3 hybrids 3,4 and 5 Tour Edge C721 found them way easier to hit than irons all with HZRDUS Black 80 stiff. Irons ard Sub70 649 blades 6-p with 6.0 rifles. I carry Mizuno wedges 50, 54 and 58. Currently have a Scotty Newport 2.5.

I live in Goodyear AZ. Apparently, the only business we seem to be able to attract are large warehouses. We had a local course torn up so a warehouse and Pilot truck stop can be put in it's place. So although it isn't housing, losing golf courses to other uses is a thing.

Driver: Callaway Epic 9 degree, stiff (set at 10 degrees with the movable weight in the center}

FW: Callaway Epic 3,5, heaven wood w/ regular shaft (driver shaft in 3 wood, 3 wood shaft in 5 wood, 5 wood shaft in heaven wood, all three set at neutral plus 1 degree)

I read that the course in Southern NJ Mike Trout is building is on the site of an old silica sand mine. I wonder about the other potential repurpose sites that could possibly take the trend the other way.

Maybe incorporate all of that, places that are losing courses per capita and gaining, I'd imagine it varies by geography.

Piggybacking off @Golfspy_CG2 are drivers costing too much or are golfers getting fed up with prices I have a few follow ups that kinda relate.

1. In your opinion where will golfers find the best value for their money? Ie clubs, golf balls, accessories (gps, rangefinder etc)

2. Realistically will we see DTC drivers truly compete with the big boys from a data perspective? Market share will forever be a struggle.

3. Golf balls also seem to be trending upwards too. Do you feel there is a reasonable cap for how much a dozen balls should cost?

I want to know if there are any other differences in shaft selection besides the obvious things like shaft weight, shaft stiffness 🤨, and shaft length 🤨.

Hi Everybody,

Have a question about my driver. I have always had an issue with a slice. I've been playing the Ping 410 SFT Driver the last few years. It has helped with my slice, however, I now hook it sometimes. I am about to purchase a new Ping G430 Driver. Since I've seen some improvement with my slice I'm wondering if I should stick with the SFT model or go with the MAX with the adjustable weight?? Any advice would be appreciated!

I typically draw my drives, but occasionally we'll have a big banana ball that I've been fighting for the past 30 years. I would rather lose five yards and go with the Ping Max and be in the Fairway then off in the bushes. Just my two cents. Plus, the adjustability will help with your shot shaping.

I'm trying to understand the logic - bring in golfers to spend money vs boxes?

I totally get that. I think I have 5-10 more good years in me where a premium ball is justifiable but once my swing spped dips under 100mph I'll more than likely go with a budget friendly ball like Snell or Kirkland.

This is why eBay is my go-to when buying balls. I typically always buy 4a balls, looks almost new for a fraction of the price.

I agree. $40 bucks is my max amount for balls. I don't play well enough to justify spending more. Being retired has it's advantages but rolling in the dough isn't one of them. We live comfortably and happy to spoil 6 grand kids, but there are limits. Paid for dinner on the run for 5 at an arches place and paid over 45. OMG. When did that go up? Anyway, I live within my means and that involves golf as well. Heck, I'm just happy I can still walk my rounds.

1. Practice.  Sure equipment has some impact but I think the most cost effective aspect is practice.

2. I don't believe DTC overall will ever match the OEM. Too much money spent on tour pros free equipment just to try and convince me I should buy theirs.  It is hard for me to understand much less accept that we are paying for their freebies. Heck they are the ones making the big bucks.  Doesn't matter the sport. The amount we pay for them is out of this world.

3. I mentioned $40 earlier.

I may have missed this in past communications, I am wondering how long do "New" golf balls last being stored?  I have them stored in the garage that doesn't see too extreme of temperatures. I have a dozen brand new Pro V1's that may be 3 years old and fortunate for me my golf game has improved and I have been maybe losing 1 ball a round.  Trying to go through my inventory to get to these Pro V's lol.

Driver prices are definitely rising and making it harder for a retired educator to upgrade to the newer models.
