Hook DeLoft Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 I recently switched to Bridgestone XS balls and am delighted with their performance on iron shots and around the green. I get the most spin since the late, lamented Maxfli Revolution of the early 2000's. I've also noticed no drop off in distance, despite Bridgestone marketing the ball to high swing speed players. The possible issue is control of the driver. Traditionally, driving is a strength of my game, yet recently it seems I am seeing a lot more curve in my shots leading to some blowup holes after hitting it in the trees or OB. It just seems more draws are turning into hooks and more pushes are going waaaay right. Of course, a swing path that is too much in to out can cause this and that certainly could be the problem. But I would like to know if others have seen control issues with this ball in the long game. I just went to a Titleist fitting and after we were done, my fitter asked me which ball I was playing. I told him the majority of time I played the Pro V1. He advised that I may want to go to the Pro V1X due to it having a little less spin. His comment was that a ball that spins a lot will increase your pushes into a significant slice and the same with draws becoming hooks. Not sure if this is the same for you, but thought I would pass it a long. Brooky03 Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 I was going to suggest a softer ball, but I'm not overly well-versed in this area. I just remember when the Supersofts came out, it was noted that they basically refused to spin off of driver. If it's generally true that softer balls spin less off of driver (idk if it is), maybe going to a softer ball could help? Not that you have to go Supersoft level of softness. Quote

I understand and agree. I still have 3 dozen of the Pro V1 and am going to continue to play them. May do a side by side comparison to see if I can tell a difference. cnosil 1 Quote Driver: TSI3 - 10*, Hzrdus Smoke 6.0 Stiff Driver: Qi10 - 10.5*, Hzrdus Smoke RDX 6.0 Stiff 3 Wood: Qi10 - 15*, Graphite Design Tour AD DJ5 Stiff 5 Wood: Qi10 - Ventus TR Reg Irons: 5 - PW T150, with Nippon Zelos 7 Reg, 4 iron - U505 with Project X HZRDUS Black Stiff Wedges: Vokey SM 9 - 50*, 60* Standard Wedge Shafts Wedge: Milled Grind 3 MG3 56* S200 shaft Putter: Studio Select Newport 1.5 Putter: Phantom X 5.5 Ball: Pro V1x
