fixyurdivot
It's so great that we have Jim @McGolf as part of our forum community. I was poking around the subject of putters and came across this video and the subject of back-weighting putters. I had a putter fitting a few of years ago and have been gaming one of the finalists from that list. We talked alot about my natural putter path, and that a higher MOI, toe hang design was the better fit. My H2H testing against my PING B61 showed the ER5v to be the better choice. I don't recall much if any discussion about putter weight. I see lots of new products that incorporate changeable weights in the sole but very little about adding weight in the butt end of the shaft. I'm not much of a "tinkerer" when it comes to my gear... tend to operate on the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" tenet. But, this has peaked my interest . Anyone looked into/tried this CB approach? I say that because how much weight do you consider back weighting? You can accomplish backweight by putting a weight or weights in the butt of the putter or you can just use a heavier grip. If you use an Odyssey Stroke Lab putter, you have backweighting. Superstroke grips typically have a butt weight. Edel looks at backweighting as part of their fitting process. To answer your question, yes I have my putter backweighted (30g weight) but my putter is still very light in total weight (520g). Did you experiment with different backweight getting to the 30g and, if so, how? It was in the strokelab shaft that I put on my putter. early stroke labs had heavy grips and a weight; newer ones just backweight with a heavy grip. I have experimented in the past. I have a 70g Balance certified weight; sold a few others many years ago. Also did a balance certified fitting many many years ago; back when I thought camerons were great fixyurdivot 1 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: Paradym AI Smoke Max HL 16.5* w/MCA TENSEI AV Series Blue Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Render w/VA Composites Baddazz Backup Putters: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe, Milled Collection RSX 2 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017
