kylebennett006 Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 Yesterday, a buddy of mine and I went out to try and get in a pre-league 9 holes. However, we only made it through hole #4 before the storms rolled in and the course blew the air horn. We went back to the clubhouse to get a rain check (they acknowledged this was a possibility because the radar looked bleak). And for the first time in my life, the course issued a pro-rated rain check, giving us credit only for the holes we failed to complete. My response was pretty simple: I told the guy I can't take my score up to that point back out there with me when we come back. It's a complete wipe and restart. But you want to pro-rate me?? This is my first experience with this. Most rainchecks I've received are a full credit. Is this unusual or par for the course in your guys' experience? cnosil Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 I’ve had both happen. If you got through 17 holes should they give you a rain check for 18? Dweed Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 At some of the local courses I've paid and played at rain checks are granted for the full 9 or 18 that I paid for if... Playing 9 and I completed 5 holes no rain check. on 18 if I completed 12 same goes. But never have I seen come back and comlete 3 0r 4. Golf2Much Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 @kylebennett006, my home course does the same thing. As a course member, I only pay for the cart. Even then, the pro will ask how many holes we played and prorate the cart fee for the balance of the round. It's a shame they have to squeeze every dollar they can from even their most frequent customers. I can't decide if it's a post COVID thing that they are trying to cash in with the resurgence of golf or the fact that the industry is starting to regress to pre-COVID days and they are capturing every dollar they can. GaDawg Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 I have yet to have or hear of a course giving a rain check for a full round if you have played 4 holes out of 9.
