I had a C01 heavy that was quite nice and can be found for a steal these days. You are absolutely right that people should look for these. It is probably the best budget putter out there right now, IMO.

Very true, and a lot of the ones that he made for Mizuno can be had for $100-150, or at least that is what I've seen.

What are you rolling here? Yes grooves? or some of the fancy milling centers from betti and others.

I played the TaylorMade Rosa Monza (the original) for a couple of seasons. I haven't found an insert I like since. The FIT Face stuff Bettinardi did with Mizuno made for the best feeling putter IMHO.

$96 shipped, new, was the deal I found at the time.

Is anyone using the non-insert Odyssey black? Either the original or new series? Original #2 for me for a while, liked the feel, but it was too light. Curious about the new line.

Well I play golf year around so to start my 2010 season I was using a Odyssey White Hot XG and about 4 weeks ago I got my Scotty. I will never go back to a insert putter. I love the feed back that I get from a milled faced putter and not only does it feel better but the putts sound better to me.

I could never find the older ones, but the new non-insert black serie is really nice in my experience. It has very deep mill lines, which, from what I've heard, makes the feel better.

That's a very good deal.

I prefer a non-insert putter; I like milled steel. Not that I generally hit my putts too far off the sweet spot, but I don't like the idea of potentially hitting the ball half on the insert and half off.

Not questioning your putting skill :) , but did you ever miss like Matt worried about missing above. I wondered about this too, but the Odyssey inset seems too big for this to happen.

I prefer no insert, no chance though on a rubber. Quite liked the couple of metal one's I've had. One of the guys I play with has an STX, it's like putting with a marshmallow on a stick.

Ugh, STX. Those got a lot of buzz at one point. The Anti-Christ of insert putters. Just horrible.

I guess technically I was gaming an insert putter with my Scotty Studio Style Newport. Does it count if the insert is GSS? I need a ruling.

Now with the Rife Abaco, no insert, just glorious milled grooves baby!!

I think it's still an insert, even if it's a milled insert.

PING iWi and iN inserts have excellent feel to them. On the iWi I had to look at the face to see if one was there. From a no-insert putter guy, that is a compliment.

Dammit! I was afraid you were going to say that... Guess I can't say that I don't like inserts ever again. Gamed that putter for four years.

That Scotty was my first quality putter, gamed it for a little over a year IIRC. Now my dad has it, though for the trip he brought out the oldest 8802-style I've ever seen and putted great.

I prefer the feel off of putters without an insert, in fact the only one with an insert that I have had much success with has been the first Rossa Maranello TP putter with the solid Titallium insert.
