Hi…..

Been a Ping guy forever.

72 yrs old. 14 handicap. Slow swing speed.

Presently playing Ping G410 irons.

Am considering G430 irons. Any thoughts pro or con? Thanks.

Ancillary question: steel vs graphite shafts. Presently playing graphite.

Thanks!

Have you hit them and did you see any difference or improvement

i personally would always recommend graphite as a first choice option.

Swing speed and handicap should not be the consideration for choosing a club. How they perform for your swing should be.

Both iron sets are good choices. Whether one sees any change in performance is hard to say and for the most part what’s staying with the same type of iron category from the same manufacturer there won’t be much over the course of a couple releases.

The performance could change good or bad when the shaft is changed and how that change affects how the golfer swings based on feel and balance.

Going graphite isn’t a bad thing from a physical standpoint but because the performance compared to steel can be tighter dispersion control. But when making the switch it’s not a simple switch of staying in the same weight or profile.

At the end of the day the only way to know

wjat works and if it’s better is to test for yourself either via demos or getting fit

See if you can hit a demo iron with the new Alta Quick senior shaft.  I was very impressed with it.
