I am a little confused  i tried to post my round for week 2 of the match play and was under the impression I had until today to post. It wont let me post the normal way.  it wants to put my score in this weeks results.  Please see my score card from last week for week 2

@David Staller, hopefully I can help fix the confusion.  You can post on either the weekly VCT or the Match Play threads.  If you post on the weekly virtual tournament, you just have to make sure you pick the correct week that the rounds need to be played.  For week 2 of the Match Play tournament (rounds played between September 11-17) could be posted on Week 24 of the weekly tournament.  For the Match Play Week 3 tournament, you will need to play between September 18-24 and post on either the Week 25 thread or the Match Play thread. 

Scores can be posted any time during the week but must be in by close of business the following Monday.  So, you were correct that for Week two, you had until today to post.  Week three rounds are not due until September 25th.  However, if you can, as the guy who has to input all the scores, it would be helpful to post during the week so I don't have a flood of scores to input or chaise down those who have not posted yet.   If you post on the weekly tournament thread, don't forget to click the last line on the drop down menu to acknowledge that your score will be used in the Match Play tournament.

FYI - I posted my week 2 score today but the VCT Match Play option only shows Week 3.

Might want to consider leaving the option for the prior week until Tuesday since some people play on Sunday and won't have a chance to post until Monday morning.

@StrokerAce, it says Week 3 match score because Week 25 is for rounds played September 18-24 when Match Play week 3 rounds need to be played.  If you posted on Week 24 (September 11-17), it would have said week two match play scores.

But your earlier post (above) says that we have until close of business Monday to post. If that's the case why not leave the option up for week 2 until Tuesday?

The Weekly VCT tournaments and Match Play matches run Monday through Sunday.  The round needs to be played on or before Sunday of that weekly VCT thread to count.  However, participants have until close of business on the following Monday to input the previous week's scores.  That gives participants who played on Sunday a day to input their scores into the system.

I know you are all wondering how your teams did this past week.  There were some tight matches and a couple of blow outs.  I'm still waiting for a handful of scores to resolve four matches.  Once I either have the scores or their captains indicate they will not be coming, I'll post the Week Two standings and Week Three critical matches.  From what I can see so far, who takes first place and represents their division in the Match Play playoffs will come down to the bitter end.  

If that's not a teaser statement...I don't know what is!  

So hang in there fellow Match Play participants.  We'll get the results out as soon as we can!

Without further ado, here are the results for Match Play Week 2.

Many of the matches went down to the wire.  Eleven of the sixteen matches were decided within the last three holes.  Four of the sixteen match outcomes were decided on the last hole.   There were very tight matches throughout the week.

Duckboats 2.0, Sharky Mac'n Swans and Muscle Backs distinguished themselves with two wins this week.

The Week Two and the overall standings are as follows:

  

As you can see from the overall standings, first place and a trip to the playoffs are up for grabs in each of the four divisions!  Two divisions are tied (with third place only a 1/2 point back), one division leader only has a 1/2-point lead and the last division leader has a one-point lead.  

Given the tight matches, you may be wondering how we will work tie breakers?  First tie breaker will be head-to-head competition between the tied teams.  You may be wondering why I've been tracking holes won?  The second tie breaker is most holes won during the three-week event.  If it gets to a third tie breaker, well, we flip a coin!

This should be an epic week of match play!  So, everyone sharpen your games and put forth your best efforts. 

Come this time next Monday, we'll be crowning divisional champions and setting up the two-week playoffs.

Heck no. This week is all about questionable judgment squared. I mean, it has to pay off eventually, right? Maybe?? Good luck to you guys too. Let’s make this our best matchup to date.

One of my buddies only pulls out the putter for anything 50 yds in. And he usually puts it closer than any of us using a wedge!

Thanks @Q22Golf for letting me sub in for week 2.  Looks like I was able to help push the Aces a bit closer to the goal.  Didn't feel like it was my best round, hopefully @BassMaestro was able to cover a few of the holes that got away from me.

 

Not quite sure how to read the results column.  I don't watch much sportsball on tee-vee and have only played in singles tournaments.  Should I read it how 1A vs 2A and 1B vs 2B did against each other?

Hrrm, if this a world cup it's pretty obvious which group is the Group of Death... spoiler, it's ours. @GolfSpy_APH, knowing that everything comes down to this week, it's unlikely I go with the strategy option I discussed with you this weekend, it doesn't seem just.

EDIT: I guess I'll let the cat out of the bag. I was thinking of playing my home course from the front tees, making it a course handicap of scratch against a par 70 at just over 4000 yards in an attempt to go absolutely birdie crazy. However, seeing how @USMCSnyper is seemingly finding good success at Northern Pines, maybe the magic is heading to Cicero.
